  1. Yes, because your medical, I presume was one year ago, and has expired. The TB expires in 6 months, but if the beneficiary will not be making it into the US before the 1 year mark then the entire medial process needs to be renewed. I know this because we were just approved for our visa and only given 2 months to get into the US before our visa expired. Our visa expires on the one year mark of his full medical even though we renewed the TB in December.

  2. They never questioned us or made mention of our religion in our interview (granted this was Egypt) It was obvious from our pictures that we were both Muslim, having pictures from the Nikah and all. I am a little surprised it didn't come up that we married the day after we met in real life. I guess we had so much supporting evidence since that day, that it more or less told our story. My husband was encouraged more towards the narrative style interview where he told our life story rather than being grilled with a thousand questions.

  3. Just in case anyone wants to know for future reference-- 230$ Visa fee, redo whole medical, and relinquish that precious passport and visa back to the darned embassy.... NO WAI No how. We'd probably get a second AP.

And I'll be darned if they didn't call us 3 times on the phone today. First time ever to get a phone call... And they emailed him after the first 2 calls weren't answered, and called directly after he emailed them back. o.O

    Pigs fly?

  4. Its hard to guess I think. If all they do AP for is this so called "name check" then that is BS. My husband has had visa's to the US on several occasions approved for as long as 5 years... If they suddenly thought he was going to a terrorist 1 year after they approved a 5 year visitor visa in which he can stay in the US for 6 months at a time... why did they approve that with no AP and in a matter of days?

I wish you all the best, but be prepared for AP. I was so sure we'd escape it with my husbands long history of traveling and living in the US as a student and tourist. AP is by far the hardest part of the journey so making a game plan for extended AP now will help mentally prepare you a bit just in case.

@ "the dude" I think its great that your wife's family is so accepting. I have several Indian/American friends who have faced much backlash from families in marrying Anglo-Americans.

  5. He can redo the medical and have the validility extended.

Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a round trip ticekt and just let the return journey expire wink.png

Redoing anything in Egypt and dealing with Egyptian consulate is a big hassle... I'm hoping dearly that DH will just let this obligation slide although it means alot to him.

I wish I could explain the stupidity of trying to get the Xray alone redone. You can only get the Xray done at these times. The DR only reads the xrays on these two days and may not get to all of them in a day. You can only pick up Xrays between this and this time when such and such is available. We can leave them at the desk for you to pick up but if you want someone to pick them up for you it has to be during this and that time when this and that and she is available...

    Unreal I tell ya.

  6. He could show up on your wedding anniversary date and get the IR1. Just have a copy of the marriage certificate to show the CBP to make sure they stamp the passport correctly.

I'll be brutally honest here. He waited 10 months in AP. Does this last obligation REALLY matter that much? He's leaving the country.... Better to be in the USA before that visa expires!

LOL... Honestly at this point waiting for the IR1 barely seems to matter... like I just want him here now! But I have a bit more sense than that and he better too lol or I married the wrong man. >.<

  7. Yep,he will have to let this thing go as disappointing as it is. We just can't risk it. However, he won't buy the plane ticket out until the embassy tells him without a doubt there is absolutely no way around this March 17 deadline [without a big hassle].

Its really unreal at this point... like damn. I mean.... I don't think I'll believe it until he's here. Every time I say "One way ticket to the US" I get the biggest grin ever though!!! Its like a thrill ride-- so exciting and so terrifying, but I am beyond ready for this ride to start.

Thanks again to everyone that kept me informed, entertained, and sane through the process.

  8. In this case he better travel no later than the 3/16 to the US wink.png

(He has to enter no later than ON 3/17 -> last day of the visa validility, but I wouldn't cut it that close.)

yeah we could get him here by the 16th though I'm hoping for someway to bypass the obligation. But I wanted at least that one day cushion if his flight got delayed or canceled-- that he would have the 17th as a back up.

hopefully he comes sooner after 3/10 (our 2 yr) and before 3/17.... small window

  9. My husband is here in the states ....we are very happyheart.gif !! It was worth all the wait. finally it's over until becoming a USC <3

    Congrats again!!

My husband has until March 17 to be here sad.png before his visa expires. They didn't give us much warning after waiting indefinitely for nearly a year. He has an obligation on March 15 we are trying to figure out how to work around.

Never the less AP IS OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Visa in hand!!!!!!

  10. You're time line says "3/17/2013 Medical". This coincides with the expiration date of your husbands visa. If he only redid parts of the medical, the original medical date from March 2013 still counts. If this should be the case, he has until 3/17 to enter the US or will have to redo the medical or the whole process. Call the embassy if unsure.

LOL!! Good eyes. It does indeed. I thought it was much later but dammit if I didn't check my own timeline. I'll blame it on Brain Fog from Visa Approval-itis.

Thanks for straightening me out :P So ready to be done with this tedious and annoying process...

Okay so--- March 17, does he have to enter ON or Before that date?

  11. Why would they issue my DH visa for only 2 months. We had 10months of AP. We renewed documents in mid December. The visa was issued Jan 15. It expires March 17. He has an obligation on March 15 and can leave no earlier than March 16. That is cutting it too close for comfort.

Can he enter the US on March 17? Or much he enter at the latest on March 16?

I thought we had a 6 month window?

    Help please

  12. Oh Emm Gee --- status change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Panic... Don't get too excited...but I'm near to hysterics!!! Too late. But we don't have it yet so ....I should calm down. Trying really trying....

Immigrant Visa Case Number: CRO2012xxxxxx 01 CRO Case Creation Date: 21-Aug-2012 Status Updated Date: 15-Jan-2014

Your visa has been printed. Depending on local procedures at the location where you were interviewed, your visa will be mailed or available for pickup soon. If there are further questions, or if we need updated contact information, you will be contacted.
  13. This was my instructions-- I called the Mufti of the largest Islamic center in our area. He said he needs an official license before he marries us, He said just give him a call and we can set a time to do the nikah. We had to appear together to get our license, which we did the day before we got married. We set up the day for the nikah with the imam about a week before. It took all of 15 minutes to do the nikah and have the imam sign the legal documents and the Islamic legal document. There were no blood tests required or any other medical requirements.

As Sandi said, not all imams can do perform legal US marriages. our marriage certificate from the US was satisfactory to personnel in Egypt to verify we are married-- actually think we used the Nikah certificate when we registered at the hotel in Egypt.
