One more thing that happens in London. Not the first time I've seen this http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/329258-wrong-passport-number-on-visa/
Not to get off topic but does anyone have a link for the current costs of the passport delivery from London?
I did have it somewhere but I can't find it.
Thank you

So, our packet three still hasn't been logged. It will be 4 weeks since delivery confirmation next Tuesday.
My fiance finally called the embassy - and they said the normal processing time to log packet three is 4 weeks. I find this insane, but, whatever! So - they will not give him an email code until the 4 week mark (next Tuesday). So we are still waiting.
My congresswoman emailed the Embassy this past Tuesday, but I'm assuming she hasn't heard back from them, as I haven't heard from her.
So - we continue to wait. If it is not logged by next week, and we have to resubmit our packet 3, how do we guarantee this one gets there and gets logged? We had deliver/signature confirmation this time as people suggested. I just feel like we (possibly) wasted four weeks just to have our packet logged...I don't want to waste another 4 weeks next time.
Has anybody had to resubmit their packet three? If so - did things go faster the second time around??
Like I've said. You are in exactly the situation I was in but we waited 6 weeks before resubmitting Packet 3 and calling the Embassay on the same day to get the email code, we then emailed them and got a reply in 3 days with an interview date.
I understand how distressing it is not being able to find out anything and just having to wait and wait.
In my opinion this whole process is terrible, the lack of information available is awful, they should put in place someway for us to check our status online which would save alot of heartache and worry.
All I can say is hang in there until you can get the email code and things should move quickly from there. Stay strong and positive.

So - as of today our packet three is still not logged. It will be 3 weeks on Tuesday since we have confirmation of receipt!
I spoke to my congresswoman on Wednesday. She said she spoke to a "contact" at DOS and told her to wait until the 3 week mark and if we still haven't been logged to email the embassy. So, she will be emailing London on Tuesday to see what's up.
My question: If they cannot find our packet three, which seems to be happening quite a bit lately, what are our next steps? How do we insure that the next time we send it (we will send it out asap once we have notice that they do not have it) that it will not get lost AGAIN?! Also - does this mean that we have to wait another 2-3 weeks for them to log it?
Seriously, I'm just worried at this point that they will lose it AGAIN...
I just feel so frustrated that it's even a possibility that they could have lost it the first time...
I honestly don't think it's "lost", It just seems London are taking this amount of time to get interview dates out recently (myself included) I wouldn't panic too much.
Get the email code and hang in there.

Micmac, have you heard anything from the embassy yet? Just keep buggging the dos and they will update you. It varies on who you speak to, some will tell you there is no info, some will tell you specifically whether your case has been received and is pending or not. Got my packet 4 this morning, its all seeming real now
"Got my packet 4 this morning, its all seeming real now."
Excellent News!!
Congratulations & Good Luck

good to know, thank you very much. Now I just really hope that she can get her interview soon. I left England a while ago and our separation seems like it's been a lifetime.

POE TODAY! AHH so nervous!
Enjoy yourself Jingo!!! Now the fun can begin
Safe journey xxx

We are buying a two way ticket too! And when he gets here we will call the airline and tell them he is staying longer and to give us an open ended ticket.. usually like $150.00 charge... then we can go back to visit next summer
Great idea, I may even look into doing that also.
-
I read somewhere that buying a two way ticket and not travelling on the return is in 'violation' of airline ticket rules. This made me a bit nervous as of course if its cheaper you are going to buy a return rather than a one way!!! I am planning on doing the same myself but maybe keep quiet and don't mention to the people who are checking you in that you are in fact moving to the US and not planning on returning!
?? Customs will know you're not planning on returning when you have to show them your K1/Visa packet. So im not sure what you mean by that.
Plus, on my previous visits to USA they have always checked my return date and stamped it in my passport upon arrival there...
Not sure about the ticket violation rule.

My fiancé is preparing to buy his last ticket here upon his visa approval, and we've discovered that a one-way ticket is about $300 more than a two-way ticket, confusingly enough. We were thinking it would be a good idea to just buy a 2-way ticket and not use the return ticket, since it's cheaper. I wondered if the immigration folks at his point-of-entry are going to raise an eyebrow if he enters with a fiancé visa but has a two-way ticket. Will this be an issue?
I wouldn't think so if you just explain the reason. Im planning on doing the same myself.
As long as you make sure to cancel the return flight with the airline after his arrival.

Just wondered if anyone has any info regarding case log times. Had my medical on the 11th, was received at the embassy on the 14th and my packet 3 should have reached the embassy the same week. Any ideas how long it will be until I receive an interview date?
Hi, you can check my timeline, I think it was around 6/7 weeks from packet 3 until packet 4. Interview is about 4 weeks from receipt of Packet 4.
-
You can probably get from Kings Cross station to the embassy in 45 minutes.
Rather, this is definitely do-able but it will depend on how quick you are and if there a long queue when you get there. What time is your appointment?
Heya jing, appointment's at 9am.
-
I've read on a number of posts that I should be at the Embassy an hour before my interview appointment.
My dilema is that I've been looking for trains and the earliest one I can get will get me to Kings Cross 45 minutes before my interview at 9am. Otherwise it will mean I have to take an overnight bus/coach that will arrive at Victoria Coach Station at 7.30am.
My question is, how important is it that I be outside the Embassy an hour before my Interview Appointment.
Thank you VJ'ers.

Rich had his interview this morning in London and was approved!!
Now we wait for his passport, which they said he should get either Friday or Monday...
Then it's so long UK and hello USA!!!!!
Excellent news. Another Approval from London.
Best wishes to you both on the rest of your journey.

Today I attempted to get a lot of paperwork shifted out of the way and preparing to send of my P3. I called this morning and booked my Medical for next Wednesday at 2.30.
On my ACPO it says 'No Live Trace' - I called the number on the paperwork and they informed me of dates, offense and reprimand/caution outcome. My fiance said I should apply via the Freedom of Information Act and get official documents to take to the interview with me.
(Offenses were 2 occasions of 'Damage to property to the value of less than five thousand pounds')
The gentleman I originally got the information of told me that they are minor offenses and a while ago, that if I just give the Embassy the correct dates and the official 'offense name' that I will be ok with just that.
As I said my fiance wants paperwork for every eventuality, I printed off the application for the data today and it states on it 'Not to be used in conjunction with Immigration to the United States"
Shall I go with what the Officer told me, or apply anyway?
Secondly, I suffered depression for quite some time. I am no longer medicated. I believe myself to be of sound mind and body, nothing wrong with me. I called my doctors to arrange an appointment to discuss getting a letter stating that I am fine and not on any medication. The receptionist informed me that they "Don't get involved with Immigration in an way"....! How would I go about getting a letter to present if needed? Is it really necessary to have one? Is it important for the Medical, or the interview or only for AoS?
Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated
-Sarah
Hi sarah,
with regard to your depression. I am currently medicated for depression and anxiety and have been for a number of years, all of which was disclosed at my medical examination and on my questionnaire.
Before attending my medical, I called and asked my Doctor to write a "Statement of Fact" about my diagnosis and current condition etc. It cost around £30 and was accept by the Doctor at my medical in Knightsbridge.
It is very important for the medical. The Doctor at my medical did tell me "i will need a letter faxed from your doctor about your depression and anxiety" but I already had it ready to give her.
Hope this is helpful to you.

WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH, YESSSSSSS, I AM HOME!!!!
It's such a good feeling that it's almost ridiculous
After a long "bottom" flight from Amsterdam to Iceland, Iceland to JFK, JFk to Pittsburgh, I am finally home. As you can see, JFK was my POE. During my flights I was soooooo nervous, but I learned that as soon as I was questioned by the Officer, my confidence showed up
Our plane landed as first from other International flights, so there was no line
. The woman said I can choose one Officer and I walked to a desk with a guy that seemed very nice to me, lol! And he was. I told him that I am a K1 and showed him my Visa. He asked for the big envelope and he looked thru it and put some stamps in it. He then asked me to follow him to an Immigration Officer.
I had to sit down and wait for them to call my name, thank goodness I was the only one there so I waited for like 5-10 min or so.
The Officer called my name and started to ask questions:
OFFICER: Your access got denied May 2010, why?!
ME: I explained that I travelled to the US before that time and never had to show anything, and that time I didn't bring any proof either.
OFFICER: So that's the only reason why your access got denied?
ME: I told him that I wasn't honest about my relationship with Aaron that time. I said that he was friend, instead of, at that time, my boyfriend
OFFICER: Have you met him before your access got denied?
ME: I told him: like I said earlier, I've been to the US before to meet him. So yes!
OFFICER: At that time, was it your intention to marry him?
ME: I said no, if I really wanted to marry him on a B2 Visa, I would have married him during one of my visits.
OFFICER: Good answer.
OFFICER: So, during the time you were working at this company?
ME: Yes
OFFICER: What does your fiance do for a living?!
ME: I told him what my fiance is doing for a living
OFFICER: Is this the address you are going to stay, and is it Aaron's address?
ME: YES
OFFICER: Who decided to get married, you or Aaron?
ME: I told the Officer that we BOTH decided to get married
OFFICER: Very good answer
OFFICER: You know you need to get married within 90 days, right?
ME: I told him that we are going to get married by the end of this month.
OFFICER: You are all settled, and good luck and welcome in the USA
It all took +/- 20 min (included the waiting)
So, I can say it was a breeze!
I WOULD LIKE TO THANK EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU WHO HELPED ME WHENEVER I NEEDED HELP!
It has been a long, sometimes rough, year. But it was WORHT IT!!!!
Now, I am HOME
with the
of my life!!
Wonderfull news!! Now the fun begins after your long wait, you have alot to catch up!!
Best Wishes to you both and congratulations.

Best answer!!
The problem here may be the timeline says the forms were sent to London 17 days before the wedding date. They can't accomodate you that much if all the slots are filled.
My first Packet 3 was sent 25th June, that's 2 months notice. It was allegedly "not received" (although it was signed for on the 29th June) until I posted my 2nd response this Monday, which arrived there on Tuesday and I was assigned an interview date on Wednesday....so it probably wasn't lost in the first instance...
-
I would book one but knowing my luck things will be slow! I am planning on booking when we get the interview date. I don't want to lose deposits or anything especially if wedding/travel plans give you no benefit in the visa process. I don't think the government websites are very helpful at all.
I stated an "unofficial wedding date" on my cover letter with Packet 3 of 26th August. My interview date is 16th September so I guess without proof of anything solid arranged/booked, that it doesnt make much difference.
-
That's how I was. I wanted to write and get a closer date but after a lot of thought decided it was best not to. I'm actually glad I didn't because a package of stuff I sent him that he needs for his interview vanished in the mail... If it isn't there by Monday I have to send it again and pray it arrives by the 23rd because his interview is the 24th!
Oh dear. We've had a few things go missing in the post also. First it was the original receipt for my ring and then my packet 3 to London.
I would send him all the documents again today, just to be on the safe side and keep your mind at ease.
-
Thats better Sunshine, no harm in trying but they might not give you a sooner date or even respond because as Nich-Nick said, there are a lot of people who get expedited due to very urgent reasons.
Decided not to bother and just stick with the date they gave us.
