  1. I'm applying my citizenship based on the 4yr 1 day rule, I included my parents' tax return only for the year that I was in school outside US as evidence that I kept my ties to the US. Is that enough or do I need to have a copy of my tax returns for the last 4yrs that I worked here after I came back? Thanks for your help!

  2. good.

In that case, yes parents tax returns showing you as a dependent for that period but that should be at the interview.

From the little looking I have done, Make sure you apply AFTER 4 years and a day. 1 day early would cause denial. you might include a copy of the reentry permit with the application and a cover letter explaining your application under the 4yr,1 day rule with travel dates.

Thanks! I came back on april 27,2009 and I am planning to send my application on april 29. So I don't need to send them a copy of my mom's taxes because it's asking me for evidence? Is sending a copy of my reentry enough you think? I don't want to screw this up because I am on the process of petitioning my husband too. :)

  3. I am afraid you have abandoned your LPR if you did not get a reentry permit.

If you did not, There is a process with forms and interview. Checkout the following link.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I got a reentry permit and I am applying for the 4yrs 1day rule. I just want to know the evidence that I need to submit that I kept my ties to the US when I stayed for over a year outside US.

  4. I left US 10days before my anniversary. So you think that I have to wait for 5yrs before I can apply? I am even thinking about sending my application next month but I still had doubts because once I sent that $680, I will never get it back if I will be denied. Lol. Thank you all for your inputs.

  5. I'm an LPR who wants to apply for citizenship. As the title of this topic states that I applied for reentry permit so I can stay for a year and 6mons in my home country. I came back to US on april 27,2009. I know that I will be eligible to apply on april 28,2013 but I still have doubts. Has anybody experienced this situation before and did not have any problems with their application? Do I have to send a copy of my reentry permit with my application? Thanks!

  6. Finally got an answer from uscis but not a good one. They said to wait for 14 more days for the interview letter. If she doesn't receive the interview letter yet then she has to write a letter of request (?). But for now uscis can't even put in a service request or make an infopass! They said to search for the phone # for new orleans field office.

It is frustrating and scary because I'm thinking of filing mine at the end of next month. But what if the same thing will happen to me?! I need to hurry up and upgrade my f2a-ir1.

  7. It's been 7 months since my sister applied for citizenship, she received the yellow letter that states the things she needs to bring for the interview a month ago but until now there's no schedule. Every time we call to see what's going on, all they could tell us was the processing times of new orleans which we can look it up online.

Is there anybody else who experienced or currently experiencing this long process to citizenship?

  8. Has she logged into the uscis web site nd tracked where her status is now. I filed the last week of April and my Oath ceremony is in 9 days from now. Most of the filers in April have all at least had an interview by now. Very odd that your sister has heard nothing. I would also make an info pass appoinment to find out whats going on.

She just called today and told them that it has been 5mons and as usual they were useless. They said that new orleans' office is still processing march filers and to wait for 61days till she hears something.

  9. Service center has nothing to do with delays.

Many filers from TX and AZ service centers who applied in June already US citizens now and some already almost done.

It has to do with your local office. This is the office that handle your case after the biometric is done (scheduling interview, bla bla all the way to oath cermony)

Best way is to follow members from the same local office and track their timeline, it will give you an idea about what to expect.

Needless to say, every case is different, but if your case got out the processing time, you need to call and put a service request.

Thanks! What's the normal processing time? Is it 5mons?

  10. yes i know i will keep it updated ... and yeah i know the wait seems just too looong ... i havtn even waited a month and it seems like its taking forever i feel as if my whole life is on hold ... i am cheking VJ for updates everynight ... and i have learned one thing there is no order to things when it comes to uscis .. i ave seem peop;e get approved in as little as 20 days and some as late as 9 months... hope we wont have to wait that long ..

Yes that is very true. I just hope that we will not have delays. We have been waiting for 4yrs to be together so I guess I can wait for 1 more year. I'm like you, I'm anxious to get everything ready for when we get our approval. And at times I have to remind myself that I have to wait for 5mons before I hear anything. Keep me posted and I'll update mine as soon as I receive something. Thanks and God bless our journey.

  11. Im a PR, got my GC in Oct 2005. I applied for re entry permit before i went home in Oct 2006, I stayed for 1.5yrs in my home country to finish my school. I came back to US in April 2009. I have never taken trips outside US longer than six months after that. I just want to get this right. Can I apply for ctizenship on feb 2013? Thanks for any info.
