    Hey all,

I’m currently in the UK doing an (unpaid, just for school) internship/study abroad program through my school for the summer, and I was running on the assumption that I’d be back in the US for my interview (based on friends’ waiting times, and anecdotal data I’d seen here) by September. But, does anyone know how long your application will be delayed if you request to reschedule the interview?

My choices are to fly back for a day (Edinburgh to San Francisco, which would be about $1000 round trip), or to wait. Money’s a bit tight (I’m a student!) but I could fish the airfare out of my savings if absolutely necessary. I graduate in December and would like to be able to consider graduate studies in Europe afterward, so shooting for naturalization by January-February... WWYD?

My interview date was June 5, 2018 but I had to re-schedule because I was flying to the UK for a vacation. I really wish I hadn't rescheduled now because I've heard nothing about a new appointment date. I went to an Infopass appointment last Tuesday and was told it will be a month, or two, or longer until I receive a new appointment date. I so wish I'd just gone to the original appointment.

Hey Guys,  please help with the confusion.

I got emails and updates on 9th May that files is moved to another office. Then on 10th May new office have jurisdiction over my case.

and  online update says they have sent a letter explaining why they moved but I haven’t received that letter.

Today I check status on automated phone line it is saying my file is moved to Laguna Niguel. Well this is the place I filed it. It could be moved moved from one floor to another.

but around May 14th I went for my infopass for getting I-551 stamp and IO told me after looking at notes that it has been moved to Nebraska.

I am really confused at this point where exactly file is. Initially I was happy learning that it moved to Nebraska. But after not getting any letter yet and automated system telling me it is in laguna Niguel it confuses again.

really fed up with this up and down emotional and bumpy ride. Please help if someone had similar experience or if May 9th update filers got their letter confirming case transferred.

    Thanks in advance!

The location stated by the automated phone line won't change until the new office receives the file. You won't get a status update when that happens, it'll just happen. Call again in a week and check.

  3. Well it's been over two weeks since the Cincinnati local office received my letter (certified delivery) requesting an interview re-schedule and I've received no reply. Looks like they've just shoved the letter in my file and only intend to deal with it when I fail to attend ...just like they did here with @dioxide45 :

I've booked an Mis-Infopass appointment for Monday to find out whats going on. So frustrating!

Hi everyone. I'm hoping someone may have an answer to this question. Hubby went for a job interview and received a conditional offer of employment they had to run a background check. No problem his record is completely clean. When the background check came back it came back with a charge in Kansas with possession of meth in August 2012. We were flabbergasted. This is completely false. First he's never been to Kansas and second he hadn't even ever visited America yet at this time. Also when he moved in with me after he immigrated our apartment complex ran his background check and it came out clean. When he had jobs in the past in the last couple years in America and he had background checks conducted they came out clean. Also he passed AOS and they would have conducted the strictest background checks and he was approved with no problem. I'm worried that this background check conducted by this job is going to screw up his immigration process for ROC and N-400. We filed a dispute with the background check company but it'll take them 30 days max to do anything. The background check company is First Advantage. I'm scared of ICE breaking down the door over this.

Absolutely unbelievable.  I'm sorry, Corvusheart. Don't worry - it'll get sorted,

I called them and also my lawyer reached out to them by phone. Speaking with my lawyer it seemed like they sometime forget or slip through the cracks. Once you set up an inquiry they usually update it within 30 days. It my case it took about 10 days after the inquiry.

Thanks very much. There's no way in hell that I'm calling the misinformation line but I'll see what they say at an Infopass. Thanks :-)

Mine got delayed by 2 months January 5th to March 8th. Also, I had to remind them to reschedule.

How did you remind them? Infopass?

USCIS received my request to re-schedule my N-400 interview on Monday and I haven't heard anything. I'm going to book an Infopass in a fortnights time to check up on the letter, if I haven't heard anything by then. Frustrating (as ever) though - a 90 minute drive to ask if they received my letter. Typical.

Why are some people wishing for applying for n-400 - has not applying slowed down your process?   The reason I ask is that during my infopass appointment today the officer told me that applying for n-400 actually slows down the i-751 process because the file is no longer at california service center, in my case, and has moved to the national benefit center, which means more delay in approval of i751.   So I am confused as to why some folks like you are wishing they applied for n-400 as well ?

It's definitely speeded up my application but I think a lot depends on how backed-up your local office is.

I have been approved for the I-751! Had my dual N-400/I-751 interview yesterday.

The IO wanted both my wife and I to come in, saw I had photo books of my kids and looked at them at the beginning and I narrated. He asked how often we get professional photos, and we said a couple times a year. We had photo books from 2014 to 2017 that he looked at. He seemed fine.

The folder for my I-751 was huge. He went through my name, DOB, where we met, what my marriage date was and then said he was going to approve it. Then onto my N400 interview which was simple (as expected from all the reading I've done in preparation). I was recommended for approval for that.

One thing was I have international travel for work coming up so told him and asked about the I551 stamp and he said I could get one outside. They gave me one until mid July, hopefully I get naturalized by then!

My wife jokes that I now have my 10 year green card valid for 2 months (the stamp in my passport says I-751 approved).

Congratulations! The end of this arduous journey is in sight for you!

For those who have had to reschedule their N400 internview, how long was the delay on your case? I know most people don’t recommend to reschedule, but if I really need to, how much longer would I be waiting for? I’ve read somewhere that it would be 1 to 3 months from the original interview date. Is that right?

I receive my interview date on Friday and its slap bang in the middle of a trip to the UK. I have flights booked and family commitments whilst I'm there. I mailed a letter asking them to reschedule the interview on Saturday and it was received by my local office this afternoon. Hopefully it won't delay my application by months.

Hi, guys after 1 year and 8 months and 25 days of waiting. My 751 was finally approved this morning. I wish my husband were alive to see this. I think he helped from heaven. Good luck to those of you who are still waiting. In the midst of sadness and immigration complications, finally some good news, I want to thank those of you who have been supportive of me and my circumstances. I did not get my "card in production" update though. Probably due to my 400, they still have to reject my 400 due to my husband's passing 3 days after the 400 interview. Anyone got the approval notice first and card in production second? Thanks.

    Finally. Congratulations.

Thanks for letting me know.  My heart sinks for you, as I know that this will add to the stress!  But they have to understand unrefundable tickets...I hope!

    Sukie in NY

I'm not complaining though (well, trying not to). At least I've heard something from them lol.

    Enjoy your holiday!

BTW, my interview notice uploaded within 32 hours.

Derwood - let me know what you are going to do.  We are in Oz until June 15, and then, smack dab after we get back to the US, my brother is getting married, and I'll be away from home for a week.

I'd love for the interview to come through for July, but now I actually fear it is going to come in early June.  We can come back early, but I'd rather not....

    Susan

I'm typing a letter as we speak, @Sukie My flights, hotels and train tickets are non-refundable, so I have no option but to ask for a different date. Urgh, you just know this is gonna delay things by months lol
