  1. Not sure if it matters but I added my case number to my account that I've created on Uscis website back when started our journey and there's an option to have email/text send with updates.

Wasnt aware that they send you email that your card is in production. Thought you will get to know of your approval only from the online case status and the approval letter from them.Anyway, congrats.

  2. The problem with getting SSN in married name is that it doesn't match I-94's name. Although there's no need for "legal name change" as marriage certificate is the only document required to prove that you changed your name to get Ssn you normally need a document in your married name like GC or EAD that proves you jave right to receive SSN.

  3. my wife has just come home and read the letter and her understanding is that the USCIS was correct, I needed an updated medical for the vaccines only not an actual medical, so it looks my reason for denial was the fact the the civil surgeon filled out the forms incorrectly ......speaking with a lawyer tomorrow

So i thought. Well.. before the paperwork is sealed you see what they're doing and you're also supposed to get a copy of that medical for your record. Anyhow I don't think you have a case with USCIS but I would definitely look into getting civil surgeon to answer for their incompetence.

  4. My partner looked at the copy of the medical form which I was given by the civil surgeon and she had just put lines through the medical section and through the section where she should have put her name and address, she had signed the form and so had I.

So basicly nowhere on the form it says who was the civil surgeon filling the form? Did they stamp it with all the doctors info? If not that could easily be reason for denial imo.

  5. Take your EAD, SSN card and 2 proofs of address and a proof of completion of DATA course http://www.highschooldriver.com/data-courseto a DMV office. I think the permit is around 40$ plus DATa course fee. They'll check your eye sight and if able to verify your status you should get the permit right away.

Exam is pretty easy - first you'll do road rules and signs 20 q's and then another 20 q's on traffic, insurance etc. You can find free practice tests online and read the FL drivers manual to learn.

Driving part is super easy. I was asked to start your car, use indicator and break to test. Then was asked 1 or 2 q's (how to safely park uphill) and then taken for about 10 min "ride" where I had to stop on a stop sign, accelerate to 30mps and safely stop, drive on reverse (make sure you look over your shoulder), do a 3 way turn (don't forget indicators) and do 90 degree front parking.

  6. I know some people on here have problems being verified in SAVE database. I had no problems getting my learner droving licence with ssn and ead in my married name. My i-94 was long expired and in my maiden name too.

If you believe it can be save database issue you can try to contact them on

  7. Sadly (as we love Philly), we are at a point where we may have to consider moving to another state , somewhere cheaper while we can. Has anyone got any suggestions of states with lots job opportunities for manufacturing and marketing professionals?

Florida is more multicultural so I believe it's easier to find a job for a foreigner.
