  1. Just create some ties. Open a bank account for her, give her a couple grand. Does she work? Tell her to tell her boss to write her a letter permission for two weeks vacation. Does she own a car? Tell her to take the registration to the interview. Does she have a husband? Kids? Make sure she tells the agent that. 50% of the battle is how she answers the questions WITH CONFIDENCE. If you're lucky that is 100% of the battle. When it's 50% you'll need the proper documents (ties) to prove she'll return to her country. Write her a letter of invitation too.

I don't think it is possible to create ties, a car can be left behind. Documents don't matter, they didn't even look at my mother in law's. They look if your mother has any other. Letter of invitation doesn't matter we did all that. My wife's mom still can't come. It makes me so angry

  2. Has your MIL ever travelled anywhere? They do seem to like it if she has been to other countries.

In Europe, France, Croatia, Ukraine. Seems to me the limiting factor is no husband and my wife is her only child.

I think it was also a mistake to tell them she wnted to be here when the baby was born at the first application. I think they assumed we waned a baby sitter, which we don't. My wife doesn't work.

Is it very common to get approved after previous denials?

  3. Sorry for that question, and you don't have to answer this here.

How did your wife come to the US and stayed?

Did she use a tourist/student visa for that?

Or was it via an official immigration route (K-1, CR-1)?

If she used a tourist visa, that might be a reason her mother can't get one. The CO might suspect she'll follow her daughter, even if she says she won't. After all her daughter went to visit only as well.

    Sorry if I assumed wrong.

No she came here on a tourist visa we got married and she returned to Poland and waited 6 months while the CR-1 processed.

  4. he mentioned the separation will be hard on them. They say the third time is a charm but there is NO guarantee. My mom applied three timess too until i decided to file for her. I did not want her to come and live here but to visit and go as she pleases but then we had no choice.

We don't want to immigrate her, She would not be happy here, All her family is there and she does not even speak English and I could not afford to even buy health insurance for her. Sure she can go there alone, but last time she went for 2.5 months and I missed a lot of the interesting things about our son growing. If by some miracle Poland finally gets into the VWP, with these denials have any influence on her using VWP? So sometimes after denials people are approved? How is it possible?

  5. It really sucks, it seems my mother in law will never be allowed to visit us. She is unmarred lives in Poland and my wife is her only daughter. She owns a flat and gets a pension in Poland.

I don't see her situation changing.

She has been denied twice. Second time we had letters from senators, didn't help

It is such a hassle to take our baby on the plane expose him to all the germs and be apart because I have a limited number of free days from work. From everything I read there is nothing else we can do. If anyone has any advice let me know

  6. It is best your mother in law does not tell them about the baby at the interview, or she may be denied. We learned the hard way. My mother in law was denied twice and it appears she will never be allowed to come here to visit us, and it is a pain in the butt to take the baby there. It would be so nice if she could come here. She is retired and would be much better than us going there

  7. I believe you can do the I-130 directly at the consulate in Malaysia, and it will be quicker. There is no such think as the K3 visa anymore. You don't need a visa and a green gard

So, here's another question if anyone knows.

Say we send in the I-130 petition (since it takes weeks to arrive, process, and get the NAO back to us). In the meantime give the tourist visa another go.

If they deny the tourist visa, the petition is filed to move to the next step for the K3 visa right? If the tourist visa is approved, we just file the change for and send to go along with the I-130, so we don't have to go thru this tourist visa ####### again next time we visit...

But, let's say the tourist visa gets denied again. We wait, and get the approved petition NAO and file for the K3. Then the greencard is approved before the K3 is approved... do we then have to file for the immigrant visa also, the IR1 or CR1? Along with having the greencard? Do you need a visa AND a greencard?

State site isn't really clear if you need some sort of visa AND a greencard.

  8. When she goes to the interview it is best not to say she is coming because they are having a baby at the time or she will be more likely to be denied, the consider her coming to help/babysitting to be work. She should just say she wants to visit.

Hi, Just recently applied for a US Visa for my daughter. We brought the following documents:

    - copy of passport and other identification papers

    - copy of birth certificate (in your case, your birth certificate that shows that she is your mother)

    - documents tying her to the country where she's coming from (proof of employment, place of residence or document showing house ownership/lease)

    - proof of funds specifically a bank statement and/or salary slips

    - intended itinerary showing purpose of travel (not necessarily a plane ticket, of course you want to wait for the visa before purchasing a ticket)

    Hope this helps.

  9. I am curious if anyone (USC) has attended the tourist visa interview with the person applying in their home country or if this is even allowed? My friend said he went with his mother in law to the interview after a previous denial and explained why she wanted to come etc.. and they granted it. This was in Poland. My mother in law was denied and I was hoping if I go with her when she applies again it may be helpful. It is a hassle to send my wife with the baby on the plane and we would like for her to see where we live

  10. Seriously ?? Then we are going to hear complaints how difficult it is to get tourist visa for mother in law willing to come see wedding ?

These people had already broken the law...

My mother in law was denied to come see our baby born and we follow all rules. These people make me so angry.
