As processing times for some parent immigration visas balloon out to almost 30 years, the families hoping to be reunited for good are left in limbo

I thought this is interesting, we talk about long wait times a lot on here, now Parents is not one of them, but it is in Australia.

The issue seems to be mainly driven by Medical/Social costs, probably less an issue in the US as they are more a State rather than Federal problem.

A federal judge on Tuesday blocked President Joe Biden s controversial asylum policy, delivering a major blow to the administration, which has leaned on the measure to drive down border crossings. The judge put the ruling on hold for 14 days for a possible appeal.

The ruling against the Biden administration could have major implications on the US-Mexico border, where crossings have plummeted since the rollout of the asylum policy, among other measures. A Justice Department spokesperson told CNN that the department plans to appeal.

IRCC will improve labour mobility in North America by creating a streamlined work permit for H-1B speciality occupation visa holders in the US to apply to come to Canada. Right now, many workers in high-tech fields are employed in companies with operations in Canada and the US, and those working in the US often have a H-1B speciality occupation visa.

As of July 16th 2023, H1-B holders in the US and their accompanying immediate family members will be eligible to apply to come to Canada. The approved applicants will receive an open work permit for up to three years, which means they can work for almost any employer in Canada. In addition, their spouses and dependents can also be eligible to apply for a temporary resident visa.

https://www.immigration.net/2023/06/15/the-coming-apocalypse-for-employment-based-immigrants/

The math gets us to the hard truth, there are will shortly be an additional 710,257 pending EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa applicants waiting for visa availability (not including any EB-2 NIW direct filings. Added to the current number that means we have over 1,800,000 million people in our EB-2 and EB-3 employment categories, many of whom are already working in the US, whose US employers have proved they are not taking jobs from US Citizens, or are persons whose immigration is in the National Interest. Even if we lifted the per country limit, the wait translates to a 20 year wait for everyone filing a prevailing wage today, with tens of thousands more being added each year.
