    Hello fellow Chicago filers

Are we maintaining any timeline for the Chicago filers? Any google doc or anything?

It will be really useful to see and assess whats going on with Chicago office. Let me know if you guys think along the same lines.

    Thanks

I waited 11 months for my interview. filed June 2017 and had my interview May 2018. my oath was exactly 2 weeks later. seems like most paper filers wait about that long for their interview. For online filers the wait time is much shorter.
I don't think we have a google doc of that but i could be wrong.

There’s nothing to be scared of actually, my wife is alots older than me, our marriage was genuine and we’ve been married since 2011 and we are still going. I got my visa in Lagos too, everybody’s case is not always the same. The CO can tell if your lying by looking straight into
your eyes, he should be fine as long as he knows everything about you and the relationship is for real as you claimed.

July 31st? getting closer  make sure you study your questions, bring your tax returns and most importantly try to relax. as long as you don't have a criminal record and you paid your taxes and all you have absolutely nothing to worry about! its important to remember that the interviewing officers are people too and they know that this is stressful for us even if it's not for them.

for me it was very crowded it was kind of hard for me and my wife to get seats next to each other but I'm sure it depends on the day. Just so you know there are 3 sections. Left, Middle, Right. Middle section is reserved for Oath ceremonies only. if you sit in the oath section they will ask you to move once oath people start coming in. After you check in they will tell you what door number they will call you from and depending on that you sit either on left or right side it sounds confusing I know but it's actually very easy once you get there.

no sorry, when you get into the building you have to first go through security as in metal detectors, put your cell phone, shoes, belt, purse etc inside a bin and walk through. they will ask you what brings you in and you just say that you are there for your naturalization interview. they will instruct you to go to the third floor.

Once you get to the third floor on the escalator you will right away see a sign "check in" with an arrow pointing to it. that's the line you want to get into. once you are checked in (you will need to give your N400 interview notice and i believe they take another fingerprint if I"m not mistaken maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong) after you are checked in they will give you a piece of paper with a number. mine was J34. on that piece of paper they will write what door you will be called into so just watch for your door and sit by it

like I said the check in line was very long but it moved fast.

just so you know third floor is also where you will go for your oath! for you interview you go right after you get off the escalator and once you are there for your oath - the ceremony is to the left.

I would get there 45 min early not more I'm not sure if they will let you check in

let me know if you have any more questions! I love answering these

(Edit - sorry i know this is long but I'm trying to provide as many details as i can remember)

I live in northern Illinois (about 20 miles from the Wisconsin border) I had my interview on May 9th, 2018 and my oath was may 23rd, it's strange that central IL residents have to wait that long. I wonder why that is

Great News - congratulations!!  I will be in Chicago on Tuesday.... so do they tell you to wait around for your 'result'?    It will be great to hear when you get your oath ceremony date, I am hoping that Chicago is quick!!

    Guys!

I just had my interview. It went really well, and I got the result (the notice for oath ceremony) right away!
I submitted my application on Aug 6, 2017. Got in line for interview May 12, 2018, interview date, June 14, 2018.

I was married to a U.S citizen for 4 years, but was divorced, so I submitted my N-400 based on the 5 years rule (instead of 3 year)

I was really nervous at first, but the officer was very nice, and made me feel so much better and calm.
He first asked me the civil questions. I studied very hard so i got all of them right, then he had me speak and write an easy sentence.
After that, he went thru all the questions on the application with me. and I memorized all my addresses (for the past 5 years) with move-in, move-out dates, and all my travel dates, so the process is quick.

About 35 mins, the process is finished, and I waited outside for the final decision. After about an hour wait, my name was called, and I got the notice for the Oath Ceremony!

I am finally relived!  I am so happy. The process was a lot easier then I thought (regarding my marriage status)I brought a TON of documents but the officer didn't ask for any!
Just my green card, passports, and the interview notice.

Hope you guys get your interview in line soon and good luck!!!

Why don't you start worrying about this about a year and a half from now?  A lot can change.  And yes, you will have to be patient no matter what.  In the meantime, enjoy life, find a hobby (other than checking processing "timings"), etc.  Good luck.

The whole process is a painful waiting game, if it helps any, I waited 9 months to get an interview letter. Whereas others who filed after me in same local field office were all done by the end of summer. Every case is different, I know all too well how much it sucks to be left in the dark, waiting without any updates, but I am sure you will hear something soon. The excitement will hit you and then the stress of the interview will creep up on you shortly before the date and then you will be buying hair dye to cover up all the grey hair this process has caused you. Then one day it will all be over and you will never have to worry about dealing with immigration again

We mailed our application, biggest reason being is my scanner is a pain in the a-- to operate.

The application was scanned by USCIS.  Not sure if they do this for all applications now or not, but I think everyone's in the same boat now regardless of how you file.  Filing by mail may have set us back a couple days.

For those that have applied under the 3 year marriage rule, what supporting documents did you submit? I am debating whether I should include all bank statements and utility bills for all months in the past 3 years or just one per quarter.
