  1. Our USCIS online status confuses me!

Our interview was on Feb. 15 and we got our approval stamp. For the next 6 days our online status showed that our case couldn't be found in the system.

On Feb. 21, our case status came back and said that on Feb. 21 after our case was approved, Dean's card was ordered.

Now on Feb. 24, it just says that our case was approved and our approval letter was mailed out today. But..shouldn't that message have been BEFORE the one about ordering our green card?

USCIS confuses me! So out of curiosity, do you think that means the welcome letter and green card were both mailed out in one lot? It seems most people always get them seperate.

I'm not worried or concerned over this, I am just curious and excited to get these fun treats in the mail and wanted to see if anyone ever gets them both at the same time!

  2. I am the USC and at the time my husband and I applied to have him come to the UK on a K-1, I was actually living in the UK with him and had been doing so for the past year. I put my home address in the States down as my current address, despite the fact that I actually wasn't living there at the time. This was not a problem, but I did include a note in one of my packets that explained my situation and that I was living abroad for the time being. This didn't seem to be a problem at all, and I would suggest letting them know as soon as you can.

I was also a student and hadn't worked a day of my life, so also had no income or taxes or anything at all to show them. My aunt was the cosponsor and they looked only at her documents and didn't bother with me, because of the situation. They were extremely understanding about that.

Good luck to you. I have every confidence you will be fine.

  3. I wouldn't worry so much about it. At least at the interview in the UK, so long as you have a cosponsor who has three years worth of tax returns, you should be fine. For instance, I am the USC and I was a student at the time and never filed for taxes in my entire life. So obviously on my end, I didn't have any taxes at all to show them. This was completely fine, as I brought in a lettr explaining my situation and also let them know that my cosponsor at least had her taxes. It was all fine. They questioned nothing.

I would supply what taxes you can, make sure your parents provide their taxes, and if they ask why you're missing one year's worth yourself, just explain it to them. They know everyone's situations are unique and different.

    Good luck!

  4. Yeah, the I-551 stamp will work. However, his PR status will need to be verified and he will have a higher chance of clearing SAVE with the I-551 card, so you might want to hold off until the card arrives.

Oh yeah we will definitely wait for his green card to arrive. I just wasn't sure if we could have that condition removed from his SS card on a 2 yr green card, or if he had to wait for his 10 year card to make the change.

    Thanks for your help!

  5. So now that Dean is approved with an I-551 stamp and we're waiting the arrival of his green card (the USCIS website says his card has now been ordered!), I was wondering about his SS card.

Is he now able to go and get a SS card with the "Valid for work only with DHS authorization" removed from it? Or does he have to officially have a 10 yr green card to have that removed?

    Thanks for any help!
