    Hi Everyone!

I just filled my online N-400 application based on the 5 year rule. The news that effective October 2nd the fees will increase 80% motivated me to submit everything now.

I wish everyone a smooth and successful journey!

Great thread, as we read thru it I will say the coffee drinkers have it rough. We finally bought a coffee pot and Jodie found it was easier than instant coffee. When we went back to visit my family in WVa my sister got her hooked on 8 O'clock coffee. It was actually cheaper then what she had been drinking.
This week she got her first experience of us driving to work with a tornado warning which she was not happy about. 2 hours later the university shut down and she had another fun ride as we drove around flooded streets trying to get home. After that is was a day with no power.
We rescued a dog last year as she had never had one and before she moved here she gave me grief as my last dog would sleep in the bed. She always thought that was disgusting but now every night she expects our Opie to get into bed with her.
For those moving to the US the first year I would say is the hardest. Your waiting to get all the right documents to really start your new life and sometimes the hoops you have to jump thru seem insane.
Depending on where you live you will find things that do compare to life in the UK and if you are lucky your local stores will have some staples. I suppose wherever you move there are growing pains and your move to the US will be no different. One suggestion for those of you that can now work, try a temp agency. They really helped Jodie get established with a work history and landed her in her current employer. Two years in it has been three promotions and an office with a window.
She also wanted me to add........ For you texas peeps.... "All hail whataburger".

Old UK VJ member here but it is the weekend and we decided to check in. As of August Jodie now has her 10 year green card and we made it through the process all by VJ. Never had a RFE and we are two green cards in and have never had an interview.
Now i just have to talk her into keep practicing driving........ At least she finally got her learners permit.

Why do people think they can just want to be rid of someone who has used them? I suppose that is the million dollar question. The fact that you think this is an American problem kinda amuses me. All of us US citizens here on VJ have met, or thought they have, the person they wanted to marry. Not all marriages work and we have all paid extra to make sure our loved ones are here. Why can't we ask how to make sure things are followed to the T?
I am more aggravated on reading post that when things go wrong all I see is " God Bless, Pray" and other BS. People are people, some will do anything to believe in unicorns and others will do anything to get to the land of unicorns.
There was a post earlier today where the US citizen was attacked by his wife and he mentioned the phrase "can I send her back" He even said later that it was a poor choice of words. He was looking for information on how to CYA. There is nothing wrong with that. It doesn't matter if it is a failed marriage, crappy marriage, fraud marriage, it can come from any country.
Everyone will find a way to deal with their own personal situation. I swear this site has seemed to turn into, at times, a marriage counseling site. Who cares how anyone deals with their marriage. When it comes to dealing with people caring about how to make sure they are following the law of immigration, whether it be coming here or making sure when things go bad, that's why they ask.
Maybe your next post should be " Irritated with American Attitudes when Dealing with Child Support" or "Irritated with American Attitudes when Filing Taxes" or if you're feeling brave "Irritated with American Attitudes when Dealing with Illegal Immigration"
