  1. I have a question, is it possible to request a change of embassy once the I-130 has been approved, but before you even have a case number from NVC. I'm a British national that was living overseas when the petition was originally filed. However I am now back home in London and will go through the London Embassy. Do I have to wait till they assign me a case number then request for that to be changed to a London case number or can I avoid that?

    Thanks all

Hi I was searching the VJ to find an answer for your Q and what I found was that people were sending emails about it once they reached nvc and got case# .. but I personally think that you can call nvc as soon you get your noa2 and ask about it. is shouldn't cause any delays though.

  2. Hello guys, after I emailed SCOPSSCATA I received a reply from Nebraska SC informing me that our petition is "assigned to an officer" and should we not hear anything in 30 days, to contact them again. This is day 2.

did you get an answer that your background check is complete and now is assigned to an officer? or different ?

After NOA2 gets approved how long it will take to have status change from approved to mailed to NVC?

If you were at NSC it takes about a week for the status to change, the best would be to call nvc two weeks after your approval to find out if they have receive it.

    Exciting news... :)

How long did it take for them to write you back? I sent them an email on September 13th and still havent heard back.

Wife has been in contact with tier 2 several times and even talked to the ombudsman's office but still the same BS replies about "additional review".....

    TJ

hey, I am sorry to hear that you are still waiting, did your wife ask them when were you put for this additional review ? the exact date? tier2 should know

We also emailed scopsscata on September 14 but no reply yet. How long does it usually take them to reply if anyone knows?

we got response 3 days later.

  3. I couldn't edit my last post to you but I just called and got my case # & IIN!!! I am SOOOOOOO happy!!! They said the case was being input into the system just now so if I am not mistaken, case received today 9/17/14 and case # & IIN assigned same day. YAY! :dancing:

    woohooo :dancing:

Am i reading this correctly….the scan dates right now are of July 25-28, where people are getting either case completes or checklists. So does this mean NVC is ahead of its 60 days schedule :dancing: Because shouldn't they be on July 17 cases….?? Not complaining…i am just amazed NVC is getting its groove on….. :star: . Hopefully this is a more permanent thing and not just a fluke :alien:

yep, it looks like it is less than 60 days, I spoke to nvc few days ago and Dave told me that they are trying to decrease the reviewing time and it is less than 60 days. I hope he was right!

Ummm...sorry to hear that! :( I hope I can enter the site tonight. I've read that it takes 1 week or so for the DS-261 to be available after your case # has been assigned but I hope I can get it sooner!

Still have not been able to enter CEAC site, but I will keep checking.

When I received my IIN and case # last week I was able to fill in the ds261 the very same day and AOS bill was unlocked at the next day. So maybe today is your day ? :star:

  4. I got the IV invoice about a month after AOS invoice. You don't have to send both in one package at all. You can first pay for AOS and send out the AOS package and get that over with.

For those with lawyers, I heard they submit both at the same time though.

with new rules I do have to.

"After you collect your Affidavit of Support form(s) and financial evidence in Step 4, and supporting documents in Step 5, you must submit all of the documents in ONE package to the NVC. Your case may be significantly delayed if you fail to submit all of your documents in one package." http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Submit_documents.html

  5. I have some news for recently approved people. I called nvc today to ask about the fees and What I found out is that it still takes up to 60days for IV bill to be invoiced and after paying the fees one has to submit the ds260 and send both packages in one package..

so still it is going to take a lot of time. I just hope they will speed up with reviewing the ds261.

    :clock:

  6. Congrats nanana..sso you are starting ur NVC journey officially ..Happy for you...

Could you pls tell me how long did it took for you to get case number and IIN? and how long did it took for nvc to receive your case.Thankyou!

Thank you. Everything is in my signature.

    Good luck :)

Approval Sept 12 application date of Dec 4th what now ???

On September 12, 2014, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly.

    Woohoo !

now read read read nvc wiki and http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/contact.html

  7. USCIS sent me an email saying they shipped it on 8/29/14 (NOA2 8/18/14 I was at NSC).

NVC still has not received my case (so they say). {sigh} . . . . we just have to keep waiting. :clock: Once they "receive" the case (meaning they put it in their system), I think it's taking 2 weeks for them to assign a case # but some members have waited a month or more to get a case number. NVC told me that it takes up to 5 weeks from NOA2 date for them to receive a case from USCIS. Just fyi....although I have seen some members who have a "received date" way before the 5 weeks are up. Just keep praying they scan it in soon and assign a case # quickly!

    I got mine in 8 days :-)

  8. So I just called NVC to ask if they got the case yet. I swear it felt like I was talking to a robot. Some very rude guy, who don't even bother to say hi or even who he was. Absolutely nothing.

Just asked me the case number and I gave him. The receipt number from uscis. Like a robot, told me there's no case in the system and to call back after 25 days.

I asked if I would be invoiced the new fees since it's changing tomorrow (Sept 12th), he simply said.. He hasn't been notified of any new fee changes so no and where did I assume that from. I told him it was online. He goes, I haven't been notified so we will go by the old fees as I would consider it.

After a 40 minute hold, I get to talk to a robot who tells me he has no idea about the new fees. How wonderful! Very frustrating.

I called yesterday and spoke to Todd he was super nice. it took 3weeks from noa2 for nvc to get my case. and 8 to get case# IIN and I was able to submit ds261 yesterday as well. so you will get yours soon:) !!
  9. So I have submit my ds261 today and that is what I can read on the ceac page

"To process your case, you must first pay any required fees. Then, each applicant accompanying the principal applicant to the United States will need to complete the online IV Application (form DS-260). The IV Application may be partially completed and finished later, or may be completed at one time. However, once submitted, please contact the NVC if you need to update the form.

After submitting the DS-260, mail all supporting documentation (as listed on the Documents The Applicant Must Submitweb page) for each applicant to the NVC.

Once received, it will take the NVC 2 to 4 weeks to review your case. If any additional information is required after the review, the NVC will notify the applicant (or the applicant’s agent). "

I am especially happy about the 2 to 4 weeks part or was like that before and I still need to look for 60 days ? :)

  10. we got our IIN and case # today!

I want to submit ds 261 and when I start is shows my midden name ( i have sent my old passport photocopy to uscis with my midden name but now I have a new one with my hubby's surname)

Should I remove my old name and write what I have now in my new passport? has anyone experienced that before?

  11. Right, if you know it's going to be the same amount of hours and pay each week, it should be by the x52 (Don't hit me if I'm wrong Saylin! :P). What you can do- is see if the employer will give him a letter stating what his salary is, and how many hours a week he starts etc. They should accept that at interview!

You could- in theory have a co-sponsor in mind just in case your embassy is picky. I've seen that happened before, but it's unlikely :).

To the OP: that question is asking for CURRENT annual income, so, it's not based on how much is left of the year, but rather how much they're currently earning per year. I know it may be a little tricky to understand, but just calculate how much he'll be earning per week, then multiple by 52.

OK , that helps a lot! phew... Thank you very much for quick response.

  12. Hi nanana,

Nice to see you finally in the NVC thread! :)

Just a couple questions before I can answer this fully! (I may have the answer ;) -

Has your husband been already offered the job? If so- has the employer told them what their earnings would be yearly? What is his start date that he will be working for this new job now?

    Thanks,

Yes, he has been already offered the job, he is going to be paid by hour , full time plus over time, if everything works out he should start it on ~22 Sept.

  13. I have question about AOS, Saylin maybe you can help me ?

How do we need to count my husband (petitioner) annual income to put in I-864 form , he is not working right now, but he is going to start a new job soon. So for example he is going to make 1000$ a week , do we count the annual income as 1000 x weeks that have left in 2014 (15 I believe )or we count it x 52 weeks ?

He has met the poverty guideline in 2013 and 2012, but not in 2011.

we can't add what he made already this year to what he is about to make , am I right?

Do we need a co-sponsor in that case?

  14. Thnks nanana, tell me about NVC, any advice ?

Hmm, I think what can you do now is wait patiently for NVC to receive it ( it took 3 weeks for me ) and in meanwhile start to prepare docs for aos and IV package..

Thanks Nanana! hope we will have smooth process at NVC stage. any idea how long its taking now at NVC.

Currently it takes 3-5months at nvc, but I believe that new changes should make this time shorter :) maybe 3?we will see :D plus the time to interview of course...

  15. nanana,

m not able to find news for AOS and IV package....can you guide me where it is?

here you go my dear http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Submit_documents.html

"After you collect your Affidavit of Support form(s) and financial evidence in Step 4, and supporting documents in Step 5, you must submit all of the documents in ONE package to the NVC. Your case may be significantly delayed if you fail to submit all of your documents in one package."

the steps in nvc are different now a little, in short way it will look this way :

    choose an agent (ds261)

    pay fees

    submit ds - 260

send aos and IV in ONE package

    and wait for CC.

  16. Hey girlfriend! Nice to see you're still around. Any progress at NVC?

You bet I am still around. I am hoping everyday to see your approval !

at NVC not much is going on so far for me, I am still waiting for IIN .

I don't know if you guys heard, read there have been few changes in process. First is bad - prices will go up at 12th of Sept. Second change which I believe is a good one is to send both packages(aos and IV) together ! Maybe it will save up some time? we will see.

    http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/contact.html

I hope to see you all still waiting for noa2 at NVC soon !
