US Immigration from United Kingdom

Hi,

I am putting this out there to see if anyone has any advice, but also as a record for anyone else that finds themselves in a situation like mine which is about as daft as it gets and all my own doing!.

I have been living in NC on a 10 year greencard for the past 8 years. I was married to a US citizen but divorced 3 years ago.

My greencard was lost last year and I never applied for a replacement due to the cost, I do have copies/pictures of it.

My UK passport expired 3 years ago. I sent of new application today.

My NC drivers license expires at the end of this month.

I have been on the phone to DMV and USCIS today, it looks like my best bet is to apply for N400 and citizenship. The lady on the phone said once I apply online I can call in and request an interview and they will stamp my passport which I can then use for my drivers license. This all requires me to have my UK passport, so I guess nothing can be done until then. They state 6 weeks but when I spoke on the phone to UK passport people they said a cover letter explaining the situation may speed things up, so I did that and sent it off today.

Does anyone see anything I am missing or pitfall? and does anyone know about this stamping of passport?

Would be nice to read and negate some of the anxiety, especially for those filing after their status expires and awaiting Notice of Action/Reciept.

Hello all, hope everyone is keeping well.

We are due to file removal of conditions on my 2 year conditional Green Card at the end of January 2021. We are expecting a baby boy in Dec 2020 so obviously our main focus will be baby which means we will be very busy! Because of this, we was planning on compiling all our co-mingling marriage evidence documents in the next few month's so we don't have to rush and scramble for all the paperwork when baby is here, one less thing to worry about!

Is this a bad idea as the paperwork will be a few month's old before filing or will this be accepted?

Feeling very frustrated with USCIS today! My K1 Adjustment of Status package was received May 28th, I received my three receipt numbers (I-485, I-765 and I-131) June 2nd. I have been away from my home in Chicago since mid/late July, we are staying at my mother-in-law's house in the suburbs. I had been expecting a biometrics appointment sometime soon, so I had been using Ask Emma live chat on the USCIS website several times a week, since mid July. Every time I had asked about my biometrics appointment I was told I had nothing scheduled. I used the live chat again today, and to my surprise was told a notice had been sent to my address July 28th, my appointment was August 11th at 8am...YESTERDAY!! So very frustrating, I had asked several times since July 28th and was told nothing scheduled yet. I was told I could try walk in, or follow rescheduling instructions per my letter.

Has anyone else attempted a walk in biometrics? Or had to reschedule an appointment?

So I decided to send a message to USCIS online, to see if I could get any more info about the interview date for my N-400 application. I applied late last August, 2019. At the moment, the estimated case completion date is set to August 2020 (this month). I got this response back:

Your application information has been entered into the system which schedules applicants for interviews at their local Field Office.

It looks like a boilerplate response, but just want to check whether others have had any other type of message when making an enquiry to USCIS?
