  1. Question to everyone as we now sit and wait. I see three different dates and trying to determine the most accurate. Does anyone have experience with these dates?

On visajourney processing times page it shows an August date for vcs and a September date for csc. Based on those dates we all have about five more months to wait or a September approval or total 210 days.

In visa journey under immigration timelines and stats for removal of conditions, it lists about 150 days total time from application.

On the uscis page for csc it lists the last approved date of July 3 (as of March 6) and adding a month lets say now August 3 or an October approval or 240 total days.

Does anyone know what is the most accurate to follow? 150 days, 210 days or 240 days from NOA 1

    Thank you

  2. We went to our biometric appointment and want to share the experience. We are in Seattle so I don't know if your experience will be different or similar. We had bad traffic and arrived 10 minutes before the scheduled appointment and we went through security. At security they asked for the appointment letter from uscis and our ID. I am a US citizen and showed my drivers license and my wife showed her green card. We had to remove shoes, belts, and everything from the pockets and walk through a metal detector very similar to an airport experience. They gave us a one page form to complete and then told us to report to window 11. The form asked for name, uscis A#, application #, address and other names know (name before married). The A# and application # are on the the letter. At window 11 they asked for the letter, one page form and green card and looked at the front and back,of her hands. They matched everything on the computer (name before married was in computer and on the form they gave us). They gave back the form, letter, green card and a number and sent my wife to the back. She waited 2 minutes and was called to a computer station and a woman helped her do all 10 fingerprints, the scanned and then rolled them. After fingerprints my wife sat for 2 minutes and then took her photo and that's it! That photo will be on your 10 year green card so make sure you look good! My wife looked very pretty! Total time at uscis about 20 minutes.

Biometric is complete and now we sit and wait for 5-7 months. Good luck to all.

  3. I received the first NOA that is the letter stating my application was received and conditional resident status is extended for one year. There is a line on the letter I want everyone to notice (I skimmed over it and we startled later) that says the online request tool will refer to your I-751 as 'CRI89'.

When I received the NOA2 (ASC Appointment notice) it lists a case number and two application/request numbers. ASC=application support center (where you go for biometrics). I was confused by the two application numbers (WAC numbers for me) both listed in the same line at the top and then also listed separately with a barcode at the bottom. The first number is the same receipt number from your NOA1 and the second number on the bottom says application number 2 is for the CRI89 and this is the number you use to track on the online tool.

At this point the online tool doesn't tell me much other than the date received and that a letter was sent with instructions (NOA2).

I hope this helps and removes the 30 minutes of confusion I had.

  4. Hello,

I received my NOA2 (ASC biometric appointment) and I had read in a previous thread that I use the receipt number from the NOA2 and not the NOA1 for tracking purposes. The problem is where to find the number on the NOA form.

The NOA1 is official looking with 'The United States of America' in a banner on the top and receipt number at the top and a line that states 'the above receipt number must accompany all queries'.

The NOA2 says I-797C and has two application numbers on it but no receipt number. The application/request numbers are both listed at the top and then also each separate with a bar code at the bottom.

Can someone help me understand what these mean?

    Thank you

  6. Hello,

I just want to make sure I understand the possible steps with the I-751 application.

1--send in application and verify received via post office tracking number.

2--receive noa acknowledging receipt that acts as a letter allowing one year travel

3--receive noa for biometric appointment. This is he number that can be tracked in the uscis system

4--wait for possible interview, rfe, or acceptance/denial notification

5--I am with California service center (Laguna Niguel) and it seems a wait of about 6 months

Is there anything else that is received or steps to be aware of?

My check when it clears uscis has a case number on the back. Does anyone know if it is the number for step 2 or 3 above?

Thank you. It's been two years since we filed for the original green card and now must be patient

  7. Hello,

Did you have children and included then in that section? I ask because the first part of the. Instructions state: 'This form is used by a conditional resident who obtained status through marriage, to request that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) remove the conditions on his or her residence'

Since the child section includes a box for an A number and the box you reference says not filing with me because she will never file being a US citizen. Do you have children that are citizens, included them and they were approved or are you offering your opinion based on how you read the instructions.

The purpose of the form is to remove conditions and the evidence will have my daughters birth certificate so I am not trying to hide anything I just want to make sure I do it correctly.

Thank you all for your help.

  8. Hello,

I have seen this topic answered in many ways and I was hoping someone who recently filed and was approved could answer. The situation:

1--We are filing the I-751 in February

2--We have a child that was born in the USA during our marriage and is a US Citizen since she was born here

3--the form in part 4 it says 'list all children' and so by the wording it appears we include our daughter in part 4

4--the instructions say to include dependent children on the same form if they have conditional resident status on the same day or within 90 days but to use a separate form if conditional residents.

The instructions seem to state that only children that are conditional residents should be included but the form says all children. It is confusing. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thank you

  9. Hello,

I am a US Citizen and my wife is a Thai national with a two year green card (February 2012). We are expecting a baby in the USA in November and the child will have a US Birth Certificate and a US Passport but we heard we could also get a Thai birth certificate and passport too. Can anyone help with this process? We heard we could go to the local Thai temple and twice a year there are people who can help but when we contacted the temple they said no.

Second question is my wife wants to take the baby back to Thailand to visit her family for a few months in 2014 (July-Nov/Dec) and the problem is that is during the two year green card and she is worried that it will send the wrong message and make the embassy think she is not sincere in living here. Does anyone have experience with this?

    Thank you

    C

  10. I have read the same topic asked multiple times but I understand the reason it is being asked.

The internet has 1,000s of responses and can say contrary things so it feels safer to come to a community of people who have done the exact thing you are trying to do and are members to learn and help others.

English is not everyone's first language on here and even for educated English speakers the content can be confusing. I just received approval (twice) for the same AP I-131 and yet never received a card even when the USCIS website said it was sent. Why? because I received an I-512 combination card. I did not even know they existed, they weren't on the application that is part of the process (I-485, I-765, and I-131 together) and so I know they are unexpected twists and turns.

Also, when I have posted question A because the information on the packet wasn't clear some of the answers weren't clear. In other words just because a question is answered doesn't mean it answered the question and might need to be repeated.

Part of the reason people post is for reassurance. They may know the answer and yet they see people with the same file date get documents before them and the uncertainty sets in. Sometimes they ask a question to verify they are correct because the lack of information from the USCIS can cause doubts in even the most prepared and confident applicants.

Is there some laziness or repetition? Yes but that is why a community like this is so helpful. For the most part we are patient understanding and willing to explain multiple times if necessary to assist others in achieving their dream.

I see it is a frustration to you and the solution is simple, don't read the duplicates. There are others on here who it does not bother and they will answer the questions to help. We all have our pet peeves and this is one of yours and that is fine but it won't change and I am not sure it should. The open arms aspect of this community is what makes it special and unique.

    Just my 2 cents worth

  11. On the letter you got informing you of your interview, there is a number, a receipt number. If you go to www.uscis.gov, you can enter that under 'track my status' and see the progress. Right now yours will say 'Interview stage' or something like that. Theoretically, once it's approved, that will change, and then you can see also when the card has been issued to be produced.

We filed the EAD and AP at the same time and received an NOA notice but when I enter those receipt numbers there is zero information, is that normal? I think the biometrics appointment was for both the AOS and EAD but there has been nothing regarding AP

  12. I wouldn't worry too much. We just had our interview, and they didn't actually look at a single piece of evidence we brought. So bring what you can, they could ask for it. Do you have any bills in both your names? Is she on your health care, etc? Lease, anything? They didn't ask to see ours, but they could have. Photos, etc. Just bring any evidence you have. It does seem that on the Removal of Contingencies is when they really want to see all the 'co-finances' and all that.

My wife also has 1 injection that the civil surgeon marked needs to be done in a year. So no, it won't be a problem, as long as she is caught up to date 'for now', that's all the expect.

We had our interview, and the person told us basically that we were approved, but that he just needed a bit more time to enter it into the computer, he wanted to glance through the file one more time. I was hoping the website would be updated later that day, but it's now three days later, and it's still not updated to say 'accepted', so now I'm a bit worried that maybe some piece of paperwork is missing and maybe we'll get a letter requesting something further. Or hopefully he's just a bit behind in entering it all into the system.

As for a percentage, I would think it's fairly high. From what we experienced in our interview, if your relationship is real, you have absolutely nothing to fear. The whole thing took about 15 minutes, they asked questions that were very easy if you really knew each other.

Having a baby could certainly help, you'd need a DNA test of some kind I suppose to prove that it's both of yours, but again, I wouldn't worry too much. I know it's incredibly stressful, but they aren't out to deny real couples.

Thank you and congratulations on your interview and good luck. You mention that you look on the website for information, where are you looking? I did not know that was possible.

  13. Hello,

We just received our interview date for AOS today. The interview is in one month. I am looking at the immigration timelines and I see that almost everyone who has an interview receives a decision the same day but it doesn't say what the decision is. I know every case is different but is there an overall average acceptance that you are aware of? We turned in our paperwork mid February so everything has gone pretty quickly, 3 months from mailing the I-485 until interview date.

    The 2 biggest concerns are:

1--we haven't received AP or EAD yet. We were waiting for the EAD before applying for a social security card as the application suggests and we were waiting for the social to have a bank account together...will this be a problem?

2--the I-693 has 2 injections that are not complete because not enough time passed until the next injection was due. My wife had an initial injection and then a followup but came to America as required by the k-1 before finishing the series. will this be a problem?

Since we just found out we are having a baby, would that be a positive development for this process?

  14. Congratulations on the baby! Your baby will have rights to citizenship of Thailand and USA regardless of where it is born as long as you can prove that the mother is a Thai national, and that the Father is a US national. Very easy process in the US. We just went through the process a couple of years ago, and now our daughter holds both US, and Thai passports. Not sure how difficult it would be in Thailand. My guess is that it would not be that hard, just a matter of having all the proper paperwork (Passports, birth certificates etc).

Thank you for your comments. We are very excited for the baby and plan to have the birth here in the USA. I know it will be easy to get a USA birth certificate since he/she will be born here but how did you get the Thai passport?

  15. Hello,

After getting married, I filed for AP so my wife can travel back to Thailand, EAD so she can work while living here, and AOS so that she can get a green card and as with every other filing all I can do now is wait. We just found out that we are pregnant and I have the following questions:

1--When should we apply for a social security card (maybe I am late in doing that)?

2--It appears the processing times are running about 2 months for AP, 3 months for EAD, and 6+ months for a green card if there are no problems...does that appear correct?

3--My wife wants to travel back to Thailand to visit her family and the pregnancy has made this more urgent. How long can she stay in Thailand each visit? If there is a limit (3 months I have heard) can she return to the usa and then go back again? What are the usual rules regarding number of visits and length of visits?

4--What are the chances to have a baby with dual citizenship? IS it better the baby is born in the usa or Thailand?

Thank you for any help you can provide
