  1. Here and there I have this conversation with my wife. We are already at the NVC stage so I guess in this year my Wife and I are going to live there. She is 19 and always lived with her mom and never worked before, when she turned 18 she came to live with me in Brazil where I already have my stuffs, like an apartment, car and some savings.

We are always wondering how life will be once we move to US.

I work with IT, and I am guessing in the worst scenario I will end up getting, after a couple of months, once I am there, a full time job at a Help Desk or something like this, getting around a minimum wage. That being said I will get per hour 8.25$ and working 40 hours a week I will get at the end of the month around 1.300$ right?

She will start college as soon as we get there and will only be able to get a part time job, at a retail store or something like that. So her income will be around 660$.

I hope this will be a temporary situation, and by the time goes I will get something better than a minimum wage job, because I already have a graduation and years of experience here in Brazil, and I am not bad at what I do. But like I said, I hope this is the worst scenario.

We have been looking at prices, apartments, car and a few other stuffs here and there.

Those are the prices in Vegas of a few stuffs:

    Apartment rent: 750$ ~ 900$

    Internet: 60$

Mobile: Pay as you go 100$

    Groceries: 250$

    Medicines: 50$

    Gas: 150$

    Power: 150$

    Water: 50$

    Clothing: 70$

    Transportation: 250$

    This is around 2.000$

Am I forgetting something major? Are those prices realistic? My point of view is that you cannot live comfortably with a minimum wage plus a part time job, but you can live and not go broke!

    Hmmm,

Well the only thing I can say is it will definitely be hard to live in the US with the status you are in. It is similar to my case, I currently have a part-time job and still live with my parents and after my husband gets here, he will have a minimum wage job also. Although, I have just graduated from school so I will be able to look for a full-time job, Also, I have relatives int he US from my husbands side who are willing help us financially for a few months until we get set.

I am guessing that you will want to move out with your wife when you are here. You can have her live on campus to become more individual and pay tuition and what not using scholarship and loans. Then, you will have to use saved up money and also maybe help from friends and family to establish yourselves in the beginning..

Also, depending on your wife, she can get a full-time job or different part-time jobs. It is difficult and I could never do it, but I have seen people do it. My college roommate during my first year in college, she worked three jobs and studied pre-med and lived on her own and still had time to party.

Also, if your wife has no income, how did she show income to support you? Also, as a gc holder, you probably may not qualify for many health-insurance, or they will prob not be quite cheap... because technically the sponsor is supposed to take care of you financially.

    Hope this helps!

  2. So, this is completely a rant but...does anyone else get upset that the process is so long, partly because there is so much fraud attempts?

I even see people on this very forum (where most of the people are AMAZING and really helpful, thank you so much everyone) who are asking things about getting there somehow (K-1, CR-1) and now no longer being with that person, wanting to keep their GC or do ROC...etc.

Does that piss anyone else off?

I mean if there was less fraud, a lot of people on here would already be with their loved ones. I would be closer to being with my wife (we just started the process), my step-daughter and would get to actually be living there when our child was born (my wife is 3 months pregnant).

Anyway, complete and total rant...mostly because my wife is not feeling well and I wish I was there to help. And she is having a c-section so that has me even more worried.

    <End Rant>

Again, thanks everyone for the help.

    Brent

Hey Brentos, I know what you mean. It is really upsetting!! IT is so hard in this long process. I mean I know there are fraudulent cases but uggggh, I have seen people come here and leave after getting GC but it isn't fair to have me wait. Not only is that frustrating but also the time!! I have to admit that because of this enormously long process, I have argued and fought more with my husband because we are so far, it is such a strain to live so far and don't even know when your case will be done! To make is worse, most male applicants from my home country get AP....uggggh

I'm sorry that you are unable to see your wife, especially with a child. That is hard. There are many of us in the same boat, all we can do is support each other because it doesn't seem like it will get any better. It may be hard to deal with the separation but try not to let it out on each other, I have done that out of anger that I cannot control this situation.

    Best Wishes!

  3. Your very welcome, I'm just happy if I can help in any way. :)t5063.gif

I know how you feel but now that the interview date is getting closer I'm becoming more nervous and down right scared. So take a deep breath you will get there in no time at all. t5063.gif

Checklist is possible but wont happen but deny no they wont deny you so just hang in there you so close so please take it easy we are all praying for you so your all good. :D But I know you and I are much a like we wont stop worrying until this is all done. t5063.gif

So happy for you, my Senator and Congress women did NOTHING for us your one of the lucky ones that is actually getting help. I'll be praying this goes quickly and you get your husband home. :)t5063.gif

Geez I'm so sorry I hope it does help because it can't hurt. If you can pick someone in Ca that isn't retiring like Boxer she did nothing for me neither did Napolitano but you never know about Napolitano after I let her assistant have it she might have changed her attitudes to helping. I'll be praying all of you get your Visa's soon. t5063.gif

Yeah, thanks. I think I'll dig up the old letter and update it a bit. I can't believe there is still a backlog at NVC, I thought it would have been fixed by now. Coming this April, will be 2 years for me that I have applied. It sucks even more though that my case is at the Embassy, I can get no update at all! Just...wait...I hope to look back at this ridiculous process some day and laugh..a little.. :clock:

I used black. I talked to the NVC guy--i actually got a nice one for once--and he said that they would accept the form in either black or blue ink--but the issue wasn't the color, it's that they thought it was a copy, which it's not. They sent it to supervisor review, which could take up to 40 days. In the meantime he said I could submit a new AOS so that we don't have to start 60 days again if the supervisor doesnt rule in our favor. He also said we don't have to include the 2014 tax year yet, we could include up to 2013 bc 2014 isn't due until April so 2013 is still valid. He also said that this new affidavit wouldnt affect the old one at all, meaning if the supervisor agrees with us they'll move the case to cc and disregard this new affidavit. but if he doens't agree with us, at least we'll have a head start on the 60 days bc we weren't waiting for the supervisor. He also said we could use the old barcode cover sheet they sent us. So i'm overnighting everything again today because I saved the template and tax docs. All i have to do is sign and send.

Yeah sorry to hear that, they do say you can use any color ink but just use blue so they cannot say its a copy, I remember when I sent my application, I sent in many "Notes" about anything that might be different or questionable, just to be cautious. From what I have learned, they will checklist you for the stupidest things! I've seen ppl get checklists that make no sense and even ppl who did everything correctly! Be one step ahead of them! Even though...in the end, you will have to wait for them... :ranting:

  4. bang.gif I just called my congressman's office, and asked the assistant if asking for help with our case will help or will the Embassy be mad about it? The assistant said, no, it'll can't hurt, send us all the information, so we can get started on it. I told him about my concerns with all the political violence going on over there right now...he said to send his name, passport number, exp date, and case number and a detailed email. So i spent like 3 hours working on this email, going through all my paperwork to get the dates right for the email. I sent the email, and just called their office to confirm that they received it. nodding-yes-by-a-very-happy-smiley-emoti

    So..... Let's see what happens..nervous-prayer-smiley-emoticon.png.i-cant-look-smiley-emoticon.png

ahh yes the congressman, well maybe ill do that too good idea. Idk about any help though. Fellow Californian , I also sent a letter about a year ago and all they told me was, you have to wait. This was last year when Bangladesh was in a similar situation due tot he elections and it was chaotic there. Nope, no help. So...I don't have much hope for help but I think I'll send a letter again. Let us know if you hear anything from them!

  5. Sorry to hear of this unfortunate delay. I hope the decision was request of additional paperwork/new sponsor and not an outright denial.

Did the joint sponsor have too many in his/her household? Or sponsored others without declaring them and was caught out. I'm afraid you have to provide some personal details if you expect some meaningful help from this community. Otherwise, consider looking for a new/additional sponsor.

I think you'll get more responses from the NVC Filers thread. Traffic is relatively light here.

Yes they did not deny the visa but asked for more documents. I talked to my husband, the sponsor is above income needed but they were doubting if she is authentic or not.

Any updates about your interview? Did they Take the passport or what? And according to your previous comment I can see your friend is your sponsor , but why did you write as cousin in the letter you submitted at the interview. Hope nothing goes wrong. Hope they accept your sponsor paper.

I wrote cousin because she is very close to me and I thought it would not hurt to say she is my cousin. I am hoping to talk to her. It seems like they want a reason as to why she wants to help me if she is not my relative and show that I have a close relationship with her.

Did your joint sponsor make above the guideline last year as well as the current year?

And for them to say they don't believe that the joint-sponsor will sponsor is quite troubling like what would make them think that? Who sent in the Affidavit of support you or they sent their own in?

You may have to get another joint sponsor if they are saying they don't believe this sponsor is good enough get another. Sorry.

Yes, apparently they think that, since she is a friend, why would she co-sponsor, I am thinking of just having her write a letter or call the embassy to tell them that she has agreed to help me out even though she is not a relative. My dad was the first sponsor since I have no income and am a student but my dad does not have enough income so my friend wanted to help me. Hmm, I guess I will talk to her and if not I will have to find another joint sponsor. They said that it should be a relative, but I do not have any relatives other than my parents here who can sponsor so I am getting paranoid that they will not accept someone else as a joint sponsor who is not a relative.

Also my husband was telling me that the majority of the people he saw there were getting AP, since Bangladesh falls in one of the high fraud countries. Only like 2 or 3 of them actually were approved.

  6. Congrats! Made me laugh out loud for no more papers :P

Okay, he said they kept his pp and the intrvw was like tens mins. Five for four ques amd five to go and make a copy of an original paper. He would not take the copy my husband brought.
    The ques:
    1. Where does she live?
    2. Where does she work and spell it please
    3. When and where did you meet?
    4. When did you first meet in person?

He said the workers were making jokes, saying that our case is the biggest they have ever seen. This is bc I had included 600 pages, (that were originally 900, before I stretched the margins), of our conversations up to the I-130 application submission. And when my husband tried to give them the additional 2,000 pages, they were like, um, no, no more papers. Lol. He said they were laughing about it though.

I think his comment about, we will know in two weeks, is his way of not jinxing it.

So, we wait until visa in-hand before telling family. :D

    Thank you guys!!!!

    ❤️??.
I am doing this, too. ?. So happy!!!

You know, without y'all, I would have been so clueless and lost for so much of all this process. Still will be when we get to each next stage. So, I will be here to stay for a while. :D.

  7. Hey!

I know what it feels like! i did that, I forgot to send in a document to NVC after i read it like a million times to send it. It happens, especially when you are rushing. Don't rush, take your time, well not your sweet time :P but you know be calm when looking over things, it will help alot. Don't stress out, it is very frustrating i know. There is nothing you can do though so it is best to try to be calm so hat everything else goes smoothly...from your side at least, cant speak for NVC though.

I felt like pulling my hair out when i forgot and made a stupid mistake, but now i already have an interview scheduled and forgot about that stuff haha

    Hope you feel better!

  8. Hi guys... I'm new here and I will admit I have not read all 97 pages of this thread but I did read the last 20 pages or so. I have a few questions and I hope it's not one of those questions that get everyone worked up because it's been asked a million times, but here goes:

    1. How do we know if NVC has sent out our documents to the consulate? Or do we know at all? Call?

    2. Does it still take a week from case complete to receive the email of case complete?

    3. Are interviews still being scheduled mid and end of the month? If my case was completed 17th July, what would be a guesstimate of when my interview will be scheduled?

Thank you for being patient with me :)

    1. Yes you can call if you want but you will also know by email. Check on the CEAC website and it should say where your file is.

    2. Yes, mine took a week to come by email.

    3. Interviews are usually scheduled mid and end of month, I got case complete June 25 and got email on July 11.

    Hope this helps!

  9. The codes are a little confusing what is required are not. For starter both O and Y means the same thing.

O The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate

Y The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate

Petitioner birth certificate is marked as F, meaning NVC doesn't need it. But there are bunch of other Fs too which doesn't apply to me like Adoption, marriage termination, court records etc.

Also it Petitioner marriage certificate is also marked as F but this is my own marriage and NVC has the original.

It is a little hard to say what documents they do require on bringing! Just like adoption records doesn't apply to me, does the petitioner birth certificate not apply to me as well or does it?

I would presume that F means they do not need it, and as per the marriage certificate, I believe that is for any previous marriage certificates of the petitioner. There should be another "marriage certificate" with a different letter, indicating that it has been sent by NVC, your current marriage certificate. Hope this helps!

Good morning everyone, I have successfully re-schedule my interview earlier...Instead of August 18 will be August 5 :dance::dance:

Congrats! I am hoping to get an earlier interview also. Good Luck :)

  10. The $230 was the IV (Immigrant Visa) fee paid at NVC. The $165 will be for the actual production of the green card. two separate things.

You will pay the $165 (its not a visa processing Visa its the Green card processing fee) which they call the Immigrant fee on the ELIS website http://www.uscis.gov/uscis-elis anytime after your interview up to a year you have.

Thanks a bunch! I think I've been reading things over and over so much I had a brain fart, lol :P

  11. When filling out the I-864, if you have a joint sponsor, you can only report the beneficiary’s income and assets on either the main sponsor’s I-864 or the joint sponsor’s I-864, right? So, for the I-864 which we DO NOT include that money on, do we write “$0” for those values or “N/A” for those values?

For me, I just left the assets section blank because I did not use any assets as part of income, I did not have any problem for this section of the AOS.

  12. Great! I'll just include my partner's 2013 tax transcript only to make is less confusing (and to reduce any possibilities of writing the wrong amount and getting a checklist)!

In this case, I'm writing "N/A" for the Tax Year and Total Income for the question 13b, 13b1, 13c, an d 13c1 on I-864 form since I'm not attaching the 2012 and 2011 tax transcripts?

I sent in only 2013 tax transcripts but filled in numbers on the I-864 for 2012 and 2011, not sure if anyone put N/A or 0 and it was no problem.
