How long is everyone’s estimated times? Mine says June 2020. I know that here in Houston it’s taking forever.

I applied on line and it says estimated time is 10 months, but of course it depends on the number of application they received. It may be sooner or maybe later.

I’m filing under 5 years. No issues with that but my only concern is that my current wife has lost her greencard and we don’t have copy either. Although I have the details of her green card so I was checking if I need to enter the details of her greencard in my application or submit a copy?

When you file online you can see which documents you need to attach. I think there is no need to attach your wife's green card. The advantage of using online is you can review it and edit it again and again before you submit it. You will need your green card front and back and tax transcript  from IRS for the last 5 years.

One more question: Before Filing for my 10 year’s greencard, my marriage didn’t work out and we got divorce but after waiting for 2.5 years and an interview , I got my permenant Greencard approved.

As I got married again during last year December, do I have to include my current wife’s copy of the Greencard in my online application? She has lost her Greencard and she doesn’t have a copy of it either and has to apply for a replacement. If the copy of her Greencard has to be part of my online application package I don’t have a choice than waiting or since I know the information of her A#, date issued of her lost greencard, I can include that if a actual copy is not required. Please advise.

Are you filing under 5 year residency or 3 year married to US Citizen? You are divorced to USC if you will file under 3 year rule and your current wife is Green Card Holder. I am not sure if you are eligible under 3 year rule.

    Hello everyone,

Since I’m eligible to file for N-400, my lawyer contacted me and wanted to file as soon as possible. As I was looking online what’s the filing process upon which I found out that there’s an option to files online as well. So I mentioned this to my lawyer as i have found from VJ portal and few of my friends who applied online and got a very quick response and became citizen, but my lawyer doesn’t agree with that and tells me that there have been many issues if you file online and since he does this everyday I should mail my paper work instead.

I don’t agree with him so that’s why I would like some feedback from folks on this forum to share their experience with online filing and kind of advise what should be done. I’m already eligible to file online and would like to do that but couldn’t decide as my lawyer oppose to file online and want to mail the paperwork.

    Thanks!

The lawyer's business is to make money. When I was filing for my AOS my husband hired a lawyer, all he did is to give us the application forms and he mailed it to USCIS. It is not cheap we paid him 2K just for that. I wish I knew visajourney.com to spare what we paid for that service. The lawyer even ask us 1K if he will go with us during the interview. But no thanks to his offer. I've had 3 applications ( 2 Petitions for Alien Relatives and Removal of Condition) without the help of  lawyer and thanks so much with the help of Visa Journey Members who are willing to help if I don't know what to answer in the application forms. Now I'm done filing for Naturalization online and for me it is very convenient. Thanks to Going Through vj member for encouraging us to go online. After 2 days of submitting on line because it's late Friday when I submit it, then Monday morning I got notification that they received my application and I got Biometrics appointment. So, application on line is convenient.

So di n po sila humingi ng approval? Ubg request letter lng po b dinala nila?

Sinubmit lang nila un at iniwan, then after 1 month or so dumating ung passport with visa stamped in it. Kung di mo pa naisubmit ung Retention letter with Cenomar mainam dalhin mo in person then ask mo what's next. Kung naibigay mo naman lahat ng requirements at lagpas lagpas na sa2 2 months mainam nyan mag inquire ka na. Current na ba ang Priority Date mo?

Mam ano po pala yung way ng pagrecv nipa ng approval? Vial email b or postal mail?

Walang anuman.

Thanks sir for making time yo answer my questions, I just want to say that I only have th two years green card and it expired last year. I still didn’t receive my ten years green card  , so is it ok to use my expired green card? Thanks again

Other immigrants that filed for the Removal of Condition are applying for Naturalization while they are waiting for their green card to come.. You are eligible on a 3 year basis married to USC for 3 years and been permanent Resident for 3 years on October 2018. 3 months prior to this date you can start the application but still the Immigration will wait to complete your 3 years residency before they start the processing of your application. While you are waiting better gather the documents that you need to attach to your application. Yes you can use the expired green card and attach also the extension letter from the removal of condition.

Hi guys, in this October I will be having my green card for three years, I’m married to a us citizen since 2015, I got my green card on October 2015, I applied for the 10 years green card last year,  on October 2018 I will be having my green card for 3 years, I heard that I can start filling my citizenship application three months before .. if any body had the same experience I would love to hear from you guys about this .. any information would be so appreciated.. I’m exited to start my application for the citizenship I just wanna know what to do exactly and how long it gonna takes before I become a us citizen

I filed my N-400 on a 3 year basis ie. 3 years married to US Citizen with 3 years residency. I filed online. You are correct you can start your application 3 months ahead of your 3 months residency/ marriage. You need to prepare the documents such as your Green Card, Marriage Contract, Birth Certificate of your husband, 3 years tax transcript from IRS, if you have child/ children you need to attach their birth certificate, bank statement, life insurance. For me it is convenient to apply on line. You can review again and again  before you submit it. You can pay online too using your credit/ debit card. I submit my application last June 29, 2018 Friday night and Monday I have notification that they received my application. Monday also I have notification for my Biometric appointment on July 16. Today I received from the mail the copies of these 2 Notifications.

  16. If you are against Trump this is what you will believe. Trump has nothing to do with people who wants to Naturalize. He is against illegal immigrants especially to criminal illegal immigrants. For me I don't have to worry I can wait patiently when will my application be approved. For us legal migrants who spent too much to process our applications and waiting for to be approved. We should support Trump and let illegal immigrants to stop in US.

Hello everyone my story is long but I hope u will take ur time to read it and give me appropriate suggestions. I came here on K-1 visa. Married before my 90 days. Got my conditional Green card in March 2014 and I have some few concerns and anyone with good advice will be highly appreciated.. My wife kicked me out on 2nd July 2018 and that was our 5 years of marriage. The last one year in the marriage was really a hectic for me. She called police like 5 or 6 time on me but anytime the police come in and hear the 2 side, they kept on asking her that, she is wrong and they can't do anything for me just because I was asking her to pay bills especially car insurance, Duke energy,Water and cable anytime the money was given to her for those things. I remembered she got mad one time with one of the police officers that they always on my side whenever she called them. And that she gonna sue them but I really don't know how it ended up and since then she don't called police again till this time.  We are living in her mother's house and all the bills are in her late sisters name. Anytime I asked her to change the bills in our name, she will refused and finally she took her mother to a nursing home. That broke my heart so badly. 2nd July will be our 5 years of marriage.Though we  have been having marital problem as each couple do at times, the whole thing is that, most of the arguments happen when it's time for bill payments. Anytime my direct deposit goes into our joint account, she will withdraw the cash and then overdraft the account again. She work but her money dont go into our joint account. So sad. Now we jointly filed the remover of condition and that petition has been pending with the USCIS for over two years now. So many info pass appointments but nothing came up. The only answer to me is wait and that ur case is still pending. My case was file since February 16 ,2016, we went to the interview October 12 2017 and after the interview, the officer said we were approved and that the green card will be in the mail within weeks, still no card. I called many times but the same issue (pending) and I went there again in  April 2018 and that was 6 months after the interview to really know what's really going on and they again stamped my passport for the second time with I-551 and said my case is pending..I contacted a lawyer and he said the only thing I can do is to file citizenship now. And that will make them to make a decision on my case but he said he will suggest for me not to change my address now. Now my question is,if I don't change my address and a letter from the USCIS came and she refused to give it to me, what can I do? I called the police  to come to witness what she did by putting my things out and changing the locks. One of the police officers advice me that,I should just leave if not she can falsely accuse me of something that I didn't do like domestic voilence and that will be worse scenario for me . What really can I do now?? I need help please. Thank u all

I am so sorry how your wife treated you. The policeman is right for suggesting to leave that your wife might falsely accused you and you will be more in trouble. About applying for Naturalization you only need 3 months to live in your new address you are eligible on a 5 years residency. Your pending 10 year green is already approved. It will be triggered when you apply your Naturalization as some VJyers are saying and doing. I suggest to apply online but you need to create an USCIS account first which you can file online. USCIS will give you update on what's going on with your application. You can view to your account if Biometrics appointment is scheduled. You will receive updates from USCIS through online and they will send you also paper notification. Some are suggesting you to get a POBox and that is a good idea.  I wish you success in your future life.

    Wait.

Upon naturalization, the cases for your kids automatically become F1 cases.  However, USCIS and the NVC will continue to process the cases as F2b until you update them with your proof of US citizenship.  Once you notify them that you are a USC, then they will process the cases as F1.  Then, you can ask for F2b retention.

The best time to ask for F2b retention is about 6 years from now when you have a clearer idea on whether staying in the F2b category would be faster than the F1 category.

There is no way to know how the F1 and F2b categories will move in the next 7 years.  The F1 category could end up being faster than the F2b category and F2b retention would be a bad idea.

Thank you for your advise. You are right the movement of F2B and versus F1 are not predictable, but most of the time the F2B is faster than F1. Have you requested the opt out for yourself or for your relatives? I want to plan very well  as I am starting to file for my Naturalization. I don't want for my sons to wait more years than I am expected. 10 years are too long enough. Their PD is Feb. 5 2014.

  19. I am planning to apply for Naturalization. I have 2 petitions under F2B category. When I am Naturalize my petition will automatic be upgraded to F1. My sons need to request to opt out to automatic conversion. According to Visa Bulletin their Priority Date will take 7 years more to be current. My question is when is the best time for them to send the request of F2B retention from DHS US Embassy in Manila. This letter is necessary during their interview if their petition is on the process. Thank you.
