-Freedom to see a doctor without paying even when temporarily out of a job..
Maybe you didn't pay but someone is. There is nothing free about it.
I did pay for through my taxes, but I never had to worry about if my genes would not be covered by a money greedy company ...again.. freedom is not free - freedom is to live worry free (among other things)
-Freedom to make decisions about my own body as a woman (smth that this country is currently fighting) Nobody is trying to control what you do with your body. Now if you have another life inside your body, yea some people are fighting for their right to live.
In contrary to what the bible tells you, SCIENCE is your friends and will explain to you that said "life" can not survive on it's own - It is not up to the government of ANY country to force women to be living incubators. A woman's right to choose the life she wants to live and how and when she wants to become a mother, far outweighs all and any "rights" of an embryo. As always - men should have absolutely no say on the matter but always have a lot to say about it in this country.
-freedom to walk in nature on other ppl's land and camp out without permission or threat of being shot
So basically you are bragging about your right to other peoples land while forgetting that the owner has no rights if you can do whatever you want on their land.
Since you have never experienced it of course you can't understand it - NO you can't do "what you want" on their land. There are laws that have to be followed and funny enough land owners in Sweden have NO problem with this freedom - they embrace it.
-freedom to love whom I would choose
No one in America has ever not had the right to love anyone or anything they choose to love.
Yea... lol that's just not true... not too long ago a "white" and a "black" weren't allowed to be together.... just heard the other day that a gay couple got denied buying a wedding cake.... gay couples can still not be legally married in some states... loving someone also means being able to live any life they chose to with that person..
-freedom to wear what I want when I want without being sent home from school or sent away from a "public place"
I am sorry that you believe that there should be no standards at all.
And all of a sudden my freedom intrudes on "your standards", so much for freedom. Some ppl don't believe showing skin or wearing patterns or jeans to work or whatever they want is dropping any standards... you only know what you have lived..
-freedom to not be sexualized because I'm a woman,  deciding by myself if I want to swim topless (without any judgemental ppl interfering in my life)
Sorry but there is not a place on this earth that you can walk around topless and not be serialized. If you don't think so you are in denial.
I grew up with nudity not being a thing at the beach or when sunbathing in your backyard. That's fact not denial. Just because you can't imagine it... doesn't mean it's not true..
-freedom to 6 weeks vacation per year
Your employer has lost his or her freedoms because they are now forced to give you what you consider freedom. But I guess your employers freedom doesn't count here.
If what you're saying is true, then Swedish companies wouldn't be able to compete with international companies... which they can.. so you are wrong. They have not lost anything - they have gained happy employees that are more relaxed and enjoy life and work more. There are countless studies on this.. use google.
-freedom to stay home with kids for women and men with full pay for over a year per kid.
    Same answer as above.
    Again, as above
-freedom of not having to choose between having a career and a family.
So who chooses for you in your home country?
You don't have to choose, you can have both
-freedom of income security even if I get an unexpected disease.
Again your freedom comes at others expense
No, it really doesn't... don't hate it cause you don't understand it
-freedom to not be charged a fee as soon as I walk out the door..
We used to have that freedom until socialism slowly started creeping in.
Is that a joke?? Everyone charges a fee for everything you do in this country... as soon as you breathe there is a fee...

It's very easy to speak about things you have never experienced.
    In Sweden my freedoms were
-Freedom to see a doctor without paying even when temporarily out of a job..
-Freedom to make decisions about my own body as a woman (smth that this country is currently fighting)
-freedom to walk in nature on other ppl's land and camp out without permission or threat of being shot
-freedom to love whom I would choose
-freedom to wear what I want when I want without being sent home from school or sent away from a "public place"
-freedom to not be sexualized because I'm a woman,  deciding by myself if I want to swim topless (without any judgemental ppl interfering in my life)
-freedom to 6 weeks vacation per year
-freedom to stay home with kids for women and men with full pay for over a year per kid.
-freedom of not having to choose between having a career and a family
-freedom of income security even if I get an unexpected disease.
-freedom to not be charged a fee as soon as I walk out the door..

    Etc etc etc
I can go on for ever... socialism isn't a "bad word"
And No... I'm not moving back  (atleast not right now) the choice to move here,  wasn't based on those things - but I miss them dearly... and it's nobody else's place to tell ppl to "go back".

Okay, I am sorry. Let me rephrase. You have more terrorists in america who can kill big groups of people inside a school/cinema/mall then there is terrorist attacks in europe.

To everyone who says Oh look whats happening in Europe, nothing is happening their. There have been a few terrorist attacks yes. Terrible? For sure.
Meanwhile every american here knows someone who got shot. Guns kill more people here in the states yearly then terrorist attacks in europe. Maybe look at your own country before judging other countries?

I'm a European, a Dutch European to be exact and I have yet to see what exactly the open borders are causing that's really significant to absolute distruction on this side of the globe , I wish in general  people would be more specific than just say look what's happening in Europe, Europe consists of so many countries and even European nationals can bomb a country, the country where they were born and raised...so yeah no...not to be rude but, let's just stick to our own national issues and let's call a thing a thing. And whomever pays attention to a the current political climate in the US has alot of time on their hand, I was thought always to clean up after my own mess, they voted him into office so let them clean it up. In the meantime worry about your future and keep calm during this immigration proces.

What you and some others here are missing is that with this executive action he has encouraged even more illegal immigration. You don't discourage illegal behavior by rewarding it.

I still don't like people coming to this country illegally. And I am very much in favor of adopting policies that will remove the incentive to come here illegally. That would mean that we'd have to seriously go after those that employ illegal immigrants. It's the only way to slow the flow there are no other magic bullets out there that will do it. I'd be very supportive of such legislative action. But I won't hold my breath.
Meanwhile, there are many illegal immigrants here. Some of those know no other place than America. The home that you would want them sent back to is foreign to them. And it is just not realistic to round up and deport millions of people. It's not going to happen. Everyone knows that. So we have to find a way to deal with the folks that are here. Everyone knows that, too. I'd be happy with a plan that lets them stay but doesn't give them a path to citizenship. A solution that prevents them from sponsoring others for immigration. But to keep them living in constant fear of deportation and support a status quo that makes them vulnerable for exploitation is just not humane.
Yes, I had stronger feelings against illegal immigrants in the past but the more I think about the issue, the more I come to the realization that you can't hoard them all back across the southern border. Which would be difficult anyways since many of them never came across that southern border to begin with nor are their places of origin located down that way. So yes, my position on the issue has evolved. It's what happens with people that aren't ideologues and that don't subscribe to doctrines.

Then we need to let all the prisoners out of jail. Murderers, rapists, pedophiles, terrorists, etc.
This tactic of lying by false framing demonstrates how despicable your position is. The false framing is to refuse acknowledging the most important issue: that these people KNOWINGLY broke the law. To gain false sympathy for your position, you pretend they are sitting at home in their own country, minding their own business, and the government came along to break their family up.
Numerous times the president lied through his teeth about how this was all about accepting responsibility for your actions, when it is precisely the opposite: asking the law-breakers to specifically come forward and be rewarded ahead of those who are following the law. It is incredible really, how you are pretending to care for "families" when punishing the law abiding families and rewarding the law breaking families.
This is such a no-brainer, and probably one of the more important things you are blind to is the political calculation involved here. It means order of magnitude more votes for the Democrats, the people who just got their asses kicked in this last election. Not only is it a vote from the illegal immigrant, but for their children, the corporation that hired them illegally, their Friday poker buddies, etc. Using the illogical arguments, the lying, the manipulative bunk: that is all about covering up what is really going on. Obama waited until after the elections to announce this. Why? Because the Democrats would have been crushed, flattened, and run out of the country had he done it beforehand. That is how cynical this is.
While these purile, filthy arguments are peddled about "families", the people who understand the reality of politics know that being against this puts anyone in the opposition in a horrible catch-22. Once rights have been vested by government, it is nearly impossible to take them away. They're in. And it is more likely to be ten million than it is five million. Let's see, the Iraq War was said to pay for itself off the oil revenues we were going to seize. So far it has cost trillions. Social Security was going to fund itself at a worker/retiree ratio of 13:1. Now it is down almost to 2:1 - two teens supporting each wealthy retiree that doesn't need the money like the teens do for - say - the health insurance they are now required to buy despite not needing doctors.
This too will be wildly larger than what they are already admitting to. Not one word about processing them: there has not been one penny allocated to it yet, no people being trained to process, so what does that mean for the people who applied legally? It means we kick them in the teeth. We pose law breakers as these noble, more worthy saints and the law abiding as nothing more than dirt under your feet.
Look who he is expanding the budget for: border security! Gah! He is going to hire more of them, he already gave them raises, and these are people that have LESS TO DO. Whereas processing is going through the roof. This is the kind of things historians look back on and scratch their heads wondering how idiotic we can be.

So happy to report VISA APPROVED!!!!
Hubby was in and out in under and hour. He said the lady working at window 7 was a little intimidating as he overheard the people in front of him getting grilled. He was hoping to get another window, but when they called him up "Window 7" ha ha. He said he was sh*tting himself. But, then he tamed the tiger and got approved. It was all very anticlimactic and he wasn't told specifically that he was approved, but she told him all about what would happen with putting the visa in the passport and receiving it in about a week. So, he called me after and said "I think we got approved" and I a was like "What do you mean THINK" I said as long as they didn't ask you to send anything further and told you they are posting the passport with the visa in it we are approved. I think he was expecting to walk out of there with a piece of paper stamped APPROVED or something.
Funny, in the end we never got asked for a joint sponsor even though my job is not continuing in the States. I had my sister fill everything out in case, but it wasn't needed. However, I did send hubby with a house valuation, bank account info etc. to prove we can provide for ourselves.

Well I must say this is the best Friday I have seen on VJ in a year. I am so happy for everyone, it has been a long time coming. My wife is doing backflips. She has been calling all her friends and family today. I can't express my happiness enough, for us as well as for everyone else. Have a beautiful evening and start planning!

Congratulations on the CC. Welcome to the group. And NVC needs a time out.
I can remember when they wouldn't announce until they had all slots filled or ran our of people for that country. Than a massive batch job would drop and inbox's full of interview. We didn't have to call and that was just 2012 and early 2013.
Looks like they trying a new thing (me thinks they know we watching them).
So NVC what you got for us.

I agree that this wait is better than getting a checklist and waiting for 60 days. It was a huge relief having case complete without a single checklist, not even a false one. I had been scared seeing so many people getting checklists, they even claimed they made no mistake. Was that a rumor about interview scheduling? I wonder if I will make it to a November interview seeing as people with case complete as far back as September 10 are waiting.

Thanks for calling Austin! I am sorry to be negative guys, but I just cannot believe this #######. Every single step of the way... you get a CC and you are so happy, and then you think WOW, in just a week I should have an interview date, awesome!! And then of course it is all a lie, and as usual, just when it is your turn there is some sort of inexplicable delay out of nowhere. It does't even matter that I got a CC on Sept 11; I could've gotten a CC on September 30th and I'd be in the same freaking spot I am now. I didn't make one single mistake in this whole process, no RFEs at USCIS and no checklists at NVC so why am I still here? I am SO over all of this!!
PS, I would've put this in the rant thread, but since most people there don't have CCs yet, I figure it would be cruel to complain to them...

    Hi All,
Just an FYI in case anyone is interested in working on this with me, I filed an FOIA request with State for NVC records, inspired by waiting_______'s request for similar records from USCIS. Here is the text of the request:
I am requesting any and all records relating to the current massive delay in processing US citizen immediate family immigrant visas at the National Visa Center. Types of records may include emails, internal memoranda, communication with other government agencies including USCIS, communication from Congressional Representatives' staff, inquiries from House and Senate oversight committees, and letters from US citizen petitioners. Records may go as far back as September 2012 when DACA petitions began at USCIS: what communication happened between USCIS and NVC? Did USCIS warn NVC about the massive increase and backlog in processing of petitions? Records around May-August of 2014 are of particular interest: as USCIS was clearing up its backlog of DACA-delayed I-130 and I-129 petitions, did they warn NVC? What did NVC do to prepare for the additional burden of petitions? What did NVC do to plan ahead for the rush of petitions coming from USCIS? What did NVC management decide to do and to whom did they decide to communicate or not their decisions? What did they decide to communicate or not to Congress and US citizens who made inquiries into the delays? What if any were management's reactions to the New York Times article in February 2014 regarding the delays? Did anyone at NVC see the trainwreck coming?
I also have the information I need to do a follow up request to USCIS around their plans and capacity to handle DACA renewals, which should be starting to flow to USCIS now.
    Jon

A big deal for me there were no checklists, as I am self-employed, and sent a 2013 return, not transcript.

Depends on when you sent it. If it's near the 60 day mark, then I would hold off but if it has been about 2-3 weeks and you have other documents which will need to be submitted after then sending it in won't hurt at all. I sent my 2013 return with w-2 and it was accepted, didn't need to send in a transcript. Sounds like a case complete to me!!! Congratulations! Please make sure to call and confirm tomorrow! Good luck!
