@ProbeGT @missads  thanks again for the wealth of information you guys shared!  I was able to sign my mom up with tax credits in NJ and can confirm that indeed you needed to be denied by medicaid (due to being a new immigrant) before being eligible for the PTC.  Atleast in NJ thats the process that needed to be followed and as already been pointed out the actual process can/will vary between states.  I'm still unclear what would happen after 5 years when one technically becomes eligible for Medicaid...

Has anyone gone through this process in VA and willing to share their steps/experience to get it done?  Thanks!

p.s: cross posting in both threads to reach more folks, apologize for the duplicate post!

Thanks!  FO was Norfolk, VA.  My mom's case was approved at NBC and don't think it ever made it to a FO as the interview was waived.   Good luck!

    Congratulations!

I am happy to report that we received my mom's green card in the mail today - 9/8/2021 (supposed to be delivered yesterday but somehow got delayed..).  Took 10 1/2 months start to finish - given everything going on not too bad at all!

I wish that all of your cases come to a successful conclusion soon as well! I'll check in on here once in a while.  Good Luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Finally I am able to share a worthwhile update for my mom's case - looks like both her EAD and AP were approved on 8/11, still waiting for the documents in the mail!  Just to recap her timeline:

    11/25/2020 - Applications received
7/1/2021 - Biometrics (got the notice after raising an expedite request for EAD)
8/11/2021 - EAD/AP approved (re-raised the expedite request for EAD on 7/6/2021, not sure if it had anything to do with the approval or not)

I-485/I-130 still showing the initial case received status - so unsure about the next steps but happy to have atleast gotten her EAD/AP approved!

Hope to see more positive updates from folks on here, good luck everyone!

Glad to see an update on your case!  Congrats!  When is the interview?  Are you still waiting on EAD/AP or did you receive it already?

8/17/21 - EAD/AP combo card received.  Hopefully SSN will soon follow!  Quick question - are there any folks whose I-485 status is stuck at Fingerprint fee received even after biometrics and EAD/AP approval?

Received biometrics appointment (Code 3) for my mom's cases yesterday in the mail - scheduled for 6/28, RD of 11/25/2020 so 7+ months!  I did raise an expedite request for I-765 on 5/25, not sure if it had anything to do with it but a couple of folks had also posted that it did help kick off their biometric appointments so its definitely worth a try!  Happy to finally see some progress!  Good luck everyone!

This is consistent with a couple of cases I saw on reddit.  Like you said, it "felt" like you did something and you have your biometrics appointment, it was worth it I would say! Hope this gets the ball rolling for you and go straight to interview/GC without needing to expedite again!

That's interesting!  I found some reports where the the expedite requests were officially closed stating the lack of biometrics and asking them to raise the expedite request again once biometrics was completed.  It did sometimes seem to trigger off the biometrics appointment though.  Now I recall, you are able to see your notices etc on your online account correct?  Most of us who 100% paper filed don't have that option!

Not sure if it'll make any difference but I put in a SR for I131 for being outside of normal processing times, figured no harm in trying!  I hope (& wish) more of us start getting biometrics letters soon!

Good to finally see some progress on here!  Maybe April will be month when all our cases start seeing some meaningful progress... we will all soon be eligible to open an SR some time during April as technically we will be outside of the normal processing times for AP!

I don't think this is accurate, if I am not mistaken the 60 day validity only applies if you get your medical done before you submit your AOS application.  If you get it done anytime after your AOS application is submitted it is valid for 2 years from that date.  So unless you have a reason to believe that your interview won't be within the next 2 years I see no harm in getting the I-693 done now at a leisurely pace rather than trying to rush it once the interview is scheduled.  My 2 cents based on my understanding, please verify it by yourself before taking any action. (We submitted my mom's I-693 with the initial packet along with all the forms)
