  1. Guys, shocking news: I received the e-mail saying our petition is approved! That's NOA2! In 16 days! :wow:

I freaked out when I saw we had an e-mail, I thought it was an RFE, and I almost passed out when I saw it was the approval!!!

I'm very very happy of course, but I'm also feeling sad for all of the members here who've been waiting since June or July. And worried about the next steps cause I'm having a hard time getting my police clearance from Turkey (I lived there for 5 years).

But wow, it's been faster than I could've hope for!!!

Wow! You are sooo lucky! Congrats!!!

I really hope it's gonna be quick for you, and for everyone here!

I can't help thinking that the fact I'm from a western european country helped fast forward the process... Not fair for the others but when you look at Igor's list, almost all the members who got approved in less than a month lately had the beneficiary from a Visa Waiver Program country.

Can I ask, what countries are the visa waiver program countries?

  2. Well I feel disheartened about this process sometimes as many times I feel like my spouse is not that interested at all. If it wasn't for this site and the people on here I think I would be going mad. Well will see if we get the hardcopy hubby isn't too interested in it as he said we received e-notification which I'm telling him doesn't mean anything, the hardcopy is what counts. Pray for me guys, I wish he would just be on the same page and as interested as I am.

I have just read all the posts, and replies....and how you changed topic. Can I just say one thing? It's a tough situation for all of us. We are all away from our loved ones. We cannot judge and say that he does not want to be with you, or in no hurry. I don't know either of you. Stress makes all of us react in different ways. I'm sure things will be better once reunited!

    I wish you the best!

  3. I understand how overwhelming this all seems when first starting out (I've been there as have many others on VJ). The VJ community is here to answer any questions you may have.

For the original documents you are referencing, you will not need those until the file reaches the NVC and you can have the proper authority issue a certified copy of the document. The certified copy is an acceptable submission.

Well, from what I see, the NVC wants originals, and then when he goes for interview, they want originals. We only had so many certified copies. I have all the papers. He doesnt have any! So, when its time for interview, I wont have any other originals (cos they are from Syria, and the translations done there also). So, I hope he isnt given a hard time when trying to get more certified copies. I thought waiting for NOA2 was the long part....from what i see, that is the easy part.

  4. I am so glad I found this website!

OMG! I just read the guides, and James' shortcuts, and I am truly overwhelmed. There are so many more forms, and more fees, and more originals. How many originals do they think we have? Ok, now, I am scared. I don't think I can do it. It is too much! Can I just say how stupid I think it is! There is NO REASON to put us through all of this! I'm now moving beyond scared, to pissed.

  5. I have a question. I don't see anyone who has the same situation as I do. Ok, so I know that my I-130 for spouse, after approval, does not need to wait for visa number. Here's where I get confused. He is in Syria. He has never been to america. So, does he go the Consular Processing route? Will I have to fill out an Adjustment of Status? Or no, because he has never been here? Also, if he does the Consular Processing, which country will he go to? I believe the American Embassy in Syria has been closed down.

And, will I have to do the I-864, affidavit of support? And when would I do that? I am just so confused, and I have not found anyone who is in my situation.

Sorry to sound stupid, but I am just soooooo confused.

  6. It is really painful as well. I can not spend a day without my wife. I am at work and chatting with her every day until night. it is still not enough. on top of all that, she is pregnant now and i am not here to support her. I would not like she delivers behind me.

My case had a touch since november 14th. They never take a look at mine at all

I wish there was something we could do....like just tell them, HEY! Why did u stop working on my case!!! At least you get to chat all the time. I am having trouble with my cell, my husband gets none of my texts, and I only get his maybe once every 3 days. We talk by phone 1-2 times per week, it is just sooooo expensive. And for him to go online, he has to pay at an internet cafe. And right now, I want him to save his money for coming here.

I couldnt imagine your pain with her being pregnant. I'm sure that is hard. It makes me wonder, why some get moved along super fast and others are so slow.

  7. Well in my country we can get the marriage certificate right after. I don't think you guys are as impatient as me. I check for a touch every day. I also worry about the interview, I'm very bad at interviews, I get nervous and feel intimidated. I've even started compiling questions about my hubby and asked my friend to help ask me questions.

It was kind of weird. We had to have all kinds of papers, and medical stuff done before they would approve our marriage. Then after approval, I was able to travel there and get married. But, then it was done, and having the papers translated was a piece of cake.

As far as interviews, I don't think I will be interviewed. I believe it will just be him, since he is not in this country. At least that is what I read elsewhere. Some parts of the process still confuse me, but as long as its approved, and quickly, I will be happy!

Good luck to you! And dont worry about the interview. Just be honest.

  8. In my country when u got married, they give you a marriage certificate ( like a subscription for ) with the registration number. But the real marriage certificate is called " Extract of marriage certificate and they deliver them each year in february. I sent USCIS the marriage certifcation ( subscription form) along with an authorization of the national Archive in my country. I will provide the extract of the marriage in the NVC step once i got it in february.

Oh. I see. Its amazing how different each country is. I can get a visa to Syria in 2 days. Here, we wait months or years just for a visa? It just doesnt make any sense to me. Why cant they all just have the same rules....it would be so much easier.

  9. I was thaught about it lastly, just one week before you come up with the same question

Are you as impatient as me? i think i am the most impatient in here. My wife came last october and spent 2 weeks with me, which make me love her much more. On the top of all that, she is pregnant now... I can not wait to be issued this visa to go to my lovely babe

lol....yes, I am impatient! I'm a typical american.....I want instant gratification! :D I am the one who has traveled to him. And its not cheap going to Syria. We just want to be a family. It took his country about 8 months to approve our marriage certificate, so I'm hoping and praying that this will be fast.

  10. You need to creat an account on the USCIS first and add your current case status to your port folio. Then, when they touch your case, you will see the date changed in the field" Last updated" That is where the " Touch" came from... I have learned... YAY!!!

I did create the account right away. I just didnt have any notifications on. The last date anything was done, was 11/21. But I didnt know that if the date changes, that means they "touched" it. Thanks for that info.....I am so glad I found you all!

  11. Hi all, I'm brand new here. I am a USC married to a Syrian. Filed his i-130. I have a few questions. I see where people have to wait for visa number, but we don't because he is spouse of USC and visa number is immediate? Am I correct? No limits to immediate relatives?

Also, I see a lot of you report "touched". I found a post which told me where to find this. I did not have email or text notifications on. So I just did. Will I be able to see everything that already happened, or will I only be notified of future activity?

    9/21/11 - Married in Syria

    11/16/11 - Fedex I-130

    11/17/11 - Received at USCIS

11/18/11 - Text received from USCIS - papers received - sent to California for processing

11/22/11 - check cleared - Received NOA1 form in mail
