Sorry I just have a question...you said you sent your fiancee everything via USPS? I was told not to send anything via USPS but DHL. I was told if I send stuff through the postal service if most likely will not reach him. Did you experience any problems sending things using USPS?
I used USPS for everything and never once had a problem. They should use DHL coming this way though.
-
I sent my husband a copy of absolutely everything, even though the embassy should already have had everything. Right down to the support paperwork, birth certificates, proof of relationship. I used the "If it fits it ships" postage from the USPS which helps with cost and gets it there in about 5 business days.
Make sure he brings his medical exam, passport photos and passport of course, but also make sure he has a new updated copy of his police record along with the certified translation. He also needs to bring the email/paper that shows the confirmation of his interview appointment.
-
Why not have him arrive the day before and get the postage before the place closes. Then he can settle in and try to get a good nights sleep so he is up bright and early and ready to go?!

Any petioners marrying an algerian? I have a question about the beneficiary passport. When my fiance got his passport in 2009 he didn't have a job and put down UNEMPLOYED (SANS EMPLOI) on his passport and now we are thinking about getting a new one for him in order to make things easier, is getting a new one better or could he just keep that one? what do yall's fiance(s) passport say under OCCUPATION?
The occupation in algerian passport is not important,am algerian woman,am in Administrative Processing for 6 weeks in USA ambassy in algeria,i hv a job ,am working but i didnt want to mention it on my passport, then i hv no occupation on in my passport.and the CO in the ambassy didn't ask me about my job,and did ask about my job letter.I wanna ask u if ur fiance did his interview or not.IF ur VISA is issued.THANK U
I married an Algerian and yes, he received his visa. The occupation was not looked at on his passport, however the CO did ask about it in detail during his interview. They wanted to make sure he had a plan for getting a job once he got here in the US. The Algerian embassy id very big on the financial end.

No. Hard copy proof only.
No videos, DVD/CDs, USB drives, etc. No electronic copy of anything.

I read the instructions and even went on the internet to read about lockboxes lol. I was looking for a short cut by mailing to the local lockbox but it looks like the safest bet will be the Dallas center. There are no short cuts I guess.
Correct!
There is no shortcut in immigration - only careful handling on your part. Be very certain of what you tun in and turn it in as soon as requested and I am sure all will be good. Sounds like you are on the right path!

Is this a ICE case? I have never thought of it before but now reading all the comments and seeing my owns words and realizing how i wish i wrote them out before now so I can see myself as the fool i have been. Is this a case you would report to ICE? would i be the worst person in the world if I finally got mad and finally reacted to it all.
You not be the worst, you would be the SMARTEST!!
Assuming you act rationally and not kill him of course

What he is asking you to do is illegal. He is threatening to go do it to someone else if you don't.
Do you really see one ounce of love here on his part? No.
He said "Maybe I will work on it if you do this for me". Guess what... Maybe means he won't.
You deserve better. As others said - kick him to the curb and learn to love yourself first. Then you will be able to find a man that loves you, respects you and sees you are worth gold.

Well after some delays, I filed the I-130 today. Tic. Tic. Tic. The clock starts clicking soon, I hope.
The only thing I'm worried about is the supplemental info for the bona-fides of the marriage. She owns a house in China and has a job, bank account etc. I own a house in the US. How much co-mingling of finances do they expect while we're living in two separate countries? I sent some copies of the paperwork to add her as spouse/beneficiary for some retirement stuff.
Has anyone had their petition delayed over this issue? How else can I document this if they ask for more info?
I tried to set up a joint checking account, but it has to be notarized by a US notary and it's too much trouble to go to GZ just for a bank account. Thoughts? Advice?
It did not hinder us at all. They do not really expect you to have much of this at this point. It is hard to have co-mingling of financials when you live in two separate countries. This will come into play more during the ROC.
For now just get as much proof of relationship in other ways as you can. Multiple visits - with proof of travel, anything you can combine from this end or add her as beneficiary, communication records, receipts, etc.
Best of luck!!

All K1 petitions go to Texas now, all of them. Other lockboxes are for other immigration issues.
Exactly.
My concern for you is these are the only addresses in the actual I-129F PDF Instructions. I understand you found other addresses online, but did you get a chance to read the full I-129F instructions yet? You will want to make sure you do as this will give you the list of everything required to send. Maybe I am just a bit "detail oriented", but I read my instructions like 10 times to make sure I had everything. If you have, then great! But if not, you might want to before it's too late

am algerian woman,am 28 YEARS OLD,i had my interview in december27th2013,i was interviewed by a woman, she treated me like insect, she asked me questions about my privat life,i answered all her questions,i didnt get angry coz i didnt want to make her to refuse to issue my visa, when i left she kept my passport and gave me a g 221 white paper, she asked for 2012 tax return,i left the ambassy,in January 2nd i gave the ambassy what they request 2012 tax return,2 days later they emailed my fiance that they recieved it,but after one month they emailed my fiance for the second time to tell him that our cas ein under AP,and they will contact me.AM just waitind and waiting...,I dont know why they kept my passport more that 1 month, and they made me in further AP.PLIZ can u tell me why they kept my passport in the ambassy and my case in further AP???pliz answer me and help me pliz pliz
This is standard for this embassy. Most men and some women get put in AP (Administrative Processing) for a security check or to look into and verify something they want to confirm. Keeping your passport is a good thing as it means if all checks out they will issue your visa since they have passport in hand. When I spoke to the same woman you did by phone she told me they try to get AP done as quickly as possible with a goal of 6-8 weeks, however there are no guarantees and it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months... to several months. There is nothing you can do with AP except wait. They will not answer questions or give you estimates. You will just know when it is done.
Best of luck, sounds like you are on the last part of your journey!

OK, one more try and I am off to bed
Per the instructions directly from the USCIS it states:
If you live in the United States or if you are living abroad:
File Form I-129F at the USCIS DALLAS Lockbox facility.
For US Postal Service:
USCIS
PO Box 660151
Dallas, TX. 75266
For Express Mail and commercial courier deliveries:
USCIS
ATTN: I-129F
2501 S State Hwy 121 Business Suite STE 400
Lewisville, TX. 75067
There are no other addresses in the actual instructions themselves. I am not sure what you are looking at but I would take another look. You would hate to send it to the wrong place. Also it would be a good idea to double check you have everything they asked for as well – to help make the process smoother and faster. No RFE means faster finishing!

I live in Phoenix, AZ and I see there is an USPS address for a Phoenix, AZ lockbox. I guess it would be best to send the application there. It looks like you can ask for a email or text message receipt of the petition too. Thanks guys.
I mentioned the address was in the instructions themselves. Did you check out page 4?
It has the address to send by regular mail/USPS and the address to send by courier.
Both are Texas addresses.

I need help friends!
I am a pettioner sponsoring my family on F2A. Since my income is not sufficient, I need a joint sponsor to file I-864 for my family. I asked couple friends, but they refused to do so. Can someone help me to find joint-sponsor or give some advice how to find one? Can an attorney help on this?
I don't see how any attorney can help you with this. You are asking someone to help be financially responsible to the government for your family (should the need arise). No stranger is going to be willing to do that. I would suggest you try close family members. They would be more likely to help then friends...usually anyway. Depends on the family I guess

It would be generally cheaper for you to use this website. If you have a decent working printer at home or with a friend, grab some glossy photo paper and just by following the guides you can print your own. You can print off as many as you want to send off or keep as spares without having to make a trip to the nearest photo booth or drug store and paying their extortionate prices.
True! Good point.
If you don't have a good quality printer and paper and have to pay to have it done, I was able to get ours at WalMart for $7.00.
I was shocked to see it half the price from the major drug store chains, but it is still cheaper then her sending some to you! Either way, hopefully you are good to go now

I live in Phoenix, Arizona. I am going to start a K1 petition for my girlfriend. She lives in the Dominican Republic. Where do I mail this petition off to? The California Service Center?
It is on page 4 of the I-129F Instructions. You should make sure to read them so you do not miss something.
-
If you have a digital copy just use the government website to size it correctly and have it printed here.
I used this for the NVC stage as my husband sent me ones not even in size. Worked great!
-
Yes, it is required.
Just have her mail you one express. It should be recent - it is supposed to be within 30 days of filing.

You can get married in Tunisia quickly and it does not require either one of you to get a visa first.
You just need a few days to get the paperwork in order, we were married within 4 days. There is some time needed afterwards though to get everything recorded properly in all the correct government offices/justice, etc. and to get the certified translations of everything for her to take back with her. We were there for 2 weeks that trip and got everything completed with time to go shopping!
Just make sure wherever you get married you know all the requirements ahead of time.
Best of Luck!

If it were that easy we would all be doing it.
The immigration process is very stressful and can often be very depressing. Add that to the fact of everyday life and I am willing to bet most of us here have felt the same way.
I think you have received some very good advise here. Be careful trying to use anything related to mental health as it may come back to bite you in the long run.
-
sorry, didn't see you had just posted this! not trying to be a copycat, promise!
Ah... but copycat is the best form of flattery, right?

You said:
"we both agreed that we would figure out where we would live after getting married according to what both makes us comfortable and what we find easier"
"I live in the US but I was born in Algeria. It would only make sense to have the wedding in Algeria since since both of our extended families are in Algeria. We would come back to the US after the wedding."
So here you said having the wedding in Algeria, not just a ceremony and your last post says the US. See the confusion for the CO?
Your fiance already told the CO you weren't sure where you were going to live yet. You will not be given a K-1 for him to come marry just to possibly move to Algeria.
-
I live in the US but I was born in Algeria. It would only make sense to have the wedding in Algeria since since both of our extended families are in Algeria. We would come back to the US after the wedding.
Then you need to get married in Algeria, then file the I-130 if you eventually decide to live here. As mimolicious stated, a K-1 visa is for him to come to the US and marry here - period.
-
I actually do. Would that substitute the boarding pass or plane ticket?
Yes, the stamps are proof of travel, dated in and out - so that should be good to use.

It is a courier service, just like UPS or Fed Ex.
