To apply for an original card, you must provide at least two documents to prove age, identity, and U.S. citizenship or current lawful, work-authorized immigration status. If you are not a U.S. citizen and do not have DHS work authorization, you must prove that you have a valid non-work reason for requesting a card.

Nope. Wait and see what your EAD says. I bet you'll feel a lot more comfortable then. This is only the approval notice, not the document itself required for travel. You will get a similar notice for the EAD and your GC when that is approved. It's just notice of approval.

I agree about the "fairness" argument being not based in realities. If every country had the same history of compliance with US visas, and fraud rates, and noone immigrated illegally, then policy could be applied exactly the same to everyone. Sadly, this is not the case. Situation and history makes everyone's case different and some will have an easier time of it. Someone with a fiancee from Fujian, China will have a MUCH different experience than someone with a fiancee from Toronto, ON. Is this fair? Not in the sense that that both couples may be just as in love, just as well meaning, and just as deserving to be together... but the USCIS is the gatekeeper and they have to act based on the facts and trends. There is no need to blame anyone. It's the world that's unfair, from birth to death.
AOS is not a loophole. You may adjust from ANY visa as a spouse of a US citizen, it's only a question of if you are being honest about why you entered the USA initially. Some aren't. Fine. Catching them is part of the USCIS's job. But because some people commit fraud doesn't mean that process should be thrown out for the ones that ARE honest. THAT is unfair.
People who are saying no one should be able to do it, honestly or not are just taking their frustrations out on those they perceive as more fortunate than themselves. I understand the emotion, but it's kind of ugly.

Ok I'm am doing it via a VWP and I had absolutely no idea it was possible, I was always led to believe you could not change status from a VWP. It was only when we went and consaulted a lawyer she said it was perfectly legal and told me not to go back to England. I was fully prepared to go back to England and apply from there. They're plenty of illegal K1 and other visa's that take place too. You shouldn't judge someone for doing something that is perfectly legal. Me and my wife got married on spur of the moment when we had our babies gender scan and found out we were having a little girl. It just seemed the perfect moment.

NO it's a courtesy to the American Citizen to have their spouse with them, that is why it is an option.

My intent was to marry the women I love at some point like it is for anyone in love. This was just another trip like I done many times before. Also like I said I didn't know that I could AOS from the VWP. The reason we went to the lawyer in the first place was because of our baby because I was scared I'd miss the birth.
