my wife got her green card Dec 7, 2023, i understand she's eligible to apply 90 days before 3 years so that would be 09 / 08 / 2026 according to the USCIS calculator. so when would we expect the bio appointment? i ask because we usually go to Thailand for the winter, nice to know if we can get the bio done before it gets too cold here. thanks

Hello VJ, My wife (naturalized USC) petitioned on an I-130 to bring her 30 year old (now) daughter to the U.S. from Thailand. Receipt date is 12/26/2020. I think that puts her in the: FAMILY-SPONSORED PREFERENCES First: (F1) Unmarried Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens: 23,400 plus any numbers not required for fourth preference. category ? If this is true, according to the April Bulletin, they are on 2/08/2015 (Feb 8 2015) applications. If so, does that mean they at least as of right now, she can expect at least 6 more years of wait for any movement ? I have asked about this before but I still don't exactly get it. I am not sure if I understand the categories and the Visa Bulletin correctly. Thanks in Advance - Tango

My wife is a Legal permanent resident who has filed the N-400 for citizenship, is the legal guardian of a 6 year old niece in Thailand. I am a US Citizen by birth and we want to bring our niece here with the intent of adoption and citizenship. The child's father was killed in a motorcycle accident about 18 months ago and the mother is an alcoholic that has signed the guardianship paperwork in Thailand for my wife to become her legal guardian. The child is now living with my wife's parents until we can get her here. What visa do we need to apply for and would it be more advantageous to wait for granting citizenship or applying now for the nieces visa. How do we go about making this application. Thank you in advance for your advice and council. Dave
