I have read that after you file you C-130 for the CR1/IR1, you can file for a K-3 Non-Immigrant Spouse visa to shorten the time for them to come here. Has anyone here done that or has anyone else heard of doing that. For me it doesn't matter as my wife and daughter's interviews are on the 5th. But if this is a method to get a spouse here sooner we should all do it. If you have done it or know someone who has I would love to hear from you. Thanks, Dave

Hi, so I am the beneficiary and my sponsor is supposed to be my fiance. My fiance runs his own business slash social enterprise (LLC) and sales was hit quite bad by COVID. It was already in debt before because it's only a few years old. Anyway, his tax consultant did the figures and he just told me that his adjusted gross income is -26,000. Our lawyer in the US thinks that we should just file a joint sponsor and it will be fine. My fiance concurs. We have come so far, though, and I have also read that some consulates don't allow for joint sponsors for the K1. Mind you, I'm not a Thai national but am a foreigner working here so I don't know if they might take my nationality and job prospects into account. We do have savings, but our savings doesn't amount to 5 x 22000 = $ 110,000 to prove. Much less so if it has to cover the -26,000. We are both in our 30s and he has a Master's while I'm working on mine so I am hoping that will also show that I am not going to be a public charge (although with the new administration, I'm not quite sure how that works.) Has anyone used a joint sponsor for the Bangkok consulate? Should we just try to borrow some money from family as an early inheritance thing in order to make our cash assets work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have read through many old posts but haven't found quite what I am looking for... please advise. Entered on K1 in late 2016. Married in early 2017. Turned out to be a difficult marriage, USC wife had told many lies. Filed I-751 in late 2019 at the time of filing found out that spouse was not filing taxes jointly and some other hurtful things were revealed. I-751 was filed jointly. From then until March 2020 marriage continued to deteriorate and Mar 2020 separated. Nothing was formalized legally. Spouse didn't want to do paperwork. Everything was so backed up with USCIS didn't really think about the separation and the pending application at the time. NOW- end of April 2021 called USCIS to get update and found out an interview is scheduled for May 24, 2021 (notification had been mailed to spouse who decided maliciously not to pass it on). (ex)Spouse is just now agreeing to drafting divorce papers. Nothing has been filed or finalized yet. (ex)Spouse refuses to attend interview. Based on what I have gathered so far what needs to be done is that a new I-751 needs to be filed as an amendment with a cover letter explaining the situation and sent to the field office where the interview is scheduled (Chicago). Is this correct? Is the waiver filled out on the basis of divorce although the divorce hasn't even been filed for let alone finalized? What should the cover letter say? What evidence should be included in this amendment? Then the immigrant should plan to attend the interview (alone) scheduled for May 24th. What should be prepared for the interview? There is evidence of the marriage being bona fide, there are also text messages about the toxic situation from (ex)spouse, there is also a video of (ex)spouse suggesting immigrant file taxes as single to get more money. Should any of this be prepared? Should the initial draft of divorce papers be prepared? Should any affidavits or anything like that be prepared? Unfortunately there isn't much time to put much preparation. PS my post and timeline don't match up because I am posting on behalf of a dear friend who is so distraught that they cannot navigate all of this right now.

Hi everyone, I'm a little new here and trying to get everything straight. My fianc (petitioner) and I (beneficiary) are moving back to South Africa from Thailand to start the process of applying for our K1 visa. She will be heading to the US first for a friends wedding and also begin the process for the K1 visa through Rapid Visa. While working here we have managed to accumulate a decent amount more funds than needed to satisfy the poverty guidelines. This is a combination of assets and cash in both our names. Since we plan on living in South Africa together and move to the USA together that means that she won't have a stable form of income in the US until we leave. Would this situation cause some issues for us in the application process? Any advice would be welcomed. Kind regards, Dewald & Brittney

Hello everybody, Our K-1 interview yesterday was cancelled due to COVID, so we quickly grabbed the next available on June 15. Afterwards we realized this date will not work due to medical exam timing and a few other factors. So, we want to try to get an earlier interview date, but we have used up all our cancellations already so we cannot see the schedule any longer (previously we could see "Next Available Appt. Date". We are willing to pay the visa fee again in order to be able to monitor the schedule, and we hope we could do this WITHOUT cancelling our interview June 15. Ideally we can keep June 15, and if something becomes available in May we grab it. I have no idea if any of what I just said is possible in the US Travel Docs system. We have called the embassy multiple times and they just tell us they recommend we keep June 15. Unclear if we pay the fee, that automatically cancels our interview. Confusion over CGI number, Virtual Account Number, etc...Emails are replied with copy/paste nonsense. I did not post this in the Thailand forum as it is pretty dead over there; I imagine the online system is the same across all embassies. Thanks...
