| City Hall/Courthouse Wedding First? |

Hi, I was wondering for USCIS Adjustment of Status purposes, if a city hall/courthouse wedding is acceptable at first, and then a couple of months later, if an interview is required for our I-485 (App. to Register Permanent Residence), if we can bring evidence/photos/video proof of an actual wedding celebration then. I have a giant family here in the U.S. and it will take months to book a venue, and have "evidence" of a wedding celebration. We hope to have the "legal" marriage first at city hall/courthouse and wasn't sure if USCIS would accept this as adequate proof of bonafide marriage evidence. Thanks! - Tony

My wife just had her interview. She aced the civics part. She did not pass the English part. On the N-652, it states that she "will have another opportunity fo test your ability to x speak x understand English. There is no "x" next to the "read" and "write". So I'm guessing she's going to have a second chance at the portions marked "x" only? She doesn't have to deal with the read and write? Finally, she told me it was a long question of "have you ever...." that threw her off. That and the follow up question of "why not?". She told me she answered every short and straight forward questions correctly.

Hi Everyone, Back in 2018 I had my name legally changed because the name on my ID did not match my SSC or birth certificate because of an apparent clerical error from when i was born. To make it less confusing i will say my "real" name is Gary and the incorrect name was Geary. I know how stupid that sounds but it is actually really close to what the actual mistake was. I found out in 2017 and went through the process of getting it changed and a new SSC. I have went by "Gary" my whole life, it's on my ID, school records, lease documents. And most importantly my criminal record. I was arrested in 2015 and the record says "Gary" and not "Geary" what my legal name actually was at that time. Since my name change document is from 2018 saying i changed my name to Gary and the arrest is from 3 years earlier, will that be a problem?
