    Good morning this is tara
My fiancé had his interview on January 4th at Turkey embassy. He was given a Whit paper and they told him that it is going to take about two months to finish the Administrative processing! I have contacted the embassy recently and they told me because of high demand it may take 4 to 6 months or sometime longer ! I am really worry and concerned about this situation! i have read it online that sometimes it may take months or years to process to be done or clear ! Will our case gets expire too !? If yes what should we do and i check the Embassys Website every day and it does get updated it every other day , what does that mean !? He is from Iran by the way

    Thank you .

If it's going through administrative processing, you guys should be fine. It's normal and we've seen cases in the last of couples waiting months after the interview for administrative processing to be completed before being issued the visa. The travel ban has technically been "banned".

Huh? Im not sure what your talking about. I was directing a question to anyone who wanted to answer. It wasent referring to anything about your comments. I think you may be confused.

We were quoted six weeks of waiting. That turned into over 12 weeks for us. We have now been told to wait another 12 weeks for them to review our checklist.

Lucky you, but that is not always the case unfortunately.

Two factors for having your scan date as i read if am not mistaken from SJLOVE

    Scenario 1

    1. Submission or finishing your DS-260 on say,  january 1

    2. Sending the packet on january 1, delivered on january 3, they scanned the document and entered it to their system on january 14

    scandate would be january 14

    scenario 2

    1. Sending the packet on january 1, delivered on january 3, they scanned the document and entered it to their system on january 3

    2. Submission or finishing your DS-260 on say,  january 19

    scandate would be January 19

Exactly. We sent our documents in on December 12 and they were received on the 13th. We paid the IV bill and completed the DS-260 on the 30th, but due to a glitch on their website, though our DS-260 said completed and we got the confirmation, our scan was officially January 19th when I called to inquire about the status of our case and a rep manually submitted it for us, at that point informing us of the glitch that allowed us to believe that our packet had already been scanned and was close to nearly being case complete.

  4. We submitted our documents December 8 and they were received December 13. When I contacted NVC they said they didn't receive them until January 19 officially which became our scan date, because for whatever reason our compeleted DS 260 didn't submit until that day even though we had submitted it weeks prior. We are currently 5 weeks in on our official wait, though we actually submitted documents 10 weeks ago.

Contrary to VJ knowledge, your official scan date is when they have received your packet and your DS 260 is successfully completed. We sent our documents off under the belief that the clock started as soon as the documents were received and based on VJ responses, even if the IV bill hadn't been paid, it would still run because back then people sometimes waited weeks for the IV bill to be available.

Perhaps that what happened to your case as well?

did they drug test at the interview?  Is that normal, or specific to Morocco Consulate?  That sounds so painful, I can't even imagine the psychological torture of immigration taking so long!

No, it was before the interview a couple of years ago. The doctor didn't deliver the medical until after the interview and we got the bad news about a week later. We were told his visa would be put on hold for a year but once that year was complete, they then told us that the petition had already expired. The kicker is that we got the letter a few months later, that the petition had been returned to the US AFTER we contacted the embassy for his 3rd interview.

Just called NVC, lady replied me that your scan date is 1st December, 2016 and documents has forwarded to supervisor for review on 19th January 2017. She said me you have to wait eight(8) weeks and your 8 weeks time starts from 19th January, 2017.

That same thing happened to us. We were told our documents were accepted December 13, but we just found out our official scan date is January 19 and we are with in the 8 week waiting period at 4 weeks as of today. My poor husband just broke down and cried. We haven't seen each other in almost a year and we've been going through the immigration process since 2013. . .

  7. Reading on here, we submitted our documents to NVC as soon as we got our case number and etc ( December 13 scan date) as we had more than enough time during the NSC backlog last year to gather documents for NVC because we expected it to be a breeze. Clearly the guide on that is not the case any more ?. We submitted the AOS and Iv documents simultaneously and then paid the AOS Fee. The IV bill took a lot longer to generate and we paid that as soon as we could. We submitted our DS260 as soon as it was unlocked. Had trouble getting it to submit, but whatever, it submitted after an hour or so of clicking the submit button and the page refreshing on the last step. We got a confirmation and everything it had been submitted. How strange when we went to check our status nearly 2 weeks later that it said the application had not been submitted though we had a confirmation. We clicked summit again, and this time got a second confirmation with a submitted notification. Thinking that we were in supervisors review after calling NVC at the 7 week stage, we were informed that our case had to be manually placed in supervisor review because it had not been flagged for so and probably would have went unnoticed if we had not called. Last night we called and were informed that the clock for reviewing documents does not start until the DS 260 has been submitted. Also, though we submitted our DS260 prior to January 19, apparently because of that system error, our application was affected essentially delaying us several weeks. The case is no longer that the acceptance of documents is your scan date. Providing NVC proof of our first confirmation email was not enough to sway them to change our "scan date". Your "official" scan date per the NVC rep is when you have submitted your DS260 and all relevant documents have been notated received which was for us January 19. That is when your clock starts for the NVC to begin your wait to process your documents. Hate to say it, but the guide needs to update to reflect that the NVC process is now several months and several things about the process has since changed slightly.

  8. Called NVC, lost my mind and my temper and cursed out the rep when he told me that though my documents had been submitted December 13 and AOS and IV bills had been paid, due to system error they had only been tracking my packet since January 19 and that's when the clock started for our packet. I cursed him clean out and hung up I was so mad. We have been dealing with immigration since 2013. I'm so frustrated and wore out with this process not to mention I will deploy for a year by the time my spouse arrives fooling with NVC. I hope these senators light a fire under NVC. . .

its frustrating... but people been saying it takes 60 to 90 days instead of the 30 days.... yet i see people get cc in a 3 to 5 weeks ? its taking lots of time

If you see that, they're probably K1s or Electronic Processing which is knocked out in days from what I've seen. When we hit 7 weeks (December 13 scan date), I called and the gentleman I spoke to informed me that not only had it not been flagged for a supervisor's review, but that it has to be done manually since there doesn't appear to be an automatic system for it when it hits more than six weeks. Also, he said expect an 11-12 week wait minimum.. . .

  10. Basically anything that would force him to return home would be considered a strong tie. Families be abandoned - as I was told by a CO once - so they want to see if you have property, a job that they have been established at for sometime, bank accounts etc.

Check these videos out where a CO from Morocco explains what she looks for when approving visas:

She basically quoted the foreign affairs manual - which you can read online. My husband structured his answers based on this with proof to back it up when he applied for a visa to go on a cruise with me. They still said no. So just hope for the best for him.

  11. What

My question is if I take child care assistance and more later after getting my citizenshipif I sponsor my husband then does it negative impact on sponsorship or not ??

And us baby citizensh what benefits I can take for baby

Again, per your statement "if my income is low can I get child care group or child care assistant for my child ", I referred you to the link above. Until you can comfortably financially provide for yourself and your child, it's unlikely you will be able to bring him to the US without a sponsor. If you're seeking government assistance, most likely the government is going to look at is how likely is it your sponsor can provide and not you since you'd clearly need a sponsor's help anyway.
