xtianj reacted to QueSera in Packaged finally approved
    Hello Sir/Ma
I was determined to post my experience on here as soon as i get my package approved and glory be to God, i was approved for my green card(i-485) on Sept. 1st, 2012 followed by my i-130 approval on Sept. 3rd, 2012.
    Here is my story....
Came into the country legally on an F-1 visa July, 2011. Got married to my long term girlfriend Jan, 2012 and filed my package the second week of Feb 2012, which included i-130, i-465 and i-765. I got my biometric appt in less than 3 weeks and then EAD took forever but finally came July, 2012. Our interview which was held on the August, 2012 was hell for my wife, though not for me. We got to the USCIS Office in Kansas City very early and after we were called in by the IO, he immediately separated me and my wife and asked to talk to me first. I was like damn, we both never expected it but whatever, i wasnt concerned cuz our marriage was real. After questioning me for what seemed to be like half an hour, the IO took my i-90 from my passport and then asked my wife to come in. Few mins into the interview, my wife walked out feeling very frustrated and angry. She said IO gave her hell in the room and that we should be expecting a denial/reference for more evidences. IO never even bothered to check our pix from the marriage but he sure asked me for the house keys..LOL !!! Anyways, me and my wife made up our minds and told our lawyer that whatever will be, will surely be. I continued praying every day for a miracle and thus, to my amazement, i got "Card Production Ordered" on the first week of Sept,2012. Prayers do work no doubt.
So far, its been a very hectic, time consuming and fearful journey but thank God, at least, ill be getting my card in the mail in some few days. I already got my welcome mail. All i can say is, this trend and many others helped me a lot during my ordeal and i just wanna say, thanks to you all for the wonderful experiences you shared on here. To future couples hoping to get their GC, just hang in there, take one step @ once and never lose hope. Gather as much information as possible and work with it. It does help to learn from other people...

It would give us more idea if OP had more detail on the situation. This is too short and might create bias comment.
First, we don't know how OP and kids treat her at home. Does she get respect as a step-mom? If she knew about your young kids before she decided to move here, then that shouldn't be her first intention to tell you to give up your kids.
If she doesn't get any respect plus she doesn't have any work, I think that could make her feel so down and want to go home.
May be OP should try to sort thing out between wife and kids?
Just want to see from another angle.
But if she just asked you to give up your kids for no reason, but to have her own, you should let her go.

I dont think your neighbor is a racist. She just doesnt like noise. I dont like those loud motorbikes too, but I just have to live with it, otherwise I would have to isolate myself in the wilderness if I could not tolerate them. :-) I have a 17 mons old baby. Sometimes, he wakes up in the middle of the night screaming for "baba" but Id rush to the windows and close it so he wont wake up the neighbors but I know there are times that even if the windows are close, the neighbors maybe still hear him. Im just probably lucky that our neighbors arent like yours. :-)
Btw, your baby is beautiful. If ur husband decides to accept a job offer in albany, and u want to make friends let me know. :-) wla me filipino friend dto. (Kung gusto mo lng hehe...:-) )

xtianj reacted to ONA in this is my resume
I spent 3 months looking for a job, although some of my American friends looked at my resume and helped changing it... I had some interviews, but not many... Then I read an article online, which explained how a person could change their resume, so it would stand out. I actually changed it according to the format mentioned in the article and I started getting more and more calls back! I actually got a pretty decent job a month ago and I absolutely love it!
So, I did the following to my resume:
    I listed my skills first;
Then I listed my work experience and instead of just listing the description of each position, I tried to mention my achievements at work and the contracts I worked on (i.e. I have some experience working as a freelance translator, so I mentioned which companies I worked with and what types of translations I did for them, then I have some content writing/translation experience, so I mentioned that some of my articles were chosen as the top story of the day/week etc.). I don't have a lot of work experience, so I listed my internships too (and it turned out to be very helpful).
And my education was the last thing I listed on my resume. If the first thing you mention on your resume is your education, HR managers might think that you are a recent graduate with no work experience.
Anyway, those little hints helped me. I hope they will help you too.

    Seriously.
The OP seems to know too much about this.
An advice to OP, how is your relationship with your SO, perhaps focus on that? Just a suggestion.
I once saw a friends Wife at a bar once with someone else and in unquestionable romantic situation. I instantly phoned my friend and told him what I am witnessing, right there and then from the bar. They are still married but it is not my place to judge, but to report instantly at a moments notice (if valid) and not to spend too much of my own time dwelling on it.
