I am uscis free for 21 months- gc in hand!
-
I'd do that. The website is still showing 3 months although it has not been updated since dec 31st. I think you'll get it soon though, it just see, long but there was the christmas break and couple of other national holidays in a way.
You don't need a lawyer to do that though. Just make an infopass appointment and go there with all the receipts etc.

You definitely need to contact the embassy asap to let them know that happened if you haven't already done so. They will advise you of replacement process and potential cost.
Im pretty sure you will not have to go through the entire process although I must say it's a pretty bad luck to lose both passport and the envelop.

You do not need a job offer to apply for work authorisation. You just send i-765 together with your aos paperwork and wait 2-3 months for the card. Meanwhile you are free to look and apply for the jobs, even go to interviews and if you get a job offer and it's before you got EAD you can try and expedite your request based on that job offer.

Maybe these will shed some light on your caseHaha, well one way or another I'll know the answer by this time Wednesday.
And if you do search on it you'll find many more threads.
Good luck!

Hello All,
Completing the AOS packet and have a few very quick clarifying questions I hope someone can answer.
1-485 Form:
- What is the non-immigration visa number? Is this the number in red on the right hand side of the K1 visa or the A number?
- What is the correct expiration date? Is this the date at the top right hand side of the 1-94 that says expiration or the admit until date?
- Does the USC (female) use new married name or previous name prior to marriage listed on all immigration and required documentation such as employment letter and tax transcripts?
1-131
- For the separate sheet required to explain how he qualifies for advanced parole, do we say K1 visa? Is that enough or do we need more?
Thank you very much!
I-485
Red number on the visa is the visa number.
Expiration date is in regards to i-94
I-864
Not sure for usc female but i dont think it matter. Marriage certificate is a proof of her name change or if she doesnt change her name its fine too.
I-131
You do not need to provide separate sheet to explain how you qualify because you're adjusting from k1.

Yep that's one of the ways to do it. You can also search for images on google for "certified translations" I'm sure it will give you an idea on how it looks like.
-
Yep, you can do it yourself as per many posts here and http://www.uscis.gov/forms/forms-and-fees/general-tips-assembling-applications-mailing .

Got good news by email today: Card in production :-)

I understand that my wife should use her married name in the i-485. My concern is that a number of the documents, specifically her passport and our proof of joint residence, still have her madden name. Will this be a problem?
Thank you!
No, this is normal, we all have to start somewhere. File for AOS in her married name and change other documents at your convenience.
-
Sorry to hear that, hope your card will be found!

Haven't tried it but there you go:

It has to take place in a home country and be done by a designated panel physicist.

i am waiting, got my letter in December (noa1 10 sept). Its kind of annoying that some who recevied waiver letter much later already got their cards. They received my application september 27, 2013 and got my potential interview waiver last jan 21, 2014. Is there anyone here who got a letter too and still waiting? Im so tired of waiting
Just noticed you're also from Orlando!
-
Or check with your county clerk of court to see if you can get a copy in person. Usually it is possible to get to the office, pay like $5 and get a certified copy right away.
-
Just fill out part 1 on page 1. And put your name, alien number on top of both pages. The rest is to be filled by cs.
-
Weirdest thing...we no sooner put the envelope down, and I get a text. Document/Card production!! She'll have it in 30 days or less. USCIS free for 21 months!!!!
Thats awesome! Im still waiting since i got my letter at the end of December :-/

I went through Atlanta, with ma US fiance. We went through citizen line (long line but not as long as tourist) but after checking my husband and taking my biometrics we were sent over to the "Tripod" area. The paperwork was handed to the officer and we were waiting for about 20 min before being seen. I was them told we have 90 days to get married and that was it.

Thank-you Agnes. I realize my post sounded whiny (wanting to pack it all in)- I didn't mean that truly. I'm just having a low day.
Do you think I can drive on my U.K license for now?
It didn't sound like that at all. Sorry you have a low day! Not sure about if you can or cannot drive, i didn't have dl before and only got learners permit after getting ead and changing my name on ssn :-)
