Hello All, I submitted my wife's I-751 in early January 2023 and to my surprise I received back the I-797 Notice of Action today. But to my disappointment, the Notice Type read Receipt Notice Amount received $680.00 U.S.. Was hoping for an approval status instead. Is it normal to get a I-797 receipt notice first then an approval status later? Sort of concerned. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

USCIS approved our K1 petition the end of October 2022, but I've yet to receive any letters in the mail. I emailed the NVC last month and I was informed that our petition is awaiting to inputted into the system before the NVC sends out a notification by mail. I have not yet received anything from the NVC yet and have emailed them again today for an update. On another note, I just want to double check with you all in terms of what I need to do on my part and my Fianc 's part; As far as I know, I have to complete an I-134 affidavit support form. I do not work as I'm in nursing school, but have more than 3x the minimum amount required to support her. Would I have to make an appointment with a bank clerk to complete my I-134 form? How soon should I complete the I-134 form? My fianc in Vietnam would have to fill out the DS3025 form with a physician and get her vaccination record. How soon she do this? I'm just asking to that I can be ahead of the game. If there anything else I haven't mentioned while in the NOA2 phase, please let me know. Thanks

Hello all, My wife previously immigrated to the US on a K1 from Vietnam, and since has become a naturalized citizen in May 2022. We got her mother a tourist visa late last year to come visit for a couple months to help with the last stages of my wife's pregnancy and first stages of our first child. Her mother liked it here more than we expected, and as the birth got close we discussed and decided she'd be OK to stay for a year or two and help with our baby. We already submitted a I-130 soon before the birth in December and are working on the I-485 now, but had some questions I was hoping this great community could assist with! Her I-94 notes to admit until May, so I was not sure if that would be extended with the submittal/receipt of the I-485 or we also should submit a I-539? The long flight is a hardship for her so we'd rather she didn't have to go back and forth if possible. From looking at other forum posts, seems like the NOA for the I-485 should extend her visa until the petition is completed? We also cancelled her return ticket since it was for late January since we realized we would need help longer than that. Would her not currently having a return ticket be an issue in this process? Wondering if we should book another return flight for her around the expiry of the I-94 to show our intent to follow the visa, or if that is not necessary if we are submitting the I-485. We'd like to do whatever we can to help the petition be successful. Any help is much appreciated!

Hello everyone, I m a US citizen. I applied 2 cases for my parents IR5. We are collecting documents in NVC stage. I and my husband are students, we don t have enough income to support my parents, so my sister in law will help with that, she is a single. I wonder what kinds of form we should fill out for Affidavit of support. So I will fill out I-864 for me and another I-864 for my sister. My question is whether I need to fill out I-864A for my husband or not? Please kindly share your experience! I appreciate it!

We were so close to getting meeting the two year date for IR-1 I should have risked it and cancelled our Consulate interview. We had been waiting for the consulate to open in Vietnam while we were living there due to COVID so the I-130 took about 15 months total due to waiting for the interview. They closed the consulate for several months. While at least through that part of the immigration journey I was with my wife and understand that most of you were seperated from your spouses during COVID I was just getting tired of not being able to come back to the US. So, we took the November 1 2021 interview that was finally scheduled after witing since June or so. Had I left the country I wouldn't have been able to get back into Vietnam due to the border closing to all but VN citizens. We got my wife and daughter's medicals done before that interview on October 19, so when we had the interview the CR-1 visa was only good until April 19 2022. Our two year anniversary was April 28, 2022. Had I known how long it takes for ROC after the two year green card I definitely would have risked cancelling the interview even if the reschedule would have been even two or three months later. We had already planned on moving to the US, getting citizenship and then moving back to Vietnam. Now I see that naturalizaitons are being held up because they can't seem to get I-751's processed in a timely manner. I do wish I would have held out for the IR-1. Or, I had heard from others that we should have gone to the interview without the medical done, taken the interview, got an RFE for the medical and waited a bit and then turned in the medical which would have gotten us to be able to use the November 1 date for the start of the six month visa which would have just barely got us past the two year date. But, I was concerned they might just turn us away for not having the medical and not let us interview. Sorry, just a rant as I'm preparing my i-751 package.
