I usually got through in the final hour of operations at night.

I always called as soon as they open (7am EST). More often that not, I got through on the first try.

I tried calling NVC last week as well, and I was able to connect twice, waited about 20-40 minutes each call, and the call would drop suddenly without me connecting to a rep. Does that happen to others as well?

I was never able to get through no matter when and how many times I tried.

After a holiday weekend of course they are beyond overloaded. Wouldn't be surprised they shut down their phones so they can get some work done.

I got through with about 30 attempts each time. Some people are not able to get through with 100+ calls.

Yes. That's normal. Keep trying.

This is when you and your spouse both grab the phone and make a friendly bet of who gets through first.

Keep redailing until goes through. It's normal to get a busy signal most of a time.

OMG 2ndMessiah, this is SO TRUE. I found it sad for a while also. Now that I have been reading this same "return policy" garbage over and over from overly entitled USC and for years, it just sickens me to no end. God knows that both your country and mine are receiving a huge bunch of immigrants also. Did you ever witness that in your home country? I have never, ever seen that.
I can only imagine what this poor woman might be going through at home considering the already abusive behavior and entitlement displayed here.

Jesus Christ, what's up with some USC spouses thinking they can put their "real doll" foreign spouses back on a plane when things don't work out! Bringing them to the US might have been your doing, putting on a plane back home is not.

Sorry, there is no returns policy when marrying a foreign national.
Relationships breakdown, so divorce and move on.
On a personal note I find it sad that so many people think they can apparently treat a foreign spouse differently to a US spouse and return them "home" like a defective appliance.

Robert, all you need do is get a divorce and move on with your life. You can't force your wife to leave the country but you can force her to leave your life by getting a divorce. If things get ugly you can get a restraining order so she won't bother you anymore.
Get a lawyer and get started on your divorcce.

i think you should call them ,though it takes few days to few weeks to receive .they received my case in 12 days while they received nabil451's case in 4 days. i suggest call them twice in a day and try your luck

Assumption - 12 to 14 months from filing date till interview date.
Have yer uscitizen spouse get a job NOW teaching English in China, contracted to start for the fall semester, a one year contract. After 6 months, he can apply for the I-130 via Direct Consular Filing to the USCIS office in Beijing or Guangzhou. Interview about 2 to 3 months after filing date.
Sure, it means yer spouse gives up his/her life in the USA for a year - but - isn't being with you, daily, worth it ?

it is never ok to threaten with divorce. NEVER. Whichever culture you may belong in, love is love. If you love someone you just try to make things better. Don't just expect the other person to do everything for you and when they don't live up to your expectations, you complain and cry DIVORCE! She has to put in EFFORT. Just because she is Chinese and that's how she might do things, doesn't mean it is ok! Race doesn't excuse you from abuse. She is mentally and emotionally abusing her partner. She needs to understand his point of view too! If she does not have it in her to try, then she does not love him...enough? It cannot always be him him him him. Marriage takes 2 to work. She has to put in effort. AND NO, her moving to the states isn't enough effort. It's a given that you will go where your partner goes. It's the "working things out" that's hard.

we not have this issue when she was in China, I stay with her 1 month every 3 or 4 months, almost 6 years. It was only when she came here, that she started this rant of 'I want a divorce'. Agree with Darnell - it is the white book, obtained from one of China's Notarial Offices (Gong Zheng Chu), which is required. All Chinese documentation to be used abroad is processed through the notary offices and issued in the form of notarial certificates. Notarial offices are located in all major Chinese cities and in rural county seats
The documents required are the GongZhengShu 公证书

Even if she was taken advantage of, she didn't trust you and share her side of the story. Don't be smart, just let it go .
