    If it’s the 3 year, you’ll need to upload things like tax returns etc. The application will tell you.

    Some on here will say just 3 years but in my opinion if you’re filing by paper and they ask for 5 you should just do 5.

     

    That said, If you file online it will not allow you to continue to the next page until you’ve filled it in sufficiently, so if it will let you go to the next question with only three years of history, then you’re good.

    It can. It probably won't, but it can. 

     

    Mine still says 3 months even though I have my oath ceremony on Dec 20.

    I would have preferred a modified oath to remove the god part since I don't believe in that stuff, but decided it really isn't worth the effort. At the end of the day, they're just meaningless words anyway.

     

    Anyway, the only question I have is... they don't make each individual person recite the oath, right? They just have the whole group all repeat it back at the same time? I mean, if the latter, how would they ever know if you just neglected to say the last couple words? Or any of it at all?

    You won’t get anywhere calling them. You’d need to schedule an infopass appointment. 

     

    Keep in mind that it could take months before you get an interview letter. Other people’s cases have no bearing on yours. Maybe their background checks were quicker, no way to know.

     

    If it was me, I’d be scheduling an infopass appointment after about 6 months.

It is unfair given that situation, then USCIS should just encourage people to apply on line so this notion of "We will process applications in order which they were received" will remain. The online filing is supposed to make it easy for USCIS to receive applications electronically, it should not generate a super fast interview dates and cuts the paper files ahead by so many months.  The reality is we do know it does make a HUGE difference by about 60 percent in some cases. Once again, people will feel less frustrated if you "understand" the unfairness of it, but you seem to keep suggesting there is nothing unfair about it, but it is unfair in many cases, it should be understandable that paper filers feeling unfair about it, but i can't change your mind if you think it is totally fair(it obviously is not), my heart goes out to many paper filers who feel the same way i do.

At the top, it states the current processing time for naturalization is 10 months so I guess I should be a citizen by September 2018. It says my case will be processed at the Santa Ana Office. They say they will start the process with a background check, they will schedule me for biometrics and verify my submission for completeness. At the end it states "Current Wait Time: 27 days". Does anybody know what this current wait time refers to? Thank you.

    Wait time before biometrics appointment, I would think.

    The biggest difference is the workload of your field office, your circumstance, and luck. It seems like the average processing time is 3-4 months in this thread for certain offices. While I haven't seen most of the cases at the Seattle FO move at all even from July filers... Furthermore, if you have an "easy" case, such as being a resident that hasn't moved in a while nor have any records, it seems to go extremely quick.

    Yup. The reality of it is that we just don't know how much of a difference it makes. Probably makes some, but so do a ton of other factors. 

     

    But like I've said countless times on this site at this point, there's no good reason to NOT file online (unless you're ineligible). It certainly isn't going to make the process SLOWER.

    in Chicago, online filers who file two to three months behind me got their interviews while I still have three more months to wait. That is unfair. 

    *shrug*

    Only a very select few aren't eligible to file online, so the "have everyone go to online filing" thing has pretty much already happened. And there are a lot of factors that go into timelines. I don't know what to tell you. It's like having two people in the car and choosing to not move into the HOV lanes.
