No. There is no court order for the husband to pay child support. I was speculating on how civilized countries care for their children.

I already previously voiced my frustration about how little protection there is for the women and children of the Philippines with regards to husbands vacating their responsibilities. In fact the father of my girlfriend abandoned her mother (to whom he is still married) and he has children with three other girlfriends.

I love the Philippines and its people, but I hate the laws which don’t fairly protect the women and children. And those same laws create weak, irresponsible men. And then those kids grow up without good male roles models. It’s such a terrible system there and REALLY drags down the already poor economy.

I like the Guam plan, provided these two requirements 1). She obtains a tourist visa (not easy) and 2). She works with an attorney who can draft a document and witness the husbands signing of this agreement which the husband agrees to the divorce and custody arrangement (full custody for her). The husband of course needs to be located first. His motivation is avoiding back payments of child support and any future expenses and marital freedom.

The Guam strategy could work but it’s just an extra dice to roll in this unlucky game.

It was another user who said about the residency requirements but, when she entered the US, IF... IF she got a tourist visa, they may only allow here 2-3 weeks so... might not be possible anyways.. but again USCIS may accept this for their end, but at the embassy level they probably wouldn't because she would still have to present a CEMAR and it would state she is legally married in the Philippines. Philippines is definitely difficult when it comes to divorce/annulments. Dig deep, I tagged couple other knowledgeable members who also know about Philippines so they may be able to give you some good answer.

Oh, and forgot.. @Greenbaum definitely is knowledgeable about processes in the Philippines also, between those three you should get some good info.

Been there. Do everything possible to make a clean, uncostly break. There's nothing worth saving.

Ugly_American got a reaction from rhein in Lying during naturalization interview - any consequences?
The funny game she's now playing is to say that we never agreed to seperate. I still have evidence of her cheating prior to seperation, not that it matters, but there's no wayt I'm letting her tell me we didn't seperate. She's very nervous about her lie. I think what I will do is report her after the divorce paperwork is filed. Her life is so ###### easy compared to mine. Even now I'm taking care of our son 80% of the time, while she spends nights with guys in hotels. At the very least I want her to begin to be accountable for her lies. Also, after the divorse is completed I will send a complete summary of what she did to her parents. They will be very upset with her and she will be disgraced. I'm on the fence about reporting her cheating during her job interview. It may not get her fired, but the nursing board would probably be interested. All of her family and pinay friends who think I must be such a monster, will see who she really is and think twice about screwing up their own families.

Ugly_American got a reaction from Moomin in Calling the NVC daily, for the music
The NVC call center’s background music is so familiar now. I call and wait on the line daily, and have done so for the past 10 days. The musical selection is a single, repeating, 42-second loop of synthesized feel good, elevator music. It’s like the music they would pipe into the death chamber as you’re about to be processed into Soylent Green. (Dating myself there. My fiancée will never understand all my references…)
While waiting I was also able to carefully transcribe the calming voice messages. There is a 9-second delay between each of these sequentially repeating messages:
1). “We appreciate your patience while waiting and assure you that assistance is just a moment away. your call is very important to us, and we look forward to speaking with you!”
2). “We know your time is valuable. Thank you for holding. Assistance is just moment away.”
3). “Thank you for calling! Our staff is working hard to take your call now. When we return to the line please let us know how we may serve you.”
4). “All our operators are busy. We apologize for the delay. Please hold and we will answer your call as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.”
5). “Because of the personal attention given to every caller you may experience a brief delay. Please remain on the line. a representative will assist you momentarily.”

It's very irritating. I have so little patience. I'm not going to let this last 4 weeks and then call my senator. I want to call my senator now, but I'll wait one week, then I'm phoning my Senator and Congressman and the NVC everyday, even if they just tell me the same thing. I'll be on the radar everyday. And I'll make sure each phone call lasts over 10 minutes even if we only speak about what we ate for breakfast.

Yup, that's us too. 16 hour diff and numerous times i've set alarm for 2-3-4am to wake and chat, even on weeknights while working full time. I hate long distance. We just do our best and yes skype is the only thing we use. Well, chikka also and email. It's tough. I can;t complain too loudly with my timeline. I'd say just keeping busy and trying to have hobbies here. I've played guitar to her and now i'm reading a book to her. We just try and hang out online.
