This is a very simple process and there is no need to worry. You have an approved application for one year. They want you to process as early as possible. MOST embassies will extend with out much problem. Most do it automatically. I have no personal information as to what your embassy generally does. I would think they would extend without much problem, especially in the condition your fiancé is in presently. Contact your embassy to ensure they will extend without fanfare.

Once you are extended DO NOT run out and book an interview. My god, wait until you know everything is ok with the baby and mom before you add more stress on her.

Thank you again @Greenbaum I just sent an email to the embassy for an extension let see what they will reply. I see you said to not run out and book an interview but I already did it like 3 weeks ago. The baby will be born most likely in 1 or 2 weeks. The VAC it is in 5 weeks from now. If any complications comes up I just reschedule the VAC and the interview.

@Greenbaum Do you think they can extend the expiration of the NOA2 approval? Because I just log in in the website to schedule interview and I can reschedule my interview for June 19 which is the last day of my NOA2 expiration but I don’t know if my girlfriend will be in good condition by June 19 because the birth my the baby. Right now I feel like if they tell me They can’t extend the NOA2 I will loose the this reschedule appointment. I don’t know what to do in this short of time.

  4. Hey @Greenbaum or anyone,

can somebody tell me what is the Email for the Dominican Republic , that I have to send the request for an Extension. I thought it was this email (domrepublic.uscis@dhs.gov) but I got a reply saying :

Thank you for your email. You have contacted the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Field Office in Santo Domingo.

Your case is currently with the Consular Section of the Embassy of the United States in Dominican Republic.

That's pretty good. They answered both questions. Q1 I believe that next week you should hear something. Just a guess.  Q2 They will go ahead and move your expiration date out 4 more months. Once you have your interview you can stop worrying about the NOA2 exp date as for al tense and purposes it's DEAD. Your next date is the visa expiration date where you have to be in the US before it expires.

Hey @Greenbaum I’m being reading this post and I didn’t know that the NOA2 is only valid for 4 months. My expire June 19. I schedule the vaccinations June 28 and the interview July 18. I did this because my girlfriend is about to give birth in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Like I said, I didn’t know about the NOA2 is only 4 months. What can I do now? Is there any way I can request an extension because my girlfriend pregnancy?

    Thank you

The issue is each embassy has a certain amount of slots for interviews. They open the "monthly" schedule when the previous month is full but not necessary right away. Your embassy is no exception. You have to wait and keep checking for open interview slots. Keep in mind that the visa has a validity of 6 months and it is based on the medical date. So if you do your medical now and you don't interview for another 3-4 months then you have burned through some valuable validity time. So buyer beware.

Thank you Greenbaum. I’m planing the medical by the end of June and the interview for July. Do You know if the monthly schedule is when a new month start or they open interview everyday? Do you recommend to keep checking everyday or every week?

Interview was today. we got denied. Consul said from the get go that we didn't have enough evidence [photos and chat logs]. With application, I sent 2 to 3 pics per trip...there were 7 trips between first in person meeting and time of filing. I also sent 17 double side pages of phone log/conversations spanning 14 months. Today, we also took pics of last 2 trips post filing and additional logs. She still said it wasnt enough. She asked some Qs and then sent us to another area where we both got interview separately...him longer than me. Of note, the mother of his two daughters and I have the same last name. The investigator asked me what was my relationship with her: I said none that I'm aware of. Later on, my fiance told me he was told it was too coincidental that both women share same last name. Investigator told me after all his questioning that he had proof that we were a fraud and that I was only doing him a favor and that as a US citizen with children I needed to think and tell the truth. I said I was very secure in my relationship with my fiance and to add to his previous questions of why we didn't get married sooner it was for that very same reason, we wanted to foment a relationship and ensure matrimony is what we wanted. So, he sent us back to consul who after another lengthy wait, told us he's ineligible for visa... reason listed in page: fraud, misrepresentation...

Speaking with my fiance on all the Qs, we provided same answers using similar/same exact responses.

Devastated....yeah...I'm boarding my flight back to NYC with an unexpected outcome. that's my sin for the day: I was sure it was gonna be an approval.

Oh my god so sorry that you got denied but fight for your case. @Greenbaum what can she do in her case?

The electronic version is sent to the embassy prior to the paper copy. The system is set up to set your CEAC status to ready when that process is complete. So many get a "ready" before their paper copy arrives. It has no affect on the interview. Now the "ball" is in your court to begin gathering the documents and completing the task's as outlined in your embassy's P3.

Yup, thank you. Can you send me the P3 one more time please. I’m going to set my interview for July.

  9. Hello guys, I have a question. My girlfriend is pregnant and I’m planing to do the interview after the baby is born. She is due in June. The question is I will claim the baby and I want to know what are the requirements to file for the US Passport while the baby is abroad and do I need to show ADN test to prove that the baby is mine?

@Greenbaum you are more knowledge. Will you know the requirement and if I need to prove ADN test?

    thanks in adavance

Just got email response to my ASK NVC email. I requested to update email addresses of both me and my fiance, and inform us our NVC case nr. The reply from ASK NVC only informed that they have updated our email addresses. But it didn´t mention anything about our NVC case nr. Is it only possible to ask 1 thing in the ASK NVC request?
I´m thinking, given they just now updated our email addresses I guess we didn´t make this shipment.
Fingers crossed for next shipment! 🤞 (Our NOA2 February 14)

You can ask anything via ask NVC, I ask NVC last week to update my email and to let me know if there is a case number and yesterday, they emailed me the Case number and they updated my email.

CRBA information is only so that you are aware if the birth takes place in her country. No need to start accumulating documents when this may not be needed. Do what do will do. The other information from the P3 is something that needs your attention. Good luck.

We decided that she give birth in our country because she has insurance over there.  And I will work with P3. Thank you again.

No worries; here is the link. Keep in mind this is for immigrant visas and form I-693, which k1 Visa applicants don't have to deal with until (if at all) AOS stage. Instead, K1 applicants receive DS-3025 filled out at the medical by the doctor.

    https://www.uscis.gov/news/questions-and-answers/vaccination-requirements

Here is an additional link geared towards K1 where you can see additional information on medical and vaccination requirements.

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/family-immigration/nonimmigrant-visa-for-a-fiance-k-1.html#7

    Hi Celie,

Thank you so much this is a great information I understand now how everything work. I have one more question, Do I have to let the embassy in my country that she will do the vaccines in USA?

  13. 2 minutes ago, celie&joseph said:

This is from the USCIS website.

Vaccines are required for all immigrants. However, the K1 Visa is considered a non-immigrant Visa since its latched to the promise to marry and AOS. Because of this, they don't require vaccinations at point of entry but you will be required to complete any missing vaccinations with a civil surgeon in the states during AOS stage.

    I hope that clarifies things.

Hi Celie Thank you. can you send me the link where you found that information

My understanding is that there is no requirement for her to have these vaccinations in order to come to America. They would be required after you were married and she applied for a change of status. Under the circumstances, I would wait and let her receive the vaccinations in the US

I’m going to double check because I think the vaccinations is required before the interview and before enter to USA.
