Congratulations! This is excellent news!
And an even bigger YAY to the adoption plans! It sounds absolutely wonderful. I wish you the best of luck in the next 2 years of being "immigration free" and spending time with your new child

I'm sorry I don't have any advice to give, but I am just so saddened to read about your case. You definitely do not need this stress right now, especially with a little one on the way.
I am sending all my thoughts and hopes out to you right now.

This is wonderful news to read about. I am extremely happy for you. Congrats and best of luck in your new sttress free life!

Don't worry about it. As people on this site have told me so many times over when I worry, USCIS knows that each person's case is different and not everyone will have the same evidence.
I think you're going to be just fine!
Your interview is the same day as mine! The dreaded February 15th
Here's hoping we'll both be reading one another's success stories, eh?
GOOD LUCK!

Glad to hear everything went well. Congrats!!

Congrats! Much more exciting than the anticipated junkmail, eh?

Good luck, like yourself, I'm going through Newark. I'm on the 28th on the dreaded 13th floor. Please give a detailed report when it's all over. Good luck and congrats.
Thanks missmariemc! I wish you lots of luck on your upcoming interview! I will of course write about my experience when I get home. I took 2 days off of work so we can either celebrate or come home crying and pack up to start the British side of immigration

hi all, our AOS interview is april 12th and i have a question. on the letter from uscis that has our AOS interview date on the checklist it states bring the sealed medical examination with you to the interview, am i right in thinking this is only if you had a RFE about the vaccination sheet, and needed to go to a civil surgeon? We never recieved a RFE and we only sent in our completed vaccination sheet from london. So does this part not apply to us?
thanks
I was in the same position and never got an RFE from the sheet we sent in from London. I assumed that it would be legitimate then. But then I decided just to be sure, I had better go and get the supplement done anyway. It was cheap and easy and worth it for the peace of mind.
Good luck!

I know I just posted, but I realized something that made me chuckle.
When we did our interview in London for the K-1 visa, they called you to window #13..which was scary.
Now I just looked at the address of where we have to be in Newark, and our interview is taking place on the 13th floor in room 1300.
...I think they are trying to frighten away the superstitious. USCIS sure knows their scare tactics!

Noone knows if it will be FINE or the Officer will fail you. You prepare your best, show up ontime or early. Bring all your have to prove your marriage is real and get a good night sleep!
Everyone you asked above, not one is in your control... Just know one thing, you did all you could possibly done to prepare for the interview, no more, no less. Do not lose your focus, this interview is not just about how in order is your paperworks, it's about everything you two have and do together for the past how many months since you two got married, so not having up to date is just another thing in the many things you should be very worried about, but why put yourself through it.... REST EASY! Come back and tell us how did it go!
I'm sure we'll be fine! I just thought it was worth asking in case anyone who's had their interview already and still comes back to this forum, had an issue where something they brought with them was not efficient. We shall give it our best!

I was feeling completely calm for weeks now, but I admit now that it is so close, I do feel nervous.
Dean and I are down to making photocopies now, and that's all we have left to get done.
The one thing I am nervous about is my 1-864, of which my aunt is a sponsor. She's really busy and involved with a lot of other stuff right now (her mother just died and she's dealing with buying the house back and juggling both her mother and father's estates and also help house us.) and didn't have time to pull out all her records and redo the affidavit of support. So our forms and documents for it are 8 months old now. I've called USCIS 3 times now and each time they have advised me that this is fine, so I can just bring in our photocopies of the old one.
But in the event that we get an officer at our interview who DOESN'T think this is fine, will we fail our interview or simply have approval pending until we send in some new forms?
I have been going along and telling everyone we will get an approval pending...but you know...I have 2 more days left and I am starting to worry a little.
Thanks for your help and wish us luck!
Oh and how early do you think we should show up at our interview? I hear that in Newark a line forms outside, and seeing as we just got over a foot of snow, I dread waiting outside with it!

Congrats Richard! We've come a long way from London!

My interview is next week as well and I assumed the supporting docs were everything you mentioned, ie birth certificates, marriage certificates etc.
GOOD LUCK!

I second the insurance thought: auto/life/health.
Wouldn't show the rejection letter: why parade around negative news?
Should take your drivers license(s), and maybe make copies.
Do you own anything joinly?... proof of this.
Otherwise, your list looks good!
No we don't have health or life insurance. We don't have car insurance because neither of us has a license.
We don't own anything jointly like a house or a car. We're pretty simple people and don't really clutter ourselves with outrageous possessions. We've got feet to walk with and family gracious enough to help us out and that's all we really need
The rejection letters aren't bad though. The letters state they only rejected him on the basis he's not a permanent resident yet. So that's not negative news, it's obvious news. And it's something to show that he lives at this address and is attempting to get cards with me and share our expenses in the future.
I think we'll be okay!

Completely unrelated to your interview post, but rather than getting a living will, consider fulfilling your estate planning needs by creating trusts. Living wills have SEVERAL loop holes that make them inefficient.
I havent done too much research on it, but if you stick "estate planning" in google, you'll find more than you'll ever want to know about living wills vs. trusts.
Oh yea, back to the immigration interview - dont forget to wear your wedding rings!! Good luck!
Thanks for the advice! I will look into what you said.
Anyone else with any input on my checklist?

Hello everyone. Our interview is approaching and I feel....oddly calm and confident.
We've pretty much gathered our last little bits of evidence. I wanted to know if we're forgetting anything crucial, or if anything should be changed.
The list:
- Dean's passport with I-94 in it.
- My passport
- Both our birth certificates
- Marriage certificate
- EAD card
- NOA's for AOS and EAD
- Photocopy of the I-864 and necessary documents we sent in along with our sponsor's passport
- Statements from our joint checking and savings account
- I-693 supplement from the civil surgeon (sealed in an envelope)
- The old DS-3025 Vaccination Supplement from the UK (in case they want it.)
- Letter from my aunt stating we live in her house and give her monthly rent.
- Letter from Dean's employer
- Pay stubs for both his old and new job
- Joint taxes filed for this year (this is the first year either of us has filed for taxes, so we don't have any others)
- Optimum online bill in both our names (covers phone, internet, and cable)
- A letter from our credit card company stating Dean is an authorized user on my card
- A magazine in both our names
- TV Guide in Dean's name (at our address)
- Various receipts from places like Amazon.com and Paypal that shows things being sent to our house for both of us.
- An album of 200 photos (wedding and various vacations together)
- Wedding and Christmas cards addressed to both of us.
- Plane tickets showing we travelled together.
- Bits of junk mail addressed to both from Bank of America
- REJECTION letters to Dean from credit card companies, saying that he doesn't have any credit for them to approve him. (But hey, it shows he tried AND it shows he lives at this address!)
- And MAYBE a living will, if we can get our act together and sort one out.
I feel like I am forgetting things, but this is what I remember. How do you think we've done?
What things are necessary to have photocopies of, or should I just photocopy the whole lot?

We got lots of touches after our Biometrics and our interview letter came within a month after we had the biometrics done. Hopefully it will be the same for you!
Good luck!
