I may be wrong (so please double-check), but I don't remember reading that you must live in the US until you become a US citizen.  :reading:

I mean you'll need to come back to the US for your interview and oath ceremony, but I'm not sure if you'll need to live in the US during the N-400 application process once you've lived in the US for 3 years (if you're married to a US citizen) or 5 years as a permanent resident.  :huh2:

As long as you meet residency requirements you’re fine. Of course better to ask a lawyer.

Got another email today but this time it said that "We updated your case and it needs your attention". It made me scared but when I logged on, its updated now and says "We scheduled your interview" :)

Although there is nothing in documents tab yet, but I can wait :)

    Thanks,

    Khawar

Usually takes 2-3 business days from the time you get that message to the time they actually upload the PDF. Not sure why they wouldn’t just do it at the same time....

I filed mine on paper as well and have been in line for interview since 9/28. I guess on line filers in Los Angeles also could benefit from on line filing. It should be understandable for paper filers to feel frustrated. I just wish some on line filers(a minorty of them)here at least could be a bit understanding or sensitive about paper filers' situations, and not just take things for granted and be like "Oh well, it is what it is, nothing unfair about it". I am sure the majority of the online filers here are understanding and supportive, but at least the silver lining is maybe the LA office is moving at least. Good luck to you. Hope for the best.

I can’t imagine who you’d be referring to! LOL.

Hey, I got this email today from ELISdonotreply@uscis.dhs.gov that my case has been updated but when I logged on, there is nothing new. Is there a delay in updates to show up on site and email comes earlier?

    Thanks,

    Khawar

Normal. Give it a couple days

  4. Online filters aren’t jumping ahead. Think about it. Behind the obvious aspect where online is more efficient, if they have 100,000 paper filers and 10,000 online filers in a month (absolutely no clue on numbers, just an example) and they process equal numbers of both, then of course the online filers will get done sooner.

Think of it the other way around. The only way to make the timelines equal between paper and online filers would be to artificially slow down the online filing process which is certainly not fair either.

Hello, Any August online filers from Newark, New Jersey area getting interview dates? I filed N-400 for both of my parents online on August 31st. They had their finger prints done on 9/18 (Mom) and 9/22 ( Dad). Waiting in line for interview since then.....  Any info on timeline from New Jersey area is appreciated.

There’s a timeline a few posts above yours.

I just asked if we had to follow the order of january/april/august/dec for quartely or if we could pick the months that's all. Nothing to hide here but hey if that makes you feel happy inside you can speculate and judge all you want... if it makes you happy

It does nothing for me one way or the other. I couldn’t care less. But if you’re asking on a public forum whether withholding information because it might be looked at in a negative way is a good idea, you’re sure to get responses suggesting that you should probably be honest.

You sound very defensive. That’s unfortunate.

    Hello,

I know this is a different topic, but I would like to ask if somebody has received an email from VisaJourney yesterday saying that account has been locked due to many failed attempts to log in from an unknown device and different location. It happened to me last night and apparently, somebody was trying to get into my account from Michigan. I was suggested to change my password for security reasons. But I was wondering if there was a breach or if that was a phishing email.

Neither. It was probably exactly what it said.

Well, maybe it's because the average of 1,000 people per week have been moving to the Seattle area?  :clock:

I hope you receive your "In Line" notification soon!  :dancing:

That's strange since I received my "In Line" notification last week, and I didn't even file online!

Online filers don’t get an in line notification

Thank you so much for clarifying this. I was SUPER confused trying to compare my status with other's. But it was difficult as most of the people are paper filers and they kept mentioning "in line" status, which I never received. Now, I am good with your clarification. Do you know what would be the next status for online filers after my stage? When could I expect my status to change? Thank you :)

The next one will say "read the letter we mailed you", and a couple days later you'll be able to see the PDF of the interview letter in your account.

Hi I'm a Sep'17 online filer. I wonder if USCIS stop this case status: "Case is In Line for An Interview". I never received it but my friend who is a paper filer got it.

My case on the other hand moved directly from "We reviewed your biometrics" to "USCIS has scheduled for your interview and will mail your notice soon". Confirmation/clarifications from any experts would be highly appreciated.

online filers dont get the "in line" message. When it comes to putting in an "in line" date in the timeline, online filers use the date the status changes to the one you have.

    • I got this from uscis site ?
    • Authorization: By submitting your check, you authorize USCIS to convert your check into an electronic fund transfer. If the transfer cannot occur for technical reasons, you authorize us to process the copy of your original check through normal paper check procedures.
    • Electronic Deposit of Checks: If you are paying your fees by check, we will convert your check into an electronic fund transfer. We will use the account information from your check to make an electronic fund transfer from your checking account for the amount of the check.

Well you know better than me then. Go for it.
