Welcome to the forum! Being here has been a lot of help for my husband and I, and we hope you and your fiance will have the same experience too. Follow the guides and for any questions or doubts, ask and post in the corresponding sub-forum and you'll get their opinions based on their experiences.

My POE was Seattle and I hated the immigration officer that handled my entry and paperwork. I would understand if they're trying to weed out undocumented immigrants or TNT but she all the information she provided proved that she was just there for the wedding and that she could afford to stay for two months. But I guess any immigrant wanting to stay for more than a month is already a red flag? Sobra naman.

Hi guys! Well, with the help of my MIL, we filed our paperwork sometime on October 1, 2013. We haven't received any receipt or notice they got it yet though.
I took a chance with medical. I sent in a copy of vaccinations from the medical back home instead of the 693 from civil surgeon here since they seemed to want to give me all kinds of shots and examinations I already had. I hope it won't be bad.
We did the same thing and just had a copy of my medical vaccinations in the package. My husband and I did discuss it and he said we could just wait till they ask us to supply a form I-693. Reading the instructions, the K1 need not give a I-693 but could instead provide a copy of the medical supplement (the DS 3025) they were given during the medical required for the K1 prior to coming to the US. However, I've been reading some (mostly from the Philippines) who have been required to provide I-693. Que sera sera. Whatever will be, will be.

We've sent off the AOS package finally
Hopefully there won't be any issues, I am itching to get a job!
Looking into volunteering also, what are the rest of you beneficiaries in the US doing with your spare time?
I'm also ready to get my Maryland driving license sorted, I need to take a drug and alcohol program (which includes a 15 minute test I will take tomorrow), a knowledge test and then the practical test before I can get a license so they don't make it easy for us foreigners to come in and start driving on their streets here (crazy 'cos so many MD drivers are bloody awful!)
Stuart
I feel the same way. I want to find a job too, any job. I just don't like being idle for this long work-wise. I want to volunteer to and in-laws suggested volunteering for the church which is just two houses away. During my spare time I do chores, even if I don't have to. Just because I do want to do something every once in a while lol. Driving is also part of my next goals >_> I have no experience in driving, since there was no need for it back in my country. Public transportation was everywhere.
Beautiful pictures! I love your dress!
Awesome...Congrats. We're just going to get married at city hall to satisfy all of the legal requirements and then have a ceremony we can plan for later. Can't wait to get to that point.
Congrats! That's okay. I think most of us here have the same plan too. If all goes right, we plan ours sometime in spring or summer. If it doesn't work out, we'll push for our anniversary date.

They keep it. I think they get to it when the AOS is sent to USCIS.

We're having his mom help us our getting W2s and tax transcripts done. Yup, that check was a hard one for my husband to write too, but we did get help from his parents. Thanks Stuart and Katie. I know. It's just saddening to see him frustrated. It's either he's overqualified and they don't see him staying in the company for long term or he's qualified but doesn't have any supervisory experience. Tomorrow was a very frustrating day. Hope this day will be better.
Hope everyone's having a great day too!

For those who have sent in or has already finished their AOS, do I need to include my personal copy (or a photocopy) of my NBI clearance when we send our AOS in? Just curious, and that I just want to make sure we would have everything in the package before we send it out.

You can put the correct 90 day date that was stamped in the passport upon entry and add the note to explain the mix up with the I-94 being given at a later date. You could also just put the I-94 expiration date and then still add a note about the mix up and expiration date stamp in the passport. I believe either way will be okay since you send in copies of the I-94, K-1 visa and passport entry stamp.
Thanks Jay-Kay! I can breathe in relief now.
-
Use the date your I-94 expires. The K-1 becomes null and void when you use it to enter. The expiration date on the K-1 was only the time you had to use it to enter the US.
Jay-Kay, knowing that my I-94 date expiration is wrong, should I still put it November 9, 2013? I know that correct expiration date should be October 30 since that will be 90 days after POE.

I have been trying to find a link on youtube but I can't find it. I just see updates of the event from my Facebook friends. )
-
Oh as for that part it asked to write the name as ut is on I-94, I followed. Didn't see it on the EAD though. Let me double check. Sorry about that. It's been a crazy morning today
-
I've been putting my married name on the forms. I think as long as you provide a copy of your marriage certificate, it's okay.
-
It's okay. well I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be the same dates. The visa expires after 90 days. And the I-94 should reflect the same thing too. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
-
Oooh gosh. Well, hubby wasn't able to get the full time job he liked. The manager said they can't take one more due to Obamacare. /sighs
On topic though, yes all of us should keep each other updated regarding our AOS processes. That way, if any one of us needs help or advice, we could all help out.
-
Thanks Jay-Kay! We'll definitely do that.

Well, there's no issue with the real entry date (August 1, 2013). I'm just confused which date I should use for when my current USCIS status expires. Thanks though. I guess I could go for the first one since that's the one written on my passport.
Has anyone experience the same thing and had any issues like RFEs?

We are now trying to get things together for our AOS now that we have the funds for the fee. My concern however is that our I-94 was finished at the Kansas Airport (our POE was Seattle and Kansas office told us that the Immigration officer from POE didn't "close" my paperwork so my I-94 did not exist until Kansas put all my info in it).
In my passport, my K1 visa was stamped good until 10/29/2013. On my I-94, it says "Admit until Date: 2013 November 09"
I didn't have any problems when I applied for the SSN. We were just asked why there was a difference with the dates. We explained, and the personnel accepted it.
So I'm just confused. What should I put on the I-485 on the box that asks when my current USCIS status expires?

We filed the AOS petition along with EAD and Advanced Parole on March 29, 2013. We received the letter of approval today 9/26/13. Just shy of 6 months.
Alright! Thanks! I guess average processing time is 6 months. Here's hoping our AOS journey would have the same processing time too.

You can try to get the SSN in her maiden name before getting married provided it has been at least two weeks after POE so that her I-94 is available then just have it changed after marriage. My experience in Missouri has been good though, because we were able to get my SSN in my married name after marriage without any problems.
-
That's okay! We didn't hire any photographer too due to us deciding to just keep it to a minimum budget till we could afford a bigger wedding celebration.
-
Congrats! How long was the AOS process for you guys?
-
We're so happy for you Holly and Eslem! Enjoy planning the wedding and the fact that you'll be together now, no distance to worry about again.

We'll pray for him. It's kinda like that with my youngest sister too. She didn't get sick but she cried a lot and didn't speak much to my then fiance. Tell him you'll always be there, you'll call or video chat, and you will visit asap when you can, and that he needs to be healthy again so you and the family could plan another day out when you and your husband visit again.
I know it's tough to be away from the family but you'll always be there for them. I had a hard time leaving too. Like what my husband says, "It's never goodbye. It's see you soon."
And congrats Warren and Vivian!
