  1. I am a USC and will be applying for my wife who is in Pakistan. I have been reading a lot lately on this forum and appreciate all the info.

To make a long short story short, its an arranged marriage. Our parents want to do the Nikkah first but they want to do the mehndi, baraat, rukhsti etc six months later. As anyone from Pakistan would know, Nikkah is the actual marriage but since we are not doing the Rukhsati right now, me and my wife will not be living together until six months after the nikkah. My question is that should I go ahead and apply for her right away after nikkah or wait another six months and apply after we have lived together for some time.

My parents want me to file after Nikkah. If I do so what would be my answer to Q#21 on I130 which asks "If filing for husband/wife, give last address at which you lived together"

i never lived with my spouse (who is indonesian). We married, and i filed the I-130 as soon as we have Buku Nikah. I dont know anything specifically about pakistan that might change this answer, but you should be able to file the I-130. Perhaps someone from pakistan will drop by and answer soon.

  2. Yes, if you filed MFJ with a W7 attached, then they want that as well. You have to send NVC the ENTIRE tax return package. Imagine they're the IRS if that helps. Whatever you sent to the IRS, you have to send to NVC (but just a copy instead).

just back from post office....i sent an entire copy of IRS stuff, incl, copy of handwritten letter by wife to be incl on tax year 2011, W7, notarized passport pages, and i even sent a copy of the envelope with the IRS address :P

maybe that will satisfy these people.... (i hope).

    thanks for help!

  3. My love is here at home. Arrived this morning. This is our home together and will miss "home" in Philippines till we return. She is now sleeping like a baby! I feel so much relaxed and better after finally napping also after the time and energy this journey has drained me. I think we will be up all night till break of dawn! I am sure she will post more of her travels soon. Thank you everyone and friends we made on here and our journey.

    Grats!!

  4. I recently read some posts here on VJ that it is possible to add your spouse to your bank account(even though if he or she is not in the United States), which can be used as bona fide evidence of marriage. I called Bank of America and they told me the same thing. They mailed me some documents, which I forwarded to wife overseas. She signed the documents and send it back to me and it forwarded them to Bank of America. After 2 weeks, they sent me letter that our application to add my wife to my checking account was rejected, since she did not have a social security number. Anyone with similar experience? I would appreciate any recommendations.

i think you are looking for a W-8 BEN

think you can get spouse added at some banks...some won't...if they wont..open a new account

  5. in form I-130, part B, the petitioner (US citizen) address, does it need to be the US residence, or the address where the US citizen is temporarily (a few months) residing abroad?

    thanks!

i think your "residence" is where you reside for 6 months. I believe your residence also affects, where you file at?....

example...if living with your spouse for more than 6 months, then filing, i believe you can file at the embassy (DCF)

if you reside in USA, then you must send 130 to a lockbox in USA.

personally i would look at that, and factor that into the decision making as to address.

perhaps others can shed more light on your question
