Don't jump to your guns, the US did nothing for me yet, let alone "allow me" anything. So far I've been pumping money into it, and I will be doing so for quite a while before I am even entitled to start looking for a job.
And we will be moving someplace else, I will always be an European girl, the US is merely a stop that, hopefully, won't take more than 2 years. We will leave the US to those Mexicans that are so eager, my goal is Europe.

Thing is, my country workes better for me in other aspects than financially (and financially the biggest issue was that he was on a tourist visa, hence I was the sole bread winner and I didn't own my flat back then). Health care, far less violence, maternity leaves, free education, a job in the academia that I enjoy, the fact that I have my own flat - those are aspects that matter to me more than a couple of extra bucks. I don't feel blessed at all, quite the contrary, I am bracing myself for a huge depression. Going from having a job and my own place to jobless and paying rent isn't a blessing.
And seriously, there is no comparaison between me and the average illegal immigrant, I am not coming from a poor family/uneducated background.

I don't know what the OP's intention was, but, personally, I find it pretty insulting to hear Americans implying:
a) that their country is the best in the world,
b) that we are somewhat blessed to move over there.
Frankly, those points seem to imply there is more than feelings that's spurring us on.

How is she supposed to know how your house looks like? How do the officers know that anyway, to tell her she is wrong?
As to the family, I dont think I could describe them either, not to mention the fact that in the span of just some months, a child's hair colour went from blonde to pure dark.
