  1. I read this on a blog

"Fiance visa applicants are often asked to show that their sponsor is able to support them at 100% of the federal Poverty Guidelines. These guidelines are published annually and can be found on Form I-864P, published by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The sponsor may be asked to fill out an Affidavit of Support on USCIS Form I-134 (which is much shorter than the I-864 Affidavit that sponsors of immigrants for green cards must fill out)."

My annual salary is below the 125% guidelines but my fiancé's salary is above the 125% guidelines. Does that mean i still need to get a co - sponsor or my fiance's salary covers for me

I really don't get the whole co-sponorship thing. Please help

Are you referring to Affidavit of Support at the Consular section or that of AOS? If you are askg that of the interview at the Consular section, i doubt if they will accept the I-134 form. Mine wasnt even looked at during the submission of my docs awaiting the interview, and i know other people whose i-134 wasnt taken from them.

  2. Hi everyone!

So today is a wonderful day...we applied for the green card back in March and my husband was changing from the B2 visa. We were under RFE review for almost 3 months and I was worrying day and night all the time because everyone was getting news and I wasnt! Then this morning, we received a text and email update saying that the i-485 adjustment of status application went into card production!! We didnt even have an interview :) I didnt think it was actually possible, so everyone just keep your heads up and think positive...thank you for all your help!

    congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Perfect news for a Friday in July: My husband's I-485 petition was approved today, and the green card is in production. After receiving the Potential Interview Waiver letter on 4/22, we are both ECSTATIC that a little under 3 months later, he's been approved WITHOUT interview! Can't thank VJ enough and all of the wonderful people on here that have provided so many informative resources over the past 1 year, 5 months, and 23 days that we've been embroiled in this immigration process. I know that the battle is yet to be over, but it's nice to have gotten this far!

    Christina & Samuel

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

My then fiancee(wife) visited me only once and spent 7 days only. She arrived in Ghana on May 1, 2012 and departed May 7, 2012. At my interview, I was only asked to say what we did on each day of her visit. Nothing more

thank you for this post. I feel much better now. Proving a genuine relationship will not be a problem because it is genuine. My only worry was the one visit and you have just eased my mind, again. Medase m'adamfo! And akwaba to the us!

U will be very fine. Wishing you the very best

  5. Can anyone inform me if they have any experience or know any outcomes filing for K-1 Visa with just one visit to Ghana? I've seen several people approved with two or three visits, has anyone heard of any outcomes with just one?

  6. I filed I-751 base on extreme cruelty and abuse in Dec 2012.I got NOA 1 in December and that is all.

I received REF in November 2013 asking for more evidence proving bonafied marriage.

I sent RFE answer on January 22,2014.Got interview notice this April and was there today (29th) at 1pm for my interview.

I went there about 1 hour earlier. After I check in I wait for about 45 min when a woman of about 55 - 60 I guess called my name.

She greated me and walk me to her room. She said I will interview you today but before you seat down I will have u sear that you are only going

to tell nothing but the true. I wear .We sat down face to face like on a dining table.

She took my form I-751 and basically asking me same questions I answer on them. Like my name, my address, my age, my ex-wife name , age....

After that she ask How we met ?which year? how long before getting married, How is my relation with her family, How was she behaving before and after I got here

Tell her about the abused stuffs? Was she on drug or anything else? Does control anything I do? Supposing I was in my country and my wife was behaving that way what will I do?

She asked where did I live when I got here? Do we have kids together ? Does she have any? do I have any? Did we leave in apartment or house?

She ask about how I end up in a domestic violence shelter ? Did I go through any therapy? Any letter proving that all that? She said I will keep the original documents from the shelter in my file and I will give you copies. And her last question was, "do u know your wife contact immigration that she will not sponsor you again so she want us to deport you?"

After all she said, I will go ahead and approve your green card. You will received it in about 10days in the address you put the I-751 or do you want us to send it somewhere else?

Do you have any question? I only said thanks you? she said then we are done. See you one day again somewhere else. She walked me out and said bye bye bye!!!!

Immigration knows some US citizens bring foreigners here and think they have all the right over them, like they don't have a say just because they are not Americans.

But it is a lie...when the time come they will know if you marry for good or you are a scammer. Just present your case ,and what you don't know about don't try it ask for help and do it the right way.

"Thank you very much Sandra"!!! For all your helps !!! God Bless you

CONRATULATIONS!!!! Your post is and will serve as an inspiration to other men who are going through similar situation. It beats my imagination why SOME petitioners think that once their beneficiaries arrive in the US, they become their "servants" and subject them to all kinds of treatments and often threatening them with deportations.

The US justice system doesnt work only for US citizens; its provides justice for all the oppressed without any affiliations. Wishing you the very best in your eneavours

  7. Hello fellow vj's,

are there any vjs currently living in the state of ga waiting for aos?

my husband was able to get a state id but it expired when the i-94 expired...

now that he has his biometrics appt is this letter sufficient to get a state id?

    thank you,

    vjs

Am in GA and also awaiting my AOS approval. My State ID and Driviver's licence expired once my I-94 expired. For now, there isn't anything to do until at least the EAD is in hand.
  8. Just take it a day at a time. I arrived last year Dec 25 and went through the same thing your fiance is going through. I perfectly understand how he feels. I also have a daughter back home n calling to hear that she is sick shuts me down totally. My wife has been very supportive n patient. I never liked the food nor any other thing but guess what??? I now eat almost everything she cooks and settling down gradually.

Never be discouraged. Eventually, he will be fine like me. Treat him with much more love and care. Good luck
