I called NVC today. They are still working on releasing the iv bills. I still cannot pay mine yet
And.....I had to call the nvc to find out about sending my originals to them because the embassy in Amman told me to. (since my husband is syrian, and it is HIGHLY unlikely that any papers sent to him, will actually get to him). I hit a road block. The NVC said they send all of the paperwork electronically to Amman for the Syrian cases. NO originals get mailed from the NVC to the Amman embassy. Inside I'm screaming!!! (I cant scream physically cos I have strep, and my throat hurts) So now, I am back to square one! I emailed Amman embassy again, and I am waiting to hear back from them.

No luck with mine yet :/
Mine isn't there yet either

they don't want our money, I guess they are rich
ha ha ha!!! Same problem here....cannot pay....ok....so its free?

HAHA, I'm a loyal fan for 8 seasons strong... i didnt begin though until after I saw a recap of season 2 right before season 3 was starting. I was in tears and hooked from that moment... I watched the first 2 seasons in a few days and was all caught up... it has some low points in terms of storylines, but some really good ones too... i just love it... did i mention all the eye candy
lol
i cannot login either =\
I can log in, but I still cannot pay the IV fee! grrr

Did you get an interview date or case completed? that is a very tough question because of the country situation. I would call NVC and check with them. But yeah, I would send the originals (after you call and confirm with NVC), I would think that you can just include the barcoded cover sheet with the originals.
Ask someone in the sub forum in MENA and see if they did the same thing or not.
I hit multiquote, but it didn't work, duh! Thank you for your help! Will call NVC after work and see what they say
-
False checklists are generated automatically, whether the package is at NVC or fees are being held. NVC really needs to change that
Hmm, I think in your case it would be alright. Just have a cover letter included explaining why you're sending mail to them. Make sure it's big and noticeable so they know why they have them and what they have to do. I'd call up NVC and confirm that this is alright. I'm guessing in your unique situation, they'll accept mail, even though you're doing EP.
Thank you. No, we are not at the interview stage, I am just being proactive. I do not want to wait til the last minute, and then have to scramble. I will call NVC after work, and explain, then hopefully they will say ok. Cover sheet and originals will then be on the way. Thanks for the replies!!!

I have a question. Since my husband is in Syria, we do the electronic processing. His interview will be in Jordan. I was reading their requirements, and they need to have the originals. I do not think that my originals will make it to my husband in Syria with all going on there now. So, I contacted the Jordan embassy. They told me to send all originals to the NVC. If I do send them the originals, will that confuse them, since we do ep? I'm just wondering what to do. Any input?

Mornin all! So excited (in a way) - found out an interesting piece of news last night. If anyone's in my boat waiting for the IV invoice, they aren't releasing those until Friday when the fees drop by almost $200. Spoke to a supervisor last night, who told me that. (on the upside, apparently our AOS package was reviewed and accepted, just waiting on the fee still...weird...)
And now...I am off to get more snuggles
Talk later, and have a WONDERFUL Saturday!
Thanks for this info! I was wondering why I can't access the IV bill! So, we wait another week, but save money. Good and bad. I miss my hubby!

That's really tiny for a file like that
But, oh well! As long as each email is smaller than 10MB, you're good.
Hopefully NVC isn't confused by your multiple emails though, but you should be fine
I hope they are not confused either! I did specify in subject line, what I was sending....its not rocket science....but they are not the brightest bulbs either! LOL
Thanks for your help!

Yeah, my all-in-one has wifi too, and a tiny black-and-white screen. Plus a USB port
It's fancy to say the least.
Hopefully your file wasn't big so it makes it through their email servers...
I think I'm good. One email was only 310.3 kb. I'm guessing kb is smaller than mb. My larger emails (sent 4 total emails) were 4.0mb and 6.0 mb. Phew! I am in the clear!
KB is smaller than MB. And that can't be right... The email you sent with the AOS package attached was 310KB?
Yes, my 2009 tax transcripts....using that handy button on my printer....scanned in all pages to make one document. Was only 310.3 kb.....at least that is what my email says
-
Yeah, if you had asked, I would have pointed you to my wiki. I have a section on scanning stuff that mentions how to combine and merge files into one file. But glad you figured it out
And hey, if it works, then who cares, right? You don't need fancy LED screens with bluetooth or wifi
There's also a handy 'Reduce File Size' if you have Adobe Acrobat
Using that, my original 20MB AOS package went down to 8MB!
My all in one printer has wi fi!
but no bluetooth....and #######.....Darnell....I always type in a keyword and search this site about every question I have, before asking....and I didn't see it on the file size....and i did look, just not good enough i guess.....now I gotta find out....brb
ok, I'm not a techie....so....is kb bigger than mb? My one email I sent is 310.kb
-
With Adobe Acrobat, there's a handy combine and merge option in which after you press it, you can select which documents you want combined, then it puts them all together in one file
But glad your spiffy printer did it for you! And pretty cheap for an all-in-one, wow!
I was researching adobe acrobat....and somehow that is when I found that little click.....it was purely by accident! lol and yea, it is cheap, not the newest one on the market, but it works!

So.....to change topics.....about the pdf software. I went and downloaded it...then scanned in my papers one at a time, and did it that way. Sent in 2 emails to NVC with page 1, page 2...etc.....when......I realized that my scanner/printer does it for me! All I had to do was click one stinking box! It scanned in all the pages as one file! O...M....G! I felt like a bonehead.
I just got the all in one printer today..it was cheap...an epson....in case anyone else needs one. Only $50.

I love this online, electronic processing! Submitted DS-261 (agent form) online. Completed. Paid AOS bill...status in process. Then the fun begins, of emailing all paperwork!
-
Oh, good, just wanted to make sure! Hopefully this time around you'll get it.
I got a guy this time, and he had no problem giving me the iin! Woo Hoo! Every little bit we progress makes me so happy! Now to find the link for the invoice page, and bookmark it!

Thanks! I'm back. Six miles on a bike. Can no longer feel my legs. They're like jelly
Good
Just to make sure, you're asking for the "Invoice Identification Number", right, and not "IIN"? Operators don't know VJ's abbreviations
But yeah, you should be able to get it. It's generated at the same time, or very close to it. True, there probably won't be a bill invoiced yet, but it's always good to know for sure. Call back later tonight and be adamant about it.
I have read in here not to say IIN...probably one of your posts
I do ask for invoice identification number. I was going to wait til bed, but I'm calling now. And if I have to, I will call again later! Frustrating.

From what I understand you do. NVC Jim was awesome he gave me everything I asked for. He said 'now remember you can log on, but there's not going to be anything there for a few days. Don't get mad at me when there isn't' Jim was awesome..
Some representatives are stingy with that IIN. Just keep trying until you get one that isn't. Usually about now is the shift change and the second shifters are pretty laid back.
I've had that experience many times during this whole process!
Ok, thanks. I will call back again, sometime before bedtime. And I will hopefully get a guy! I wish I could ask for Jim!
-
I called back again for the IIN.....and again was told there is no invoice number yet! How come I got the case number but no IIN? She asked me what I wanted it for. I told her to pay the invoice. She said you cant pay the invoice when they haven't generated one yet. OMG! Does everyone else get their IIN when they get their case number?
-
Finally received case number from NVC today! They are finally working again!
And one of my questions was about the electronic processing. My hubby is in Syria, the embassy is closed. However, they are still giving us the Damascus case number, so its ep for us! (just in case anyone else from Syria goes thru the process). I do have one question, I asked for the IIN....the lady said it was just entered into the system, and they do not have the iin yet. Should I call back later tonight, or tomorrow? I was surprised there is no invoice number yet.
And, his interview is scheduled for Amman embassy. She did say I can request Beirut, but no guarantee it will be approved. Ugh!
So, for everyone with NOA2 date around March 9, CALL!

Yes, having dependents makes all the difference. Without them, you cannot file head of household. Head of household is not the same as single.
I see. Which is why I gave my advice for them to call the IRS and get the professional tell them what to do.
-
yes definitely makes a difference, talked to them today, and since i don't have any dependents (they actually asked me if i had kids that used to live with me, live with me now, have been kidnapped or died before december 31, 2011, i was like, excuse me????) so anyway, yeah, that doesn't apply to me, but thank you. i'll be amending it to married filing separately and putting NRA (non resident alien) where the SSN should go. don't really think it makes a difference, but just in case my husbands CO is a stickler
I am glad you called them. Making an amended tax return should be simple. Then just request new copies, and you are good!
-
I filed Head of Household. I followed the IRS, and said he is non-resident alien, never been here, no income. Per the IRS, I was fine filing head of household. However, I do have children I claim as dependents. Donno if that makes a difference. And from what I understand, Head of Household is not necessarily filing single. I would not have checked the single box. Go online, or talk to the irs. We can all give you advice, but that is all it is. Ask a professional.

Hi everyone
Great thread here, and lots of useful information. Thanks to everyone and especially Saylin for compiling everything.
I received my NOA2 on 3/16 and NVC received it on 3/19. Called 10 minutes ago and spoke with Amanda from NVC. She told me they have not yet typed it in but it is there.
She said it takes between 10-20 business days and for an I-130 I am still in normal processing time. She told me to try and calling back next week (of course I will not wait that long)..but she was friendly. Hopefully I will have good news soon.
Yes, I got my NOA2 on March 9. I called NVC today, and still no case number! grrr....however, everyone I have talked to....male and female....have all been super nice to me. So, I will wait until Thursday, and call again. It will happen when it is supposed to....have patience and faith!

I am still waiting too. Called Monday, they put in a request to release invoice. I called yesterday, the request was there, said it takes 3-5 days. So, I'm checking daily.
