  1. My passport, interview letter, photocopies of all the already submitted documents and my smile! I'm also bringing flight confirmations and boarding passes as I have an overstay of less than 180 days that they might mention.

Hehe, yes, I forgot to write my passport and interview letter... and those are the most important ones :bonk:

Allegra, I'm sure your husband will be fine! You will get to bring him home with you for sure

Nickky, I'm bringing too much too, but I'm not taking any chances. Better safe than sorry in this case :D

  2. 60 hours to go!! I'm a little nervous to be honest. I don't like that this week is all about worrying that everything's going to go wrong. I want to be enjoying being close to the end, but I can't!

I so agree with you! I want to be happy and excited, but I can't relax until I know I have the visa. The sane part of me is telling me everything will be fine, but I'm also coming up with new things that can go wrong all the time :bonk:

What are you bringing to the interview? I guess we need stamps and passport photos. I'm bringing some pictures and stuff and copies of the forms we've sent in, plus my husbands IRS transcripts and last paystub. Don't know what else I should bring....

  3. Today my interview is exactely 2 weeks away. I am anxious and excited, and trying to keep thoughts of the worst case scenarios at bay... I'm way too good at picturing the worst even when there is no reason to :bonk:

I figured I could start this thread so that we could vent and share our waiting time :) How are you all doing?

I know I can't wait for all of this to be over. My biggest wish is to celebrate Christmas knowing I have my visa in hand and that I'll be celebrating New years in the States.

I have my fingers crossed for all the VJ members who have their interviews in December. Hopefully we'll all get good news!

  4. I had my medical today and it went well! Just thought I should post my experience here to help other Norwegians in the future.

I set up an appointment by emailing the doctor's office at info@emigrationmedical.com. Marianne, the nurse, is very helpful and gets back to you in 1 to 2 days. The doctor's office is at Ulleval Stadion. You can take the subway from the central train station. The office is on the third floor of Sognsveien 75 F. I had my x-rays taken a week before at Unilabs and the blood test at my fastlege. I brought the result from the x-rays to the doctor myself while my fastlege sent the blood sample to the lab at Ulleval hospital. I didn't have to take ani vaccines since I already had them all. I know the list of vaccines is long on the NVC website, but you don't need them all, it depends on your age. They were only concerned about the MMR and tetanus, and whether or not I had had varicella. I actually scanned a copy of my vaccination records and emailed it ahead of the appointment. That's a good way to find out if you need to get any vaccines.

When I got there I waited for maybe 20 minutes before the nurse came and got me. She had me fill out a medical history form. It asked questions about any medical conditions. I also had to give a urine sample. This took about 15 minutes. Afterwards I waited for about 30 minutes to see the doctor. He was very nice and relaxed. I had to do a quick eye sight test since I wear contacts. He listened to my heart and lungs and tested some basic reflexes. He also felt my stomach. The whole exam took about 15 minutes and was very easy. I did not have to take all my clothes off and be scrutinized. They said they would probably send my results to the embassy tomorrow since everything was in order. They also send you a letter saying they have sent the results, so you know and don't have to worry :)

I'm happy I have one less thing to worry about now, and I can focus on the interview, which is four weeks away, yikes!

  5. I had my interview in London this morning and was approved! It was all very straightforward.

Trevor is going to come over here in a couple of weeks and we are going to spend some time with our families before I fly back with him on 4th December. Thanks to everyone who contributes their time, knowledge and wisdom to this site - it has been an amazing resource for both information and support.

    Congratulations!!!!

  6. No I did not. My husband has been living with me in sweden since december but he is not a resident, he is here on an extended visitors visa and therefore we could not do direct consular filing. Im sure ur interview will go well, they were all so friendly and helpfull! Now I feel kinda stupid for worrying so much =) Just bring stamps and make sure u stay in the immigration line =) Also, taking the bus to the embassy is a good idea. Takes about 10 minutes from stockholm centralstation and stops right outside of the embassy. So taxi is very unnecessary.

Ok, thanks for the info! That's very helpful :) Hehe, I probably worry about it too much too  Do you by any chance know the bus number?

  7. CONGRATS GIRLFRIEND!!!!!! OMG HOW EXCITING IS THIS ALL!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH :D

    Thank you!! :D

By the way, for anyone wondering: I called the operator last night to ask about changing the date - she said that once the file is forwarded to the Embassy, you can re-schedule with them. The NVC just makes the 1st appointment and after that, the Embassy takes care of your case starting from now on.

I don't know if any one has tried this yet, but I wanted to give a heads up in case anyone was thinking about doing this.

I called to ask because, Hadrien, wanted to spend X-Mas with us in LA so I thought, hey, why not give it a shot - even though, selfishly, I am ECSTATIC his interview date fell right in the middle of Christmas break. It means I can take time off work, go to Paris, spend x-mas with my grand-parents, uncles, aunts and cousins, I can see my friends, we can throw a huge good-bye party for Hadrien, then I bring him back with me and help him take his stuff in the plane.....yes, I created a huge fantasy-land world in my head right now.

p.s. I feel like we all made Saylin super proud by getting our interview dates. Let us all give her a round of applause for being so helpful and encouraging. (F)

p.p.s. Looking forward to hearing good news from the rest of you this week and next!!!! LETS DO THIS!

I have my own fantasy world going too  mine is flying out right after x-mas and spending New Years in the U.S. I'm so excited but also working on getting nervous for the interview!!! It's gonna be a long time being nervous for a month and a half

Loud applause for Saylin who always answers everyone's questions and is extremely helpful!!

I have my fingers crossed for all of you that are still waiting. I hope you all get good news this week or next
