  1. Very disheartening phone conversation with the NVC this morning. 1) Still no IV invoice (they said it should be next week). 2) Although our AOS was emailed on May 21st they didn't actually actually accept it until June 13th, meaning electronic processing saves no time. This means that even once we are allowed to pay and send the IV documents we're looking at 6 weeks from when they are sent before they will get to them. 3) This makes me pretty sure that any hope of an August interview is out and that I am looking at a September interview.

This causes major problems for me because I have to leave my job next month if I would like to move prior to January. So its either live apart until January or live without a job for 3 months....

    When did you submit DS261?

  2. Slow start on the NVC front today... Didn't turn the phones on until 7.04. Fortunately I now know the hold music so well these days that I was able to mange to concentrate on tv while on hold rather than staring st the iPad willing someone to answer!

Carla (is she new?) told me to wait 30 business days then call back....umm... Yeah, thanks, I'll speak to you tomorrow. Cheers.

Not sure if I already asked you this question but did you have a lawyer? :P. You were invoiced IV fee in 14 days after completion of DS261 while most of us have been waiting for almost 30 days.

  3. Well this day keeps getting better! I got a call from the Democratic Party inviting me to some campaign kick-off this Saturday. My do-nothing representative and senator will be there. You bet your tooshie I'll be there!!!

And I had to cut the conversation short to say goodnight to my husband because he's still not here and these DFL politicians contributed nothing. The guy on the phone said "I'm going through something similar! Can I speak with you more?" This could get interesting lol

Congrats on the case complete!!!! :)

    Party time for you :D

  4. Oh, believe me, I have... no one was willing to put me through to a supervisor. Liz did say she was sending it up the line to a supervisor, but there seemed to be no sign of that when I called back this week. I've decided to just wait - it's not worth waiting on hold for ages just to have them say "we have no record of that... wait 30 business days". I'm totally ready to send my IV package the instant I pay the bill (whenever that may be) so I'll just be satisfied with that for now.

Sorry to hear that. This whole process was extremely frustrating in the beginning and now it is not only frustrating but it is also depressing. I thought, looking at trends in march, once we pass uscis we will cruise through NVC in 2 months. Just super frustrating.

  5. On I864A, Place of residence..I did not put N/A..

many people got checklist for that

so im waiting for mine. that's like a 100%....

Oh no! :(. You didn't put the same address as current address. Just because many people got a checklist doesn't mean you will get one either. Think positive. I also didn't put NA for sponsorship page and I know few people got checklist for that too. Also, on my W2 income is in .xx and on return it was rounded so worried I might get one too. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and I :)

  6. I think he meant was he put down Gross income instead of total income. If it's 1040, then it should be total income, only 1040-ez will be gross income..

Because actually 1040-EZ's gross income is same as 1040 or 1040A total income... 1040-EZ is only when you have W-2 or any other compensation such as unemployment or interest income, otherwise 1040A or 1040 applies..

I feel bad for all of us who waited so long and got a checklist for a stupid thing... I'm waiting for my checklist for not putting N/A =( and idk when that will be :cry::clock::clock::clock:

Why are you expecting a checklist? You forgot to put N/A for what?

  7. No, i do alot of freelance work...i could not file 1040ez. I cant believe another month just got added. And I cannot get my lawyer on the phone.

I know it is extremely difficult to go through this process specially when you waited so long at USCIS already. If you filed 1040 then you should have reported your total income on i864. See if it was NVC error and not your lawyer's error?

  8. In other news, and totally off topic, I have the first music recital of the season today (I'm a voice teacher). I can't wait to hear the adorable 7 year old sing "Happy". I will miss my little munchkins when I've moved to the US. (I know there are cute kids there for me to teach, too, though)

    :luv:(F)

I have been following your timeline and I know you ended up resubmitting DS261 just like me. Any luck with IV yet?

  9. I cant take it...I just got email checklist. I feel like a knife has been plunged into my heart. No chance now to get my wife here in August. :( Lawyers are worthless!

It says its for Item 13.a.1 Total gross income reported...I DID put total gross income!!! Damnit! I am so depressed!

Sorry to hear you got checklisted.

But if you filed 1040ez then it should have been Adjusted Gross income and not total gross income per form i864, no?

  10. You were our awesome psychic in the September thread, hows about some more of your psychic powers now? :-P

    Haha I remember those days!

Honestly, as we are hearing from multiple NVC agents and now also supervisors, I believe we might be able to use it. But knowing NVC doesn't follow it's own guidelines when issuing checklists for aos, I am afraid they might be even more brutal when it comes to us not following the process for IV!

  11. I did some reading on bar codes and this is what I found:

"Barcodes are often used to separate batches of paper documents for image scanning. In this scenario, barcodes attached to separator pages contain only generic information. Adding barcode pages adds a negligible amount to the document preparation time, but it saves time further down the line as users are able to load batches of documents into the scanner at the same time.

This is a very basic use of barcodes in document processing. However, it significantly speeds up the scanning process as human intervention is minimised."

This indicates that the AOS and IV Barcodes serve two different purposes and it is likely that sending the AOS barcode coversheet with IV documents could result in the documents being scanned as AOS docs. In other words, vaguely knowing how the boys and girls at the NVC roll, there's a good chance that this can cause loss of documents or checklists. We can learn from the person that sent it..I hope I am wrong and it can save us all a valuable 2-3 weeks.

Last thing I want is documents being lost or get a checklist for something silly.

I completed my ds261 on may 24 so might as well wait for couple more weeks.

  12. Barcodes can look the same but contain different information when scanned. The person who sent theirs will be able to confirm through the operator if their documents were correctly scanned or not.

However, this shortcut might generate a checklist if it the barcode correlates to payment clearing your bank. If the barcode represents payments being processed then the AOS barcode would not have IV fee payment info...

Very Good point. If they are linked to IV payment then it could generate a checklist. Who knows? Not even sure if it is worth taking the gamble?

  13. What does the bar code stand for? Is it a unique identifier that routes the AOS documents to the AOS department and the IV documents to the IV department? Are the two bar codes any different?

They must serve some sort of purpose when it comes to scanning. I wonder if scanning the AOS barcode shows AOS documents and if scanning the IV documents shows IV.

It may also have something to do with the processing fees being paid.

Can the person who sent his civil documents in using the AOS cover sheet ask them if they scanned his package? Do they recognize it as civil documents when they scanned it?

Per my understanding both barcodes look the same. Not sure if they are identical though? This is a tricky part. They many look the same but may not be same. Who knows they are barcodes!

Good point about someone who used aos cover sheet to send civil docs. They can confirm if his/her docs were scanned as civil or aos??

Saylin - can you please weigh your opinion here?

  14. That makes sense that they're not working OT, they're moving way too slow. Maybe they want to take 30 business days on purpose.

The whole IV with the AOS bar code sounds fishy...

Very fishy, why in the world would they not let us send both packets under one barcode to begin with? Why are they advising it now? May be they changed the policy? Too many unknown questions and confusion.

  15. thanks BOS, but I heard some people get check listed for rounding up the number, my tax paper does not shows numbers in cents, I put what ever I have on my tax, but it only shows dollars (ex $20,000.00), please advice, thanx

This is exactly what my concern is. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and I. I think everyone who sends tax return and W2 would run into the same issue as us. Because it is rare that anyone would have $.00 on W2, while tax return software almost always rounds it off
