You can not petition for a 26 year old child... must be under 21 and unmarried, since you are just a GC holder.

Regardless your child would have to go back to her country and not overstay her visitor visa else she would have lied to an immigration officer when she arrived here on her visa and then during future interview they would be denied based on lying.

This is incorrect. My mother is a GC holder and applied to get my sister here. It’s a F2B visa. My sister is 28. Yes she did waited 5 years but she finally have her interview at the end of this month in Colombia. Long process but possible

  2. Hi! I was in your same situation over 7 years ago. My sister was over 18 though and not married. I was able to get my mom here in about 12 months. Then as soon as my mom got here to the US we filed for my half sister(on my mom side). She waited 4 years for her paperwork to finally come through. Now we are just waiting on interview for her. Pandemic have put a hold on this. For brother and sister does take many years. I submitted for my sister over 8 years ago and still waiting.
Fill out I-130 for your mom. Make sure you have the Colombia birth certificate and have translated. Also have to submit your birth certificate to proof she is your mom. Also your certificate of US citizenship. Let me know if you need any help with the documents.

My son just enter US with resident visa he is going to be 18 in a few week, can he become citizen after he turn 18?, is it automatically or I have to apply like everybody else?

    Thanks

Are you a US citizen? (Parent). That happened to me. I entered US at age of 15. My dad petitioned me and he was a US citizen. I came in with a LPR. A few years later when I was about 20 I realized that I was already considered a US citizen. I picked up my citizenship certificate at the immigration service of the state I live in. That was about 2006. Not sure if this have changed, but I don't think it has.

Hi Wally, I am also on the same boat. I live in Colombia and are now at the NVC documents stage but don't know what will happen with interview. Also I am not sure if documents like birth certificates and cedula need to be translated to english or original spanish version is ok. do you know this?

Any documents going to NVC should be translated. The translator have to say: “ they are fluent spanish and English speakers” and signed. I did it for both my parents and now my sister. First I didn’t send it translated they asked me to do and it delayed my papers.

  5. Hello! I am helping my mom with her F2B(daughter of LPR)visa. In May we did the steps and send all documents. Today we got an email from NVC saying to check your case messages. The page is very glitchy and it doesn’t show me the full message. I do see that the Police Certificate is an “invalid” document and needs to be resubmitted. Anyone can help me find the correct one that they want for Colombia. I was so positive that I send them the correct one.

Hi! thanks for sharing your experience! :)
Wow her date is relatively close now! Good thing you recieved your NVC steps earlier than expected! I really hope I do too! I did noticed that my NOA2 was sent early than most people.

Well if you can, let me know when your sister is contacted for the appt! If you don´t mind I'll add you or follow your timeline. I don´t know anyone from South America who is going through the same process as I am, so anything you can share helps!

I know. Its hard to find people with F2B. Will let you know.

  7. I did the I-130 for my mom and my sister who was just 21 at the time of the application. My mom got her visa in one year and was able to come here. My sister is still waiting for her paperwork through me after 8 years. My mom did apply for my sister 5 years ago (as child of LPR) and her process just started moving along. Right now its at the last step before she gets an interview.
I am also a US citizen and that didnt move things along for my sister. Only for my mother. I am sorry but its pretty impossible for them to all come here at same time.

  8. Hello!
I am helping my mother with the F2B for my sister who still lives in Colombia. My mom is also a permanent resident. My sister’s PD is September 15,2015. We received the steps from NVC on May 2020. We submitted all the requirements(DS260, fees & affidavit of support) and are still waiting for NVC to review it. According to some dates I found they are reviewing Documents sent to them on March 2020. Good luck. I hope you get your steps sooner than 2 years. You never know. It took us by surprise that we got the steps for my sister when we did.

  9. To answer your question about Bogota. 3 years ago my parents arrived to US. So I am referring to how everything worked out for us 3 years ago. We had to schedule the medical with one of the doctors suggested in the packet. We choose Dr.Roa. He was great. We gave the secretary the day of the interview and we were schedule about a month before the actual interview. So my parents traveled to Bogota to do medical and then returned back home(to Cali). You do need two full days for medical as the first day you do Labs in the AM and then go to medical in afternoon. Then you have to return next day to pick up envelop with medical results(do not open packet). Then about 3 days before interview they returned to Bogota for Biometric(fingerprinting) and the interview. Fingerprinting was in a different location as the embassy and we had to schedule appointment for that.
My conclusion for your situation is that you probably will need at least 2 weeks in Bogota. To do the medical, fingerprinting and interview. I am not sure how it will work out for her to get the visa through DHL if she is from Venezuela. My parents returned to Cali and they got it through a DHL office in Cali where they went to pick it up. I think she might be able to do that. I am sure they have DHL in Venezuela and she would be able to pick up the passport with visa in it in one of the locations She confirms. let me know if you have other questions.

  10. Thanks all! I think I'll have my husband get a blood test to see what he has/doesn't have and then call one of the panel physicians to ask what he should do.

If anyone has gone through this in Colombia I would be very interested to hear your experience!

Please read mu post. In colombia is different. Recently went through this with my mom. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have
  11. Hello all -

My husband does not have a record of his vaccinations. We are months away from his interview but trying to plan ahead. Should he try to get all the vaccinations now or wait until the medical exam right before the interview?

Any advice would be much appreciated, especially if you have gone through the process in Colombia.

    Thank you!

My mom had her medical done in Bogota by doctor Roa on March 2nd. She did not have any record of vaccinations either. The DR told her what to get for vaccinations based on her age. The vaccinations are done in his office. So it was easy and she did not have to go get a bunch of vaccination that were not necessary for her age. We paid over $200 pesos extra from medical exam ane lab test.

No need to worry about this part. Do worrh about making your appt at least 3 daya before interview because the results package its not available the same day of the exam, they only give it to you the following day

  12. My mom went today for her medical. It was blood work and chest x-rays at the laboratory. Blood work is to see if you have any contagious diseases. Chest x-rays is to check for Tuberculosis. At the medical is just a regular physical. My mom stated that they checked her eyes, mouth, heart and legs. Very simple exam. Then they asked her to go over to another room and get vaccinations (cost of 225 pesos for her "age"). She said it was very simple.

  13. Hello I'm in the process of buying the ticket for my fiancé so she can finally move with me, I have a question because I don't want to make a mistake when purchasing the ticket.

round trip tickets are almost $100 dollars cheaper than just one way tickets, would immigration give her a problem when she enters the USA because she has a roundtrip ticket or that's not a problem. don't want to make that mistake and have her go threw any problems once she arrives.

    Thanks

Hi! I was wondering the same thing about the round trip. Also can you let us know when your fiance actually has her visa in her hands. We have our appt on 3/24 and was wondering when you can buy the airplane ticket. I keep readin that it can only take a few days to two weeks.
  14. Today I submitted the DS-260. Hoping that my affidavit will be approve soon, case completed and get our appointment with embassy. I do have a question in regards to fees at the embassy. I am here trying to make sure I have saved enough money for when my mom has to travel to the embassy, have medicial, examination, vaccinations,x-rays. Etc.

when my mom have the interview at the embassy and they say: "Visa Approved", does my mom have to pay more fees? If so how much?

I am not sure if this varies with evey country but I am hoping some of you know. I just want to have an idea of how much money I should br coming up in the next few weeks.

  15. I have a question. Today I received an email stating that my DS-261(choose agent) was accepted. Then I log in and saw that IV fee($325) was available to pay, so I did. Now it shows PROCESSING. I would like to get the DS-260 done soon. So when does it become available?

I am really trying to finish up this process quickly. I would like to have my mom here for Christmas. Have not spend christmas with her for over 14 years. I always visit during cheaper flying seasons. Do you think this process will be done before then?

  16. Yes I believe I was prompted to or invited to via email to complete the next step of completing the DS260 form online - a very detailed form, so make sure you have ALL your mum's information required. And yes I believe if i remember correctly I called NVC to get the beneficiary ID for the login.

Thank you for the response. I am still a bit confused though because I read here in VisaJourney(another thread) that the affidavit and supporting documents is next...not the DS-260. its that true?

I followed what the letter said: 1. choose agent. 2. pay fees (AOS fee. $120.)

now what is step 3? sending the affidavit and supporting documents? or filling out the DS-260?

  17. I have a question and hope someone can help me. I received the "welcome letter"from NVC on Saturday. I followed the directions in the forms and did step 1 and step 2: choose of agent and pay fees. I read that once it says PAID I can continue and fill out the DS-260. Its that correct? Or do I have to wait for NVC to prompt me?

I was reading somewhere on NvC that I need a beneficiary ID. Where do I get this?

I am trying to be proactive and get this process moving. I am trying to get my mom here by Chirstmas time. Thank you!
