Molly, I am retired from the Military and the Federal Government (Homeland Security) and I am ashamed of the way you are being treated as well as others. There has to be a fail safe mode somewhere?? I would be calling and writing the congressman who got you the expedite and let him know just how much pull he (doesn't)really have. This will shake a congressman up, and just maybe he will bring thunder down on them this time. I wish you good luck and a speedy approval. Ron

And the suggestion about CSC and VSC sharing their task is just more realistic than adding (so maybe hiring) more workers for all filers. At least it would be more fair and equal. Sory but I think it needs to. Id understand if we would have said " We want VSC faster than CSC" but we don't that, we want equality, there is nothing bad in that. It's frustrating and we can't help to feel that way.

The petitions need to be SHARED between both service centers so that NO-ONE is processed before their due time. There is no reason why JUNE CSC petitions should be processed before FEBRUARY, MARCH, APRIL or MAY VSC petitions for the same benefit (K1, I-130). IT's NOT FAIR. PERIOD. I agree with the OP for writing the president or Janet Napolitano or whomever. The system is broken and needs to be fixed.

Personally I don't care how it's done, but it needs to be done. The other point is that they both work for the same people (the government) and obviously senior management isn't looking at their numbers (for both) and taking the required steps necessary to improve things. Plain sad. So if it takes a bunch of letters, emails, texts, FB posts, whatever to bring it to their attention, so be it.

We got 95 signatures we need 100! (But do you think 100 is enough to be heard ? I was wondering)
PS: I didnt create that petition, just want people to sign it

Why would we include the CSC if they are approved so far ahead of their 5 month average processing time?
The petition is for people in primarily Feb, March, and April who's petitions won't get reached for another 2-3 months (more like 3-4 if things keep going how they are), and all the others who will be waiting an extra 2-4 months because they've been so backlogged from Feb - April.
I understand that people at CSC want their petitions approved really fast (and I mean, who doesn't?), but people at VSC signed up for 5 months tops and now are waiting 7 or 8 just for an RFE.
There is no issue with the CSC processing times at the moment. If they were to suddenly drop five to eight months behind, I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem including them in the petition.

The system is stupid and needs changing.
However given that it is the way it is, personally I could only ever do it the "proper" way.
However I don't want to scare people away with biased advice, so I try to balance my comments by telling people what they can do. And I honestly do want the best for everyone so I'm more than happy for someone who happens to be in the US with no knowledge of the process and then adjusts status. In your friend's (acquaintance?) case, her husband has already uprooted himself from Mexico and is currently in the US. He may as well adjust status. There really isn't a risk of being denied, not really. The only person I'm actually a little annoyed at is someone vaguely related to me who bugged me for immigration advice and then did the VWP/AOS thing despite having plenty of time to have done it correctly...
A little while ago there was a potential problem with adjusting status from VWP. Or maybe it was just VWP with overstay. I can't remember. But there were delays and maybe even denials, can't remember. But that has since been resolved so there is no longer that concern.

OK, if you are married to a US citizen and come to "visit" your spouse, then decide to adjust status??????
Seriously, this is a joke. Even more of a joke that USCIS told NatalieBlake that even though CBP warned her husband that he better leave after 90 days, that "It was OK and People do it all the time".
These people will have their green cards before people who have filed for K1/CR1......

How is lawyer going to help?
She has been living illegally and that is the truth….next time when ppl wonder why they are given hard time at POE even when they are genuine… here is the reason.
I am not sure why she cannot return back to her home country where her family and friends are, she does not have to leave the kid in the foster care as suggested by the OP.
Kid can be taken to Italy and can grow up there with mother and atleast rest of her family.
I never understand why ppl think its rude when they ask ppl who entered the country illegally to return back to their country?

I agree with this. I am sorry. I really think the best thing is to return to Italy where the child will have citizenship and the mother can work.
I do not know of any path to citizenship or permanent residency that are available to your friend.

    Hi
First of all, can I just start by saying that you have hundreds, if not thousands of people on here sharing your pain right now. This whole process is torture and something needs to be done to at least sort out the way cases are handled, and the way applicants are communicated to.
I really do not want to be the bearer of bad news because this process is bad enough but I feel I have to let you know what may be in store for you.
We applied through the Vermont Service Centre last October, with an expected timeframe of 5 months. I had planned on it taking the full 5 months, as frustrating as it was to accept that. Fortunately, we provided more evidence than was necessary, just so that there wasn't a reason to get an RFE. This seemed to have worked and our case was processed in 3.5 months. I was pleasantly surprised by this. I had estimated the whole thing, from filling to receiving the visa to take approximately 8 months, which in normal cases is a fair estimate (3 months for the embassy/interview things to take place).
Once the embassy receives the application from Vermont, they tend to be fairly responsive in terms of processing and setting dates. Something you may experience, which will make your wait now seem like a walk in the park is the dreaded additional processing. Yes, if your fiancé has already had a problem entering the country, the chances are that they'll have to do additional security checks etc. I was put in to this and I have written a post on here to try and prepare people for it. You can find it at the link below.

    Core Values
    Integrity
We shall always strive for the highest level of Integrity in our dealings
with our customers, our fellow employees, and the citizens of the United
States of America. We shall be ever mindful of the importance of the
trust the American people have placed in us to administer the nation’s
immigration system fairly, honestly, and correctly.
    Respect
We will demonstrate Respect in all of our actions. We will ensure that
everyone we affect will be treated with dignity and courtesy regardless of
the outcome of the decision. We will model this principle in all of our
activities, with each other, our customers, and the public. Through our
actions, USCIS will become known as an example of respect, dignity,
    and courtesy.
    Ingenuity
As we meet the challenges to come, we will strive to find the most
effective means to accomplish our goals. We will use Ingenuity,
resourcefulness, creativity, and sound management principles to strive for
world-class results. We will approach every challenge with a balance of
enthusiasm and wisdom in our effort to fulfill our vision.
    Vigilance
In this era of increased global threats and national security challenges,
we will remain mindful of our obligation to provide immigration service
in a manner that strengthens and fortifies the nation. We will exercise
a holistic approach to Vigilance as we perform our mission. We will
carefully administer every aspect of our immigration mission so that
new immigrants and citizens can hold in high regard the privileges and
advantages of lawful presence in the United States.
Objective 2.1: Improve timely processing of
    immigration benefits
USCIS is fundamentally transforming the delivery of
immigration services while continuing to adjudicate
millions of applications and petitions each year. We strive
continuously for efficient and high quality service delivery
within an environment of unpredictable demand for USCIS
services. Increases in workload necessitate sound business
processes along with a workforce and organizational
structure that can quickly react to prevent processing delays.
Objective 2.3: Foster a customer-centered, scalable approach to service delivery
USCIS will adopt a customer-centered approach to service delivery, which will provide a clear,
consistent, and universal picture of each customer in order to guide risk assessment, adjudication
of benefits, as well as providing the basis for a more rigorous analysis of business operations. Our
customers will benefit from the government’s common understanding of his or her needs and
eligibility. USCIS will achieve this with new resources generated through the recently implemented
fee schedule, which will provide appropriate funding to address national security requirements and
customer service needs. The new fee structure will facilitate the ongoing modernization of our business
infrastructure to be more customer-centric, flexible and scalable. Under our Transformation Program,
we will convert paper-based processes to electronic-based business processes.
Both USCIS and our stakeholders will benefit as we change business processes and develop integrated
technology services that will enable us to create a holistic view of each customer, their current
application and history through a single interface. Initial steps in achieving our vision of the
future have been taken through a proof of concept based on the Inter-country adoptions process.
Furthermore, USCIS is piloting the digitization of records related to benefit applications to modernize
the way we access historically paper documents and share those same documents with our partner
agencies. As the Transformation Program progresses, we will deploy capabilities that will enable our
customers to use a common, consistent, and familiar interface to file an application, submit supporting
documents, make appointments for interviews or biometrics, track the progress of their case, and get
consistent information regardless of where they live, what they file, and which office actually processes
    their case.
    28
    2008-2012
    Securing America’s Promise 29
To become a model of customer-centered service that is more easily able to deal with the ebb and flow
    of applications, we will:
◦◦ Continue to engage customers and stakeholders in developing strategies for improved
    service delivery.
◦◦ Expand assessments of customer satisfaction with USCIS, our products and services.
◦◦ Promote, facilitate and expand the electronic filing of applications, scheduling of appointments,
    and submitting changes of address.
◦◦ Simplify the submission of applications by customers regardless of form type and jurisdiction.
◦◦ Create paperless adjudications and leverage electronic data exchange to reduce the physical
transfer of paper files and evidence.
◦◦ Acquire the services of a systems architect to support the creation and implementation of an
integrated operating environment that will enable transformed business processes and technology
services to agilely and securely support the adjudication of immigration and citizenship benefits.
◦◦ Incrementally implement the transformed business and technology services, beginning with
capabilities supporting the adjudication of citizenship-related benefits.

Awwwww, you so need a hug off your fiance,
This entire process is messed up and downright cruel. We rightly choose the legal route yet still get made to feel like criminals every step of the way, proving we're genuine having POE officers talk to us like #######(Ive been in tears many a time)and be picked to pieces emotionally and financially.
Problem is there doesn't seem a damn thing we can do about it but take it on the chin.I admire your letter to the president but sadly doubt he'll care one bit. Didn't he forgive many illegals recently(The Dream Act?) so now the service centres have those applicants to deal with before us legal folk?
You will get to look back one day and all this will just be a bad memory, but you'll at least be back with your loved one.
Maybe if the White House gets inundated with EVERYONE off visajourney sending an email they might take note?

To be kept apart from a loved one for up to a year is just cruel.......yeah,yeah I understand why......doesn't make it any easier on the old heart does it.
