Just called NVC and got my Montreal case number. The guy told me I'll receive a notice (he could not tell if by letter or email) for when they'll sent my application to the Montreal consulate...how long should I wait before Before sending packet 3 ?

We have just called NVC. They received our case and updated it in the system. It will be sent to embassy on Monday. They didn't give us a case # as Slovak people don't need it.

You might want to call today too since we have the same noa2 date

Just called NVC and they did not received my case yet and told me it could take up to 3 weeks before they receive it from VSC... I guess I'll keep calling !

however, I believe if you're in Canada you can use Gmail to call US numbers for free! Well, actually, I use it for calling my friends in Canada from US but I think that it should also work the other way

I heard that petition from VSC going to NVC are processed faster than the ones from CSC...i know I should probably wait to give them a call to get my MTL case number (noa2 on 7/19) though is it true ?

Normally the longest wait after the NOA2 is the USCIS to NVC transfer of the petition. For us it was 2 weeks for NVC to receive and about 2 days to assign a case # and they sent it to Montreal right away!

The million dollar question! Montreal is notoriously slow and no one can predict how long this will take. Based on my experience and one year on VJ, you can count about 3 weeks for Montreal to receive your case from NVC, log it and to send you Packet 3. Then it all depends how quickly you send them your documents. Say it's right away, it'll sit in their mail room for 2 weeks and most likely processed on the 3rd, when they'll send your Packet 4. You can then schedule your medical and interview appointment, which will most likely be at least 4-5 weeks out. I'd say you're looking at minimum 11 weeks. So perhaps, an October visa?

Keep in mind that is if Montreal is not any more backlogged than it has been lately; if you are on top of things and send your documents back right away; assuming there is nothing wrong with your medical AND you are not stuck in AP after your interview. It will all be over soon. Good luck!

They are even refusing requests after the 6 months mark!!! RIDICULOUS!!!!

Their system has gone totally wrong and they should do something about it!!! They cannot just deny what has been officially stated on their own website. At least change it, damn it!

That's misleading and simply a lie....

As soon as you hit the 6 months mark contact your local congressman and ask them to do an expedite. That is what we did and curiously we were approved 2 days after... It might be just a coincidence but you have nothing to lose by doing it !

well it's hard to tell if it works or not... their case could have been already with the adjudicator when their congressman contacted the USCIS having said that, I do hope it works as we will be asking them to expedite our petition today!

You know very well that processing in order and approving in order are entirely different matters.

We do know that perfectly by now ! But this not changing the fact that this is unfair to all who are going through this. For all I know, maybe our box is on a desk of an adjucator on a sick leaving and will stay there until he is coming back...
