  1. Agreed! Reading the instructions should always be the first way to get information.

    Here: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864instr.pdf

    Best of luck!

If you can get just Tax Transcripts from IRS (you can order on-line), you need not to submit W2's and 1099's.

How important to provide job letter? Job letter means offer/joining letter or you meant something else?

Also, which one we should calculate the household income, current year's gross salary?

My wife doesn't have sufficient income last year but this year's salary is above 125% of poverty guidelines.

    Thanks !

  2. Yes, it's a new EAD, not a renewal, because the old EAD was based on different eligibility criteria. For all I know, A-numbers are supposed to be issued for life, so I would out the A# you have in the forms. They might still issue you a new one with the AOS (this has happened with some VJ members earlier), but they will be able to also match the old one to you.

Where i can find my A# (A-numbers) to put in the forms?

    I have H1B earlier.

  3. My USC wife and i are working together on getting the AOS package getting ready.

I was on H1b(daughter on H4), lost my job and currently out of status.

Wife will be filing for myself and her step daughter (my daughter from prev marriage).

So per my understanding until now, we need to file the following:

Please let me know if i am missing anything.

    For Myself:

    I-130, Fee $420

    I-864,

    I-693(Medical by doctor),

    I-765,

    Not needed(I-131 Advance Parole),

    G-325A(Petitioner(wife) & Beneficiary(Myself the husband)

    I-485, Fee $985

    G-1145 for email/Text notifications

Biometrics/FP at Application center, Fee of $85 to be added to the same check

Fee/check: one total check of $1490($420 + $985 + $85), Check payable to "Department of Homeland Security"

    For Daughter:

    I-130,

    I-864,

    I-693(Medical by doctor),

    Not needed(I-131 Advance Parole),

    G-325A(Petitioner(wife) & Beneficiary(daughter),

    I-485, Fee $985

    G-1145 for email/Text notifications

Biometrics/FP at Application center. No Fee for minor

Fee/check: one total check of $1405 ($420 + $985), Check payable to "Department of Homeland Security"

    Questions for guru's:

    - Anything missing in list given above?

    - Any way to follow to write check?

    - Whats the process for I-693? Is it like applicant need to > take blank I-693 to doctor > after tests Doc fills the I-693, seal it & give back to the applicant?

And applicant send I-693 along with package?

    - Do we need lawyer?

    - Also, how 'out of status' going to affect me? Do i need to do anything specific for that during AOS process?

BTW, i have I-94 valid until end of the year.

    - Any guidelines/tips for us for overall process

I really appreciate your replies !

So i need to send 3 separate checks.

How many pay stubs required from petitioner(wife)?

Please anyone can have a look and let me know what i am missing? twonightowls? CocoCoco?

    Thanks !

    1. Winter travels is just the trip we took during X'mas and luckily I did not throw away all the receipts

    2. I put everything in one envelope, as oth VJers have indicated that they disassemble everything to their own sorting way once they opened the package.

    3. I sent as many as I could gather, I knew that some people here didn't necessarily send alot, but personally I want to have more instead of not sending enough

    4. I separated the checks in case they send my files to different agents

Hope this helps! Let me know if I can help further. You should edit your signature so we could know what you are preparing as well.

    Thanks twonightowls !

    2. So you put I-485, I-130, I-765, I-864 in separate small envelopes and then everything in one big envelope?

a- How many passport photos needed? Did you attach to the forms or put in a separate envelope?

b- In I-130, there are so many docs. Did you used any tabs or something to distinguish the multiple documents?

c-Do we need to make color copies or B/w will do?

    Updated my signature :-)

  5. Hello all ! It's a blessing that all you VJers are so helpful and kind!

I am asking all your kindness to please take one last look at my Cover letter and Content lists to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I have always been saying "currently preparing the paperwork" for the past month  , and now it's finally the time to send off the AOS package tomorrow. Thank you all for your great input and patience for my questions, and the numerous guides and samples provided by VJers! Without you all, I have no idea where to begin this huge process!

    Your preparations looking solid!

It looks so organised and sufficient. This will help many including myself :-)

    Questions for you:

    - I assume "winter travels" is some kind of holiday package, right?

    - So, how you organised all these 4 forms/applications while mailing out? Did you put separate applications in separate envelopes or something?

    - Joint bank stmt's, utility bills come every month. How many of those you sent?

    - How you sent the check? Was it single check or separate for separate applications?

    Thanks twonightowls !!

  6. When I had my interview the officer looked at our hands and said: 'you have wedding rings and everything ... I can see its a real marriage.' I am not saying, that's what proves a real marriage, but be aware, that the subject could come up. You do have a good explanation which makes sense tho ...

Even i would avoid that question to come up by wearing the rings.

Few things are in your control and few aren't. Atleast, take care of the things that you have control on. :-)

    my 2 cents...

  8. Hello Friends !

My wife is going to file AOS for myself and her 8 years step daughter(biological my kid from previous marriage).

We are working on putting all the documentation together, and don't want to miss out anything.

Could anybody please give me some checklist for the documents that we need to arrange?

I have idea for myself, though good checklist will help me. I am more concerned about the kid.

If somebody did AOS for kid as well as addition to himself/herself, please guide me.

What forms, documents, evidences, Fee i will be needing?

    Appreciate your help !
