If states allow something, then that's what they want to do. Have the feds tried to make them stop it? Or are we against state's rights now? If they are ''leeching'' on charities, well, that's again what those charities are there for. If the charity wasn't interested in being 'leeched' off of, it wouldn't be set up.

It's not just the aging parents when it comes to healthcare, but any person coming over to the US. How many threads have we seen fiancé's and spouses get glazed over at the mention of healthcare, or just assume something will work?
I'm bothered at the prospect that the Securing America's Future Act (as mentioned in a different thread.. and maybe RAISE does similar) will bar the parent from working. I know a lot of parents probably wouldn't seek work, but there might be some that do. I know that if we ever tried to bring his parents over, they wouldn't be satisfied with sitting around not contributing in some way. We have a pretty terrible health insurance system, and the elderly often get left out of it. I'm not confident in developing anything better here...

Especially if I tell them I messed up and accidentally checked the Phillipines box, when I was right beside the Vietnam selection box...

Gotta love Pinays, eh?  Now she just rolls her eyes and says, "whatever".  But it seemed to work the first few times.

She still gets mad at me when someone asks how we met, and I tell them we never met, I picked her up from a mail order bride website...

When my wife gets sassy, I just remind her she has a cute sister who is a great cook and would love to come to the US.  A DX would be too easy.

In NYC, most people seem to think I'm fluent in Spanish based on my looks/color (I presume) so they do the "machine gun" talking as soon as they approach me...for some strange reason I can sort of understand bits and pieces of what they are saying to me but can't speak a lick of it back to them.

I did learn how to say "no habla espanol" as soon as they start speaking in Spanish, and then most often than not the person will suddenly switch to perfect English lol

There was one instance where a lady got offended when I said I didn't speak Spanish and gave me a stern lecture (in broken English) about how I "should learn to speak my mother tongue and teach it to (my) children!!!!" or else I'm "killing the culture!!!" ....my response to her was not all that nice, I'm afraid.

You reminded me of the torture of the humanities courses I had to take. Look, I enjoy learning about Greek philosophy but do I really have to write multiple  20+ page reports on it???

We even had a classmate that had a breakdown during a study session. True story! He went on a long rant about, "How the heck is this going to help me in real life!!!"

I believe that on the date of approval by the consular officer then the preference category must be current. I'm not 100% certain of that, so hopefully someone else can chime in.

Then unfortunately you would need to wait until it's current again.

Use the following calculator to determine the child's "CSPA age": http://www.**.com/immigrant-visa/cspa-calculator/
But from what you've said - yes. The child's CSPA age will be something in the ballpark of 20 years and 3 months. I would still contact the NVC and inform them that the child is turning 21 shortly, but still qualifies under the Child Status Protection Act to be counted as a child. This will hopefully hurry them up, because you are on a deadline here.
You have almost nine months from now to get the visa issued though, so should be ok.

This is not so so accurate information. Everyone going to consultants practice should be prepared to pay more that N10,000 for vaccination and other extras not mentioned anywhere, at their office.

Easy answer, the USA. If you were on the ground during the Subsidy protest then the answer would be clear to you too
Here in the USA, we have a well trained and professional Police force, that coupled with the fact that most citizens can legally buy a Gun then I'll take my chances here in the US.
In Nigeria I fear the Police with AK47 (not the thugs) and I can't avoid them, in the US I fear the gang members with AK47 (not the police) but I can avoid them.
