1st n foremost, she has to show she has a strong tie in Nigeria.tourist visa is hard to obtain in Lagos.
Since your husband isnt a citizen yet and his sister is just visiting, the CO in lagos is always adamant to issue visa.she might wait for months to ve an appointment date.
Letter from her place of work
Consent from her husband if married
If available Pics
But the embassy hardly looks at docs

Nigeria is the hardest place to get a visitors visa from. The assumption from all places is that you are trying to get to the US to overstay and you must convince them otherwise. For the conventions for my husbands tribe the invited speakers include government officials, doctors, teachers, nollywood stars and 90% get denied for "lack of sufficient ties" . If these people have troubles you can imagine what you face. Gather the best proofs that she will return and don't buy a ticket until the visa is in hand.

It is sad to hear about your friend. How big of a crime he commited for them to send to jail for 5 years. I still do not beleive they send him to jail for 5 years for hiring illegals when there are 12+ mil illegals working here.

Submit your evidence of fraud to ICE, divorce, and move on. Let him sort out his path through USCIS on his own.
No need to continue the stress in your life if you believe that the marriage is failed/fraudulent.

jenkatx got a reaction from nigerwife in So has anyone considered moving to Africa instead of living here in America
First of all The Island is safe for whites however, if you do research you will see that the cost of living is about 200,000 for a family of four to live to our standards here. Yes that is UDS not Naira. That being said, Nigeria as you know, is an emerging market. There is so much money to be made there & there are new US based companies moving over all the time. FINALLY, people are realizing that Nigeria is not just full of scammers (lets pass the word on to other VJrs please). It depends on you and what field you are looking in. Also, I would check into Ikeja for housing.
Eventually we will be moving to Imo State and I do fell safe there. As long as you do your research and find a good doctor ahead of time you should be ok. It really depends on the state you choose & how adventuresome you are. Some are not near as safe. I do worry that after awhile the novelty would wear off, but as long as you can afford to go back home frequently I bet you would love it.

Your view is rather short sided in my opinion. What about the genuine couples that are on AP or have been denied who are reading this? Do you not see that your words are hurtful to them? As PammyW said the last member that came on here boasting was denied. AND if you think your going to get any Lagos CO to set down with you to hear your side of the story then it is only because you have no experience. If you are lucky then they will ask you questions and truly listen to you. Often they don't even bother to look at the proof that we bring, many times they know the answer before you even cross the doorstep. Come back and talk to us after you have seen the inside. I do pray that you will be successful but think about what your saying before you speak here.

The problem is that the OP is going through what is arguably the toughest consult in the world to get an approval from. You're comparing apples to oranges.

I have seen what can happen to real couples in Nigeria. You can be prepared to the upmost, you can have done your prayer, you can have pounds of phone records and pictures with family and friends and still be denied. You can then return to VJ and have the oversure post that real couples will pass their first attempt. I know there are many fellow Lagos couples between their first and second attempts and those words are a jab in the side of these people. It still bothers me and I am past that and getting our papers stacked up for ROC then on to him getting his USC. Lsgos was so terrible for me I have stayed around and tried to make sure as many couples don't fall into the trap of being too sure or simply doing the minimum and not having enough for Lagos. I may be a bit blunt but if it keeps even one couple from having to do a second petition then I have done what I have set out to do.

I am not saying that at all at all, please dont twist this.....I am speaking specifically to your case...and I am simply saying that YES it's good to be confident...I am also confident, but to go around saying "I know I will be APPROVED, I will be APPROVED" is setting yourself up to look foolish....keep it close to you so when it happens then you can SCREAM IT TO THE WORLD....becuase there is ALWAYS a chance it might not so then you have now made yourself look silly...believe me im rooting for all the genuine relationships. Anyways declare it and keep it close to you then when it happens you can now tell the world....But seems you have your own way of doing things and thats fine.
Wonders shall never end.....Me selfish? LOL...If you only knew....Look at yourself very well my dear someone who has no timeline and who has been "secretly reading several posts..while going thru my visa petition", and who's only post on VJ has been to tell the whole world that he will be "APPROVED". Abeg, im not here to fight with anyone....I have said my own and I stand by it....Like I said before May God Bless your journey...

I have to say that Prayer Works. What God has for you no man can take or break! I don' t do negativity..at all. Lagos like every other consulate is set up to give visa's or not to give visa's. What I hate about this process is the fact that mere humans sit in judgement of others. But.. according to what they say it's to weed out the scammers...okay right. I could say that the officer that interviews you could be having a bad day and ask questions that don't have anything to do with being married at all or decide that you don't look good together and deny you. Who's to say what the reason maybe that you'd get a RFE.. I got one.. yep sure did. I'd sent them a birth certificate they sent a request for a new one.. I sent it and that was that. Who's to say why you would be in AP.. surely not because you have not prayed about it. Or that you didn't belive that God would see you throught the process. There are forces in this life that we will never understand and it hurts when things go wrong. It's our ability to keep going .. our ability to keep the Faith.. our abilty to keep praying, keeping God first and our ability to stand hand in hand with one another when things do go wrong. To encourage eachother, to allow eachother to vent and to push eachother passed the breaking poing. This process has to be continuously prayed over and over. Yes we all have experienced the crazyness of USCIS and NVC. Yes marriages have been bonafide and real yet doubted for more proof. Is it fair.. NO!!!!! Blame the ones that have married for criminal reasons..like getting money. They have made it hard for all of us that are doing this for love. I pray for everyone still trying to get the Visa they deserve and for thoes that are going through the storm... I'm praying for you as well. As for the person who posted this...keep praying don't don't let anyone or the process discourage you. There is always HOPE!

Immedaitely after Josephs denial his father passed and he was needed as the eldest son to manage the funeral of the igwe. For those familiar with such events you all know that he would not have been able to do that from the US. So yes there was a "reason" behind it.
During my years on VJ I have seen the scammers are the most self assured at getting a visa the first time because they see themselves as untouchable and smarter than everyone.

I very rarely get on VJ these days or even post, but I feel compelled to say something. I pray for a first time approval for you, because being denied or having a lengthy AP is something that I wouldn't want anyone to go through. Many real relationships where both parties are Christians and have prayed, fasted, etc. have ended up in denial or AP. Sometimes it is not the right time because there are still lessons to be learned. I remember one poster was boasting about the genuiness of their relationship, their faith and knowing that they were going to get approved, sadly enough they got denied. They were not even placed on AP. I learned a life lesson about patience and that it is all in the Masters hand and in his timing (i.e my thoughts are not His thoughts, my ways are not His ways). May you get your approval the first time around and share your experience with everyone.

My husband spends hours each day in prayer and our relationship is 100% real but that didn't stop the evil of Lagos from trying to deny us. Beware of being over confident Pride goes before a fall.

The short reason why is that the older white woman with a younger man fits a common fraud profile from that region. Do some reading and be prepared.
Remember that the strongest evidence of a bona fide relationship is the time you spend together in person. If you have multiple visits, great. Make them as long as you possibly can, even if it is inconvenient.

Really the point is simply that racism is no longer tolerated or welcome in our country. If I say black joke is it funny? What about a hispanic joke? So why is it ok to joke about someones Nationality? It is simply not acceptable in today's society. Whatever your negative view of any particular country or race is, keep it to yourself, because you will offend even the most relaxed people. This is 2011, not 1960, such things are simply not okay any longer. Would you say such things to a Nigerian in person? I doubt it, so why would you say it on a public forum?

The difference here is that Chris Rock is black; Alex Raymondo is Hispanic; and Jeff Foxworthy is proudly a redneck. Just like it is ok for Americans to talk bad about our country (but God help anyone else who does), it is ok for other nationalities to talk bad about their own country (but God help anyone else who does). As an American-Nigerian, I find the previous remarks hurtful & distasteful. I personally an tired of people on this board talking down to those of us who are with Nigerians or are Nigerian. I would never dream of saying negative things about your country, I haven't even been there. Have you been to Nigeria? I am tired of people thinking it is acceptable to bash my other country, because there are a few bad apples in the bushel. There are a few bad apples in every bushel. No one said you are racist, I said your wrong for bashing a whole country because of a few bad people. In my eyes that is the third cousin to racism. A distant cousin, but a cousin none the less.
