  1. I had crossed many many times after NOA2 and even now at a month from my interview. The only thing they asked is to prove that I still have strong ties to Canada and that I have to come back. I do bring a letter from my employer saying that I have to be back at x date, my mortgage statement, a copy of NOA2 and my most recent pay stub. Of course a return ticket too, very very important !

    Good luck ! :D

  2. Im in the same situation as everyone else here, of course, and I dont have 3 months to plan a wedding, ive had ever since my Fiance asked me to marry him.

We have already found a venue for the ceremony and reception, which includes catering, that is allowing us to set a date and change it one time if it needs to be. There is estimated times you will all have thought about for when your visa may be approved, you can then figure out a wedding date from that.

Another thing is, once the visa is approved, dont forget the visa is good for 6 months until you enter the US. Which is also plenty more time do sort things out.

I know what style I am looking for in my flowers and other decor, I know what style of cake I want and I have researched photographers i like, and once my visa is approved I can book these things, and give them a proper wedding date which are all things that are easily done within just a month..

The family that means something to me are willing and able to attend my wedding. I will get my visa approval and arrange a wedding date for around 2 months after that. 1 month after visa approval I will travel to the US. 2 months is plenty of time for my family to arrange travel time off from jobs etc.

A lot of you act like you need to quickly marry in a courthouse and then have this fake wedding after. But having one wedding is totally doable, because I am.

The faster we get married the faster we can start on the AOS ! I know family is important but not to the extent of them deciding how and when you should marry...

  3. Just got my k-1visa and it's time to plan for the wedding. My thought is that we are going to have a small court wedding with only a few friends involved. But my family is giving me a lot pressure and they want to have a formal one!!! They are saying this is going to be our 1st wedding and we need to get it memorable. On my side, I just want to get the wedding thing to be simple and as less efforts we can put in as possible. I have already been so stressed about moving, losing my job and all the big chang... I am feeling so depressed....what should I do?

I don't want to upset my family on a small wedding but hate to put a big one as they intended. My fiancé also agrees on a small one ...

We decided to do a small court wedding and will do the more formal one with friends and family next summer. With all the changes (moving, quit my job...) planning a wedding within 3 months is just insane ! Don't forget, it's your and your fiance wedding, you do what YOU two really want !

    Have a happy one ! :D

  4. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm going to ask it anyway.

I need to send money to someone in Canada. What's the best way?

I can write a personal check, but will they have any issues depositing it into their Canadian bank account? What about a money order (I hate them, but I'll use one if I have to.) How will the money conversion work?

I might be able to paypal the person, but I need to send more than the monthly paypal limit. I've never done a Western Union thing, so I don't know how difficult that would be for me or them. I also don't know how readily available Western Union is in their part of Canada.

    Any help/opinions?

    Wire transfer

  5. Anyone fluent in both languages can do the translations. The person that does the translation must add a certification like this: http://www.visajourney.com/content/translations

    That is great news !

The translated document can be done on a regular sheet of paper ?

Someone else will have to answer about translating it yourself but for all of my translations I used a website service. Got everything back in 24 hours or less.

    For how much ?

  6. I heard that as soon as you booked your interview you cannot travel to the US until you have your visa in hand, is that true ? I was planning to go see my sweetheart this week end to celebrate our engagement anniversary. Im canadian and cross the border once a month to see my fiance, i've never overstay and i always have proof of stong ties in canada (mortgage statement, employer letter...). Will i have problems at the border ? Did the embassy red flag me at the border ?? Im very looking foward to that long weekend wich will be the last until i move next november

    Help please !

    Thanks :)

  7. I was wondering what is the average processing time for Montreal consulate to enter my petition in their system once they received it from NVC ? I called DOS last monday, they said my petition was sent on August 2nd but they could not see it logged at the consulate yet.

Its just that I don't want to call DOS too often since it cost me a lot in long distance charges !

    Thanks !

  8. It's been a good weekend (not over yet though!). Watched "Ted" (super funny), slept in this morning, then went out for lunch and went grocery shopping. Picked up some things to try new recipes this month (speaking of which, if anyone likes to cook/bake and wants to trade recipes - I'm always looking for new things for my super picky fiance). I really love cooking and I'm trying to get my fiance to eat more veggies so I bookmarked some new recipes lately. Also gonna make some Peanut Butter Bars for my co-workers this week :) Hunkering down in case Tropical Storm Ernesto hits us, which I'm hoping it will only send rain our way :/

I am the queen at hiding veggies in almost eveything !

I'll share my tricks if you want ! I also do a kick #### chicken soup ! I am a huge fan of almost every cuisine of the world !

It's funny how food bring people together whatever country, culture or religion.

  9. I was going to ask the same question :)

we received our noa2 on 7/27. Today, we received the I-797 notice of action, which I think is the hard copy of noa2 stating that our petition is approved. However, it says "the above petition has been approved and forwarded to the listed consulate." it also states that we should contact the consulate if we have any questions about the visa issuance. It sounds as if they're sending it straight to the consulate.. I guess by forwarding it automatically implies sending it to the NVC first..? Did anyone have the same language on their noa2 hard copy?

Did USCIS tell you to contact NVC? I did a quick search and found this number for calling the NVC 603-334-0700. Is this the number you guys called as well?

    Help much appreciated! :)

It is the phone number to reach NVC :)
