You're not the only one! I woke up today to feed the dog and I soon as I went out there was this chilly breeze, smoke was coming out of my mouth, and my hands hurt from the cold I have yet to see snow though. My husband says they don't get snow till mid or late December.

Our thoughts and prayers to them. I cried when I saw the dead bodies covered with cloth or tarpaulins. Most of them were kids and old people.

Thank you for your reply. It does make me feel a little better that they accepted your co-sponsor. What is a MIL though?
Mother-in-law His mom helped us out for our K1 and now our AOS. Just go ahead with having a co-sponsor and take your chance like we did.
-
Regarding the co-sponsorship, it has always been a 50-50 chance of them accepting it or not. However in our case, they accepted my MIL to be the co-sponsor and they approved us, yet we were worried that they wouldn't accept it as well. You could always try and have a co-sponsor that is a family member, just bring all the supporting documents. It's still a chance though.
Maybe some of the other member could give you their two cents regarding the I-134 concern.

YAY! Now all we gotta do is wait for updates on our EAD/AP's. LOL. Aww, I haven't met any Filipino/a yet that has tried to talk to me in Tagalog. They must think I was born and raised in a non-Tagalog household.
He saw my passport and then started saying Tagalog more fluently than my husband. Most of my husband's relatives were surprised that speaking in English was easy for me, and I told them that I think watching American shows on cable TV, like How I Met Your Mother might've helped. XD Sorry for being OOT.
I guess now I'm just waiting for the EAD. Does the USCIS website change something in the status of your case/s when one finished their biometrics appointment?
-
Biometrics appointment went well. The security officers talked to me in Tagalog XD All in all, it was a good experience.
-
Kumi and Drake my hubby had his biometrics at the USCIS in KC on Tuesday (10/29). It was easy we were in/out in 15 minutes. Sounds like you have everything you need.
Thanks! I'll let you guys know what happens tomorrow.

They'd need identification, so Passport should be best and must be your main document. It's actually in the biometrics letter. The passport is in your maiden name though, right? If you applied for AOS under your married name, you'd need to have your marraige certificate with you to prove legal name change. The SSN doesn't have your photo though, and I asked the lady assisting me with my biometrics (because there was a blank on the screen she was working on that said SSN and it wasn't filled up), she said she doesn't need my SSN.
Got it! Thanks! I have the passport, and marriage certificate, together with the biometrics appointment letter ready in my folder .
-
Nope, it can be just you. Just make sure you bring your Passport AND Marraige License with. If you have a State Issued ID / Driver's License bring it with you too (if available). Just for good measure.
In the interview, however, the US Citizen spouse should be present. I think. (Anybody please correct me if I'm wrong. )
Thanks! I'll be with my MIL. It's a 30-minute drive to Kansas City and I can't drive lol. I don't have any other ID so I would just have to bring my passport, unless the SSN card counts.
-
Would they need the AOS applicant be with their US Citizen spouse during the biometrics appointment? My husband won't be able to come with me because of job orientation, so we'll ask my father-in-law to accompany me instead.

We did the same thing too three weeks after POE. We had to go to the Kansas Border & Customs Agency because the officer in Seattle never finished our paperwork. We were advised we could file a complaint but we never got the Seattle officer's name :|

Most would say get the SSN first before getting married since a lot of people had problems with getting married first and then getting their SSN afterwards. However, this is entirely up to your discretion. Which office location will you apply at? Other members may tell you their experience with that specific SS office. In our case, we got my SSN (at their office in Independence, MO) a couple of weeks after getting married and we didn't encounter any problems.
Here's the guide for getting the SSN: http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn
Besides those requirements, I also brought with me my original marriage certificate (they just took a look at mine), and my birth certificate. I got my card two weeks after that visit.

How about set up your skype and surprise her that her family's online?
-
No, I did not. I only included the vaccination sheet. The CD is still with me.

I could understand the feeling. I feel like I'm the only Filipin here in Blur Springs, Missouri. And when I do see Filipino s in Chinese restaurants, I don't think they want to talk to me because they keep avoiding eye contact. During the first two months, I cried due to homesickness and me missing the familiarity of the city I grew up in. But she made a choice to be with her soulmate. And she should at least try. What I do is, I have apps on my phone (Viber, WeChat) to keep in touch with the fMily on my phone. I use Skype or Facebook on the laptop I use. Have you tried being interested in our culture or language? I teach my husband and inlaws some easy words and it makes me feel happy to hear those words in the house I'm in. And may be its good to have her attend an English class too. And just always be there for her.

Got my appointment letter, scheduled on November 5.
-
Oh no. What happened? Well, when we were applying for the marriage license I was asked for identification and the visa but, as for the getting the marriage certificate after the wedding, the passport wasn't needed anymore. I don't know if the same applies for the state that you're in or if they have their own ways of doing it. I do know the passport is important for getting the SSN and the getting the AOS done.

Finally got my NOA for the three forms we submitted!
-
Nah. You'll be fine. Just sign up at the USCIS website, add your receipt numbers to your portfolio and enable mobile and email alerts if you want to keep track of your application.
Woot! Thanks Erika and Chris!

Oh. We didn't include the G1145 in our AOS petition. D; Would that cause us any trouble?
-
You should get it just a couple of days after it's been cashed. Just a few more days of waiting.
Yay! Here's hoping!
-
Well, USCIS just got the money from my husband's bank account. Hoping we get the receipts sometime early next week.

Thank you. Fortunately they live withing Metro Manila and it wasn't in the storm's path. They are all safe. They did feel the strong winds though and slight rain. I feel bad for the victims though. I watched the news videos. It was unbearable.
Hope you guys are well. According to the VJ timeline, it's about 30 days or so after the biometrics is done when the EAD is either approved or sent out. Here's hoping we'll get our EADs sooner.
