ive been trying not to check every hour, but i just did (for the first time today -- thanks grey's anatomy for the distraction
)

but thanks Kweli and the rest of the gang for the support...congrats to all who got approved and for the rest of us still waiting, let's hang in there some more!
Hello guysThis is a new week starting. I hope there's gonna be a lot of positive news. I hope we'll be touched or better yet approved. My case hasn't been touched since Sept 7. Just like Stina, I'm starting to feel left out
. Even though I'm glad that I've been transferd to CSC. It's better than nothing at all.
It's cool that some of us got approved. You know what? When I check my status online and I see no change, I feel like going down to CSC and yell " What the hell you're waiting for?"
Then I think of grabbing my caseworker and
However I know that waiting is part of the game....
Peter you got touched on Sunday? I didn't know that USCIS could work on Sunday. You must have a very good lucky star
Jeeleebee, Naya, Stina and all the rest of transferees, I keeping my fingers crossed that this week will bring some action....

Happy anniversary to us!
Can we have another round of champagne PW?
Just got back from a week of goofing off in Mindoro... i can't believe the number of pages that has been added in this forum and how that list have grown. Wow!
Mychelle, congrats on your approval!

ok, first off, social security number and card technically refer to the same thing...when your application is processed you get a card with your number on it (in the mail)
as you can see from my timeline, i applied for my social security number after marriage and got it (but it wasnt easy)...i was refused at first because i was applying under my married name, which obviously does not match the name on my visa/passport (K-1)...there are several posts here on SSA procedures which i had to print out and bring with me on the second attempt, and after consulting with a supervisor, my application was accepted
i think the easier way is to apply before marriage under your maiden name, then do a name change after marriage...and this is where the EAD comes in...you need to bring it with you and a certified marriage certificate in order to change your name and get a new card
anyhow, that's what i know. you might want to go to the nearest SSA office and inquire.
Hope this helps!
I've been seeing alot of confused posts lately where people have been saying you need EAD authorization BEFORE you can attempt to apply for a SSN.I was under the impression (going by a k-1) you go...get married, apply for SSN, recieve, apply for AOS + EAD/+ AP too.
Or am I getting confused with a social security card and a social security number? Can somebody explain to me please?

then me, right?
gosh im beginning to hate weekends
Don't be, looking at the pattern, you should be up next -
ah... i guess it's different for every state
anyhow, thanks for the reply gsmaclean...hope we get approved soon!
I was told the same thing at the BMV (also in OH).Hm, looking at yours and my timelines, it looks like we are almost exactly the same - you filed the day after we did, we had biometrics on the same day, and we've both been transferred to CSC.
-
Grats to all who have been approved so far
Nothing new for me...cmon CSC!
-
heya
i was worried too when people started talking about getting email confirmation that CSC received their case and i hadnt, but i was advised to wait a week to 2 before making phonecalls (you should see the posts a few pages back on this thread)
anyhow, i eventually did get that email as you can see on my timeline
now i hope all our cases get touched today to make us all feel better
Hmmm getting a little concerned now after having a look at everyone's timelines (I am such a nosey parker). Anyways my case, not my daughters (which is a whole other story) was transferred to the CSC on the 6th September. But I just realised that even though I received an email and snail mail telling me this was happening, I have received no confirmation from CSC that they have got the case as yet. Should I contact them about this or just take the wait and see for a bit line?
I am worried that the same person who is supposed to send my file over to the CSC is the same one that is working, barely, on my daughter's case and messing up big time.
-
congrats!!!
looking at your timeline, i saw you didnt need your ead to get your driver's license...what docs did you submit? i was told i needed an ead or greencard when i inquired at the BMV...
oh and no touch for me today...
whew, im on an emotional rollercoaster!
I got my GREEN CARD today!Exactly 1 year to the day from our filing for my K1, and 218 days since filing for AOS....

)
I was "Touched" today again.
This is the sixth touches in ten working days. Has anyone else been touched today?
Regards,
Peter Miami
I'm jealous

Who ever was touching our cases either stopped working or went on vacation.
Jeeleebee, Diana, Kweli, and CJ&Jum what is going on with your status?
Thanks,
Peter Miami
no touches since the last one...go go approval!
-
wow you must have been the only one... guess your caseworker was busy working while ours were playing freecell.
i'm sure there will be some movement on everyone's part next week... CSC seems to be touching really rapidly... i guess with all the backlog and imbra nonsense, they need to get us AOS'ers out of the way fast!
(edited for spelling
)
i guess my caseworker is just trying to even out the # of touches...ive only been touched a couple times since CSC received my case on 09/05...gotta catch up
-
uhhh i just checked and whoa, touched???
i just hope it's not an RFE
well im glad we have this mini forum going, i feel like i have a support group
goodluck everyone, we are all in this together!!!
No touches for me today
....well so far anyway.
No touches for me today
....well so far anyway.

hi Peter Miami and nayalamb,
thanks for the replies...i'll give it a week or 2 then...thanks again
-
i havent gotten an email saying CSC has received my case...when should i start worrying?
Hi Naya,That ones from CRIS say that our AOS was transfer to CSC. The ones from USCIS-CSSO said that CSC received it. And yes most e-mails are duplicated. We are also getting extra e-mails because I fill-out an I-865 when I sent the AOS package and the e-mails are pertaining to that. We got a Receipt Number (MSC**********) for the I-865.
We also fill out an AR-11 but they never send any paperwork regarding it nor did I get a Receipt Number.
Regards,
Peter Miami

hi PW, im doin fine, takin things slow while waiting for my work permit...i've kept up with your case by lurking around here from time to time so i just wanna say hang in there and goodluck!
lotsa luck to everyone else too!

thanks for the reply kezzie
regarding the issue about getting a joint account, i was told that it's because they are a credit union that's why they cannot add me, that it will be a compliance issue, their rules do not allow someone with that kind of SS card to be added to an existing account or open a new account with them
i really dont think they know what they are talking about but then again i cant make them add me (i already tried twice)
also i went to the SSA office today and i was told that the only time i can have that notation removed is when i bring in my certificate of naturalization (of course i questioned that and said i should only need a greencard to have a regular SS card but the lady at the window was quite firm that i need to be a citizen)
i have learned to be skeptical at what government employees tell me so i checked the SSA website and found this link:
http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/cards.htm
This link states the following:
We issue three types of Social Security cards:
1. The card most people have shows your name and Social Security number and lets you work without restriction. We issue this card to:
U.S. citizens, or people who are lawfully admitted to the U.S. for permanent residence or who have permission from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to work permanently in the U.S.
2. The second type of card bears the legend, "NOT VALID FOR EMPLOYMENT." We issue this card to people who:
are lawfully admitted to the U.S. but don't have DHS permission to work. You need this card if a federal or state law requires you to have a Social Security number to get a benefit or service; or are living in the U.S. and don't have DHS permission to work but, because they're entitled to a federally funded benefit, are required by federal law to have a Social Security number to receive the benefit.
3. The third type of card bears the legend, "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION." We issue this card to people who have DHS permission to work temporarily in the U.S. Cards issued prior to April 2004 bear the legend, "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH INS AUTHORIZATION."
hope this helps someone out in the future...
thanks also for the new info meauxna and mdyoung
when i was posting my reply i hadnt seen your posts yet, only kezzie's
thanks again!

I would really like to hear from anyone who opted to pick it up at the embassy personally. It's either that or I will have it delivered to my cousin in Manila or have him go down to Delbros and get it. We are tenatively planning on going to Cebu then Ozamiz after the interview to say our goodbyes, then back to Manila to hopefully get the visa handed to us
Yeah, it would be nice... My fiance was thinking of the same thing. Picking up the visa before he goes back to US (that is if we get approved).
I read on one of the posts here that you can actually pick it up the following day... i just can't find that post.
when i applied for a B1 visa in 2003, i was able to personally pick up my visa from Delbros..since this was a few years ago they may have changed the rules (they delivered my K1 visa to my apartment and my landlady signed for it -- the Delbros receipt you get after paying the courier fee after the interview has a section in the back of it where you can name a person as an authorized receiver in your stead in case you arent home when they deliver your docs)
anyhow, i dont think it would be a bad idea to call delbros and ask what their current procedures are...im pretty sure they have a website where you can find contact info
just a suggestion

Hi all,
Can i get a new SS card without the notation "valid for work only with DHS authorization" when i get my green card (even if it's just the 2-year conditional green card?)
See my husband's credit union would not add me to his accounts since my SS card has this notation (they asked for a document showing my social security # as a requirement for adding me as a joint account holder and my actual card is the only document i have right now that has it (i dont have a driver's license and the SS # is not on my marriage certificate either since i applied for it after the wedding) so once they saw that notation I was told i cant be added
It's really annoying because i know for a fact other people were able create joint accounts without additional proof
Anyhow, I was just wondering when that notation can be removed from my SS card.
Thanks so much as always!
