  1. Normally you would go to your local police station or the Commissionaires (they are sometimes faster and/or cheaper). For locations in Canada where RCMP are the local police, those people go there. If you have a criminal record they will need to do a fingerprint check through the RCMP. If not, you just need the Certificate to say the National database or CPIC was checked.

    Good luck!

  2. The 3 of us watched a movie called “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” just over a week ago. This guy went on a 60 day juice fast to reboot his system with macro nutrients from plant juice and managed to lose a bunch of weight and get his health under control and get off of all of the meds he was taking. At the end of the show hubby says “so when are we doing a reboot?”. Needless to say, we started a 5 day juice reboot on Saturday. Feeling amazingly well so far.

Went to Jacksonville CBP deferred inspection office on Friday. They could find no issue with our names at all. At least hubby wasn’t annoyed with the long drive that ended in futility.

The teen starts her new job tomorrow. Her security check went well I guess. I’m happy for her. Hopefully she’ll meet people her age to hang out with.

    Speaking of Cuy: http://www.startribune.com/local/blogs/220574041.html

I have an iPhone 5 and I love it. The teen was thinking of switching from her iPhone to some sort of android because everyone has iPhones and she wanted to be different. She decided against it because of the ease of use for the iPhone.

  3. For those that have commented about receiving a notice to send back their green cards - word of caution... ensure that it is actually a legitimate email from a legitimate source - i would recommend calling the USCIS or contacting the local office.

But, if it turns out to be legitimate - how far "wrong" was the date? days/weeks or years?

I received a 10 year card instead of a 2 year card. I checked the source code of the e-mail and it did come from a @uscis.dhs.gov server. It also came to an e-mail address that I don’t use for most mail (but did for all of my immigration) and my full name which has nothing at all to do with my e-mail address. Plus my daughter’s e-mail came to me as it had during the process. I never use my e-mail address for her - immigration was the one exception.

When I sent my reply e-mail in, the out of office auto-reply came from the Texas Service Centre. Always a good concern though when there are so many scammers out there. Safety first on the net right? smile.png

The people who have received the information I think did call the USCIS about what to do first. They received a 10 year green card instead of a 2 year green card.

I hadn’t called myself, I was following the “don’t borrow trouble” advice here on the forums and just Remove Conditions when it was required. However, I haven’t been reading the upper forums much at all, so I’m not sure how much people had been calling and it could be the calls that prompted the recall of all of the erroneous cards. I’m just hoping the e-mail is correct and the replacement will be in my hands speedily.

  4. Got the e-mails on how to return our green cards. It does claim they’ll have the new ones to us in a week though. Posted in the above forums to let others know what USCIS instructed. Hope I don’t get flack for it.

The teen got interviewed and hired for a job today and is very happy. The girl interviewing ahead of her did not get hired on the spot. The manager said she wanted to offer the teen a position before someone else snapped her up. Yay! dancin5hr.gif

  5. We received e-mails today with the above subject line. Here is the body with specific instruction for returning or exchanging the cards:

We regret to inform you that the Permanent Resident Card that you received has an incorrect expiration date. As a result, we need you to return your Permanent Resident Card and we will provide you with a new Permanent Resident Card with the correct expiration date.

    IMPORTANT NOTE

    1. Returning your Permanent Resident Card to USCIS to receive a replacement card does not affect your conditional permanent resident status;

    2. While you are waiting to receive or pick up your new Permanent Resident Card, the temporary I-551 stamp in your passport provides proof of your conditional permanent resident status in the United States;

    3. You will not be charged a fee to receive a new correct card; and

    4. You do not need to file a Form I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card, to receive your corrected Permanent Resident Card.

How to Obtain a New Permanent Resident Card with the Correct Expiration Date

We have identified you as having received a Permanent Resident Card with an incorrect expiration date. You have two options for how to exchange your card.

Please reply to this e-mail by DATE to let us know which option you prefer to use to exchange your Permanent Resident Card:

    1. Exchange your Permanent Resident Card by mail. This is the fastest processing option and you should receive your new card within 5-7 days after we receive your current card. Please confirm your current mailing address when you reply to this e-mail. We will then provide you with the address of where you need to mail your card. We encourage you to return your card to the address provided by USCIS as soon as possible. If you want to ensure that USCIS has received your incorrect card, please mail the card by certified mail or another type of mail that will allow you to confirm delivery to USCIS in a timely fashion. Upon receipt of your current card, USCIS will issue you a new card and send it to your current mailing address.

    2. Exchange your Permanent Resident Card in person. If you choose not to receive your new card by mail, USCIS can send your new card to an Application Support Center (ASC) for you to pick up in person. This option will take longer because it requires USCIS to pre-package and sort cards for distribution to ASCs. You will need to bring your current Permanent Resident Card and proof of identity to the ASC when you pick up your new card. To ensure that your new card is sent to your designated ASC, please confirm your address when replying to this e-mail. We will provide you with additional instructions by e-mail once your card is ready to be picked up.

We regret this inconvenience and appreciate your quick attention in order to provide you with your new card. Please do not hesitate to contact us atreplacecard@uscis.dhs.gov if you have any additional questions.

I’ll probably go for the mail in method as USCIS is a couple of hours away. Thought I’d post this for the others who have gotten the incorrect cards as well. Good luck all!

  6. I sent it to my bank back in Canada (RBC) with my account number on it and they put it in. Then I transferred it over to my RBC USA. My joint account with hubs wanted me to send it to their main office so they could put it in and it would take like a month.

Thanks. TD down here was telling me the same thing 4-6 weeks to deposit my cheque and have it clear.

Probably tried to get it mailed up tomorrow. The sooner it gets to Canada the better. :)

  7. now, in Canada. You would reply to NLR in this manner.....

"Oh dear, outta coffee...I'll stop by the Tim Hortons on my way home and get you some"

In the NY Metro area, the proper reply is.....

"yo B, git yo lazy azz off the couch and go git some ma-fargin cawffee.....you sona ma beach"

Timmies…we don’t use the full name.

And generally we “stop by Timmies to pick up a double-double"

  8. I thought ham hock eating hillbillies were in PA, WV and TN?

    Down lower you gets Crackers.

Even lower yet is snow bird land.

Indeed! Looking forward to seeing some snowbirds who I can understand and understand me. :)

Why are there so many cars here from Ohio? Seems like an infestation.

  9. I dated a woman from NS (here in NY).... her family liked me, but wanted me to immigrate......And, I wasn't going to NS to freeze my nads off smile.png

things/ people are kinda slow up there biggrin.png

NS gets an incredible amount of snow and with it an stupid amount of power outages. For days on end. I couldn’t live with either.

may be I'll take my daughter fishing at the dock later....they love her over there. She's like a little clown, going from boat to boat looking for a handout of snacks......

They've nicknamed her "The Pirate Captain"

    She’s a charmer. :)

  10. This is my favorite with quinoa so far:

I have yet to cook it with white wine, though. So this might fall into second.

That looks tasty and the Mexican skillet sounds yummy.

The teen will not eat anything that swam or lived in the ocean but I’m going to take a seafood/fish cooking lesson anyways.

I like cooking my quinoa with vegetable broth and spices instead of water. It’s adds dimension to the dishes I think. I’ve even tried a bit of orange juice in with the water.

  11. Also, Why was everyone trashing PA a few pages back?? I really like it here..

And where are Oopartiv and KDH??

    Also missing Nola :(

and Deb is rarely making an appearance on this thread anymore. I hope it’s because she’s busy working and having a wonderful life.

  12. My wife and I can always see where each other is unless we turn our phones off or have no signal. We both have iPhones, I the 4S and she the 4. We also have an old 3GS in case one dies, we can quickly switch to the old one. The find iPhone app is really good, although it was better before they switched to their own map application.

I was just looking at that one for my wife. How do you like it. Cheap is good because I doubt she's going to use it much. I'm just worried if it can get adjusted down to her height.

No complaints. The teen’s friend rode it for the two weeks she was here and just adored the seat and the fact that the pedals didn’t have toe clips. (She’s a triathlete).

Hubby is going to buy the same one but in men’s his next paycheque.
